Rating: Summary: An inspiring and disillusioning book about humanity. Review: Ender's Game is one of those books that, once started, can not be put down until finished. Card's artful yet objective writing allows the reader to easily emote for the charectars, and become more involved in the storyline than even the charectars themselves.
Rating: Summary: Best book I've ever read! Review: I could not put the book down. It is a real page-turner. I've never read a book with so much intensity. This is the first science fiction book that I have enjoyed, and it will not be the last. I am looking forward to reading other Orson Scott Card books.
Rating: Summary: Amazing to the last Review: This is, by far, the best book I have ever read (this is written after my fortieth reading of it). It deserves no criticism in my mind.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable and Ingenious Review: Whenever I talk about this book, it's hard not to make it sound like I am a science fiction junkie. I love and defend sci-fi, but I am not limited to the genre. Neither, I think, is this magnificent book. To label it simply a sci-fi classic would be like labeling "Moby Dick" a great book about boats. All great books, regardless of the genre, say something truly profound about the human condition. "Ender's Game" not only manages to have a strong message, but it is also a joy to read. The plot is enthralling, the characters are complex and realistic, and the descriptions of the battleroom fill your head with fantastic images that make you wish your school had been like this, without the burden of saving humanity. The subplot involving Valentine and Peter is superb and cannot fail to inflame every reader's megalomaniacal side. Though the book is about children, it never condescends and gives kids the credit for the intelligent creatures they are (a big plus for teenage readers). The characters are exceptionally bright, but they are still identified as five- to twelve-year olds, not as mini-adults. It's no wonder that so many gifted young readers have made the statement, "I am Ender." I hope "Ender's Game" is able to make the rare crossover from lowly sci-fi to recognized, so-called "legitimate" literature. Not only will you not be able to put the book down, you won't be able to read this book just once.
Rating: Summary: Well thought out storyline, entertaining to the end . Review: This is the first Orson Scott Card book I've read, and I'm pleased to say it won't be the last. The story seemed fairly fast paced to me, with a bunch of great characters, I frequently forgot that most of them were children and had to keep reminding myself this must be what it's like to be pushed so far when you're so young. The book wasn't as detailed as I'm used to(being a primary Stephen King reader), my only complaint is I had a little trouble "watching" some of the battle scenes in my head. Still, a great book.
Rating: Summary: one of the best books ever written Review: I dont read much but putting this book down was very difficul
Rating: Summary: My Favorite book Review: This was one of my favorite books ever. I could not but it down once I started! Some stuff was a stretch (e.g. the charecters are only 6 years old) but over all it was a ! GREAT BOOK!
Rating: Summary: THE BEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN! Review: Honest to God, this is the best book ever written in the sci-fi genre. Not only is it intense and gripping it is also thought-provoking as so many science fiction books are not. This book is not for the sappy, wishy-washy individual! It makes you think and understand some things about human nature I don't think we'd ever think about until we read this book. As a young student, I find myself empathizing with Ender, and it makes me realize that my life could never be as intense as his was, not that I wouldn't mind it. And the funniest thing occured to me at the end of the book: if Card hadn't told us how old Ender was and omitted all the stuff about his age and just outlined the bare plot, how old would you estimate Ender to be? 20? 30? Ender Wiggins is only eleven years old as the book closes. Makes you gape, doesn't it. I recommend this book to people who even don't like sci-fi because it's not as much about space battles and aliens, it's about life.
Rating: Summary: To the people that don't like the book Review: If you think That this is not a good book than you can explain to me how it won the Hugo and Nebula awards.
Rating: Summary: The book is a great science fiction book. Review: This book is a fascinating one about a 6 year-old boy. There are imaginary aliens called "buggers." There has been two invasions by these buggers. So the world government has picked out geniuses and are training them for the third invasion. Many people thought it wouldn't happen because the last invasion was seventy years ago. This boy's name is Ender Wiggins. He has been monitered and has been chosen for the training. They hope he is the one to fight off them forever. During the early training of course there were "games". They used guns to freeze eachother's team until one of them retreated. Ender commanded the troops, his team was called the Dragon. They were undefeated. This book is my favorite book I've ever read. This is only one of four books in this series. In my opinion, this is the best one of the series. Will Ender win? To find out the ending, buy this book. The other books in the series are Children of the Mind, Speaker of the Dead, and Xenocide. I highly recomend this book to everyone especially science-fiction lovers.
