Summary: This Book was Awesome and deserves 10 stars
Review: I thought that this book was a vvery good book and those who say that it was bland or for a younger audience are obviously not catching the themes of this book and did not read it very carefully.I thought that this book was very thought provoking. Personally I hope to God that the world never has a battle with... and tortures those... I don't want to spoil the book. I have read this book twice and I will read it a thousand times over. I have also read Speaker for the Dead , and am in the middle of reading Xenocide, I have not had a chance to read children of the mind yet though. Thanks for reading, John

Summary: Science Fiction at its Best
Review: If my library could only have two SF books in it, those books would be Dune and Ender's Game. For those detractors who whine that "it's dumb that a kid could save the world", Ender DIDN'T save the world. Read the book again, dimwits! For those who whine that "children don't think like adults", Ender does not think like an adult! The aspects of his personality that make him a great commander come from his brilliance as a child. No adult could have done what Ender did. To me, this is why the subsequent Ender books fail to reach the same level of interest: Ender is far less interesting as an adult.

Summary: The best book of it's genre I've read in a long time.
Review: I normally don't read Science Fiction. I normally don't read nonfiction. I normally read nothing but fantasy novels and books I'm required to for class. When I got 50 pages into this one, though, I knew I wouln't be able to put it down, and I knew I would love it. It didn't fail to live up to either of my expectations. I believe that anyone who enjoys intelligent reading will love this book, hands down.

Review: This book is the first novel I have ever read without being forced to. This book was so good I read it every second I could. From when I woke up till 4 in the morning. I would (and have)recommend this book and it's sequels to everyone.

Summary: VERY BLAND!!!
Review: This was the first and last Orson Scott Card book that I will ever subject myself to read. The book was very bland and had a very mediocre style. One thing that bothered me about the book is the way Card told you the information; the information was very blunt and concise with no obvious meaning. Beyond that, the plot line was tawny and unfulfilling: NO BUILDUP, to much of the fighting sequence, and totally unrealistic strategy. The sub-plot was another problem. The sub-plot was totally flawed just as the plot was- the idea of Ender's brother and sister causing so much world wide controversy through the internet is beyond ridiculous. Basically to break this book down, this book should have remained as a short story. Don't bother reading this book if you are atleast 13; you should find more negatives than positives in this novel. If this is the highlite of your reading career or a life fulfilling novel than I would have a firm basis to assume that you have never read a good book in your life. If you are looking for that double fudge chocolate cake, look somewhere else, because all you will find is a spoonful of oatmeal.

Summary: If kids could command, this would be how...
Review: This book was of an anguished young boy who simply wanted to go home but was instead thrust into the role of the saving the world. Telling the story from Ender's point of view made the story very exciting. I read this book thinking I probably wouldn't like it but while the writing could have been better, I would taken in by the world Card had created. Personally, I thought the idea of having kids command was a great idea. It shows how desperate the world is since they don't have time to wait for the children to grow up or teach current generals to adopt a new worldview. But it's not a bad choice since children have adaptable and flexible minds, able to do things adult counterparts can not. But that's also the main complaint against it, saying kids couldn't do such a thing. People seem to miss vital points about them. These kids are geniuses. They're not your regular mill of kids. This is the future and maybe it's so harsh kids have to grow up young and forced military training can do a lot. Under certain conditions, of which I'm sure is present in a future of battlerooms and spaceships, I have no problem with kids talking and behaving responsibly like adults. You can't help feeling sorry for Ender cause while he's adult in mind, he's only a child in body and spirit. That should have been a blessing for him instead of a curse. You can't help but feel as if you're there as you read him try to handle what life has thrown at him. The plot and writing is quite good if you don't simply dismiss it by saying it's implausible. That's why it's called science fiction. I would have to agree the ending could have been better but rest of book makes up for it. This book was enjoyable and I hope Card's parallel work, Ender's Shadow is just as good.

Summary: Would recommend for young readers only
Review: I didn't hate this book, but I have to say that I would have enjoyed it a lot more when I was about 10-12 years old. If you read at that level (test: do you like Piers Anthony?) then you might enjoy this book. Adults should look elsewhere.

Summary: Something Special
Review: A book like this comes along only a few times in one's life. This book explores both what it is to be a "gifted" child and the stresses that can build upon such children whether or not they are trying to save the world. It is also a great exploration of the nature of the mind during a stressful situation, and what happens to being pushed beyond our limits, by forces we cannot control. I'm sure my review doesn't make much sense, so READ THIS BOOK. See for yourself.

Summary: Psychologically Terrifying!
Review: Orson brings out the side of us that we keep hidden. The terror of it brings to those who empathize with him and those who are horrified is unmatched and unchallenged. One can only feel sorry and respect Ender for being a killer. He lives you with a sense of regret that the book ended, and leaves you wanting so much more.
