Rating: Summary: Beautifully done and visually enticing Review: This book is quite nicely done. If you are looking for a manual or technical tome, then you would be better served by looking elswhere. This book is light on technical information. However, it is visually inspiring and thought provoking on several different creative levels. As the title suggests it is merely a guide to using Pantone colors in print communications and the book does indeed show how that is accomplished. I would recommend this book to anyone in the design business, simply because of the ideas that will emnate from the creative mind as you turn the pages. The nicest feature of this book is the wonderful compilation of color swatch combinations. You won't be wasting your money by buying this . . . but don't expect to become a master of color from reading it either. Use it for what it was intended and you will be quite happy with the book.
Rating: Summary: great way to look at the world of colors Review: This book really hits the nail on the head when it comes to the psychology of color. I especially like the real-life examples of color advertisements that utilize specific hues to create a specific impact. Nicely laid out and a pleasure to browse, it could double as a coffeetable book. A great reference, whether I'm working on a website or thinking about how to rearrange my living room.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding! Review: This is an essential book for anyone in the design field. A well organized book with lots of supporting examples to demonstrate the effects of color in advertising, product design, etc. Leatrice definately knows color!
Rating: Summary: Very practical Review: This is quite a practical book on how to express, how to talk with colours. You don't find cultural or history thoughts on it. Nothing about Van Gogh, nothing about Mondrian. But you can find ways to efective use colours in marketing or web interfaces, for instance. It's more a book to look at than a book to read. It's pretty well illustrated, mainly with ads.
Rating: Summary: Beyond excellent - a valuable color reference Review: Trying to choose a color scheme to evoke a certain mood or mindset for your customers? This Pantone book is excellent. It features lots of insightful color theory, with Pantone swatches and schemes handy to apply in your design work. It's well laid-out, beautiful and very informative.
