Summary: One of the best books I've ever read
Review: Holes is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats who was accused of stealing a famous basketball player's shoes. But he was in the wrong place at the wrong time (as always). Then his parents are so mad because he keeps doing stuff that is really bad or at least that's what his parents think. Every night he prays that his mean grandpa who cursed the family had never been there. So his parents send him to a camp called Camp Green Lake. The only thing that the kids do there is dig holes. They do it so that they can clear their minds and be better children. But Stanley isn't like that, he isn't bad so he doesn't fit in. All the others are really bad and he doesn't know what to do.
He writes to his mom everyday (but he stays away from the boys because they will tease him).
I thought it was a great book and the author really put a lot of feeling into the book. I would suggest it to kids 9 and older. It was a sad book at times. Holes was a great book and I brought it all over the place so I could read it. The author Louis Sachar is a great story writer and I intend to read more of his books, so should You!!

Summary: Holes
Review: Holes is about a boy named Stanley yelnats who was sent to a juvenile detainment camp ( Camp Green Lake ) where bad kids are forced to dig holes each day. Water is scarce yet discipline is plenty. The people he meets there are out of the ordinary with names like armpit, x-ray & zigzag, he becomes close to one in particular Zero. It is still a mystery to Standley why they must dig holes every day, little by little those questions are answered. This book has a great story line & the reader won't want to put the book.

Summary: A Book Review of Holes
Review: Holes is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats, who went to a kids correctional place called Camp Green Lake. It is also about friendship. And some kids have funny names like Zero, and X-ray. All of the kids have to dig a hole 5x5 meters deep every day. When they dig they have to watch out for the yellow spotted lizards that can poison them. The kids also want to stay away from the warden because of her long fingernails that she uses to scrape and cut the kids.

Some kids grow up at Camp Green Lake so they aren¡¦t as smart as Stanley. So he teaches these two kids Zero & x-ray how to spell and their ABC¡¦s. I like this book because it¡¦s about friendship and bravery.

Summary: Puzzle
Review: Holes is about a boy named Stanley Yenalts who is sent to a juvenile detention facility for a crime that he didn't commit. At the facility, Camp Green Lake, the detainees are being forced to dig 5'x5'x5' holes. Something is fishy is going on at Camp Green Lake and Stanley is going to find out what is the source of the fishiness. The story winds up to be a courageous adventure where Stanley learns courage and friendship.
When I started reading Holes, I didn't know what to expect and throughout the book it follows the same track. Background information is give about the town of Green Lake throughout the story and though it is very interesting, I didn't know why the author was telling me it. At the end of the book the pieces fall into place and the puzzle is complete. The characters also all had their own unique personalities that were expressed by their actions and speech. Stanley Yenalts is a brave boy who is at the wrong place at the wrong time. His family is poor and it seems that life for them couldn't get any worse, but Stanley doesn't let that get to him and always has hope. Zero, another character, is a boy who was abandoned as a child and was automatically dubbed as stupid, but Zero knows that he could be very smart, if only someone would teach him. These two outcasts of society soon find that if they stick together and never lose hope, they can prevail. If you read Holes you will not be disappointed.
