Rating: Summary: Save your hard earned tax return Review: Simply put, this is not worth the paper it is printed on. If this is Mr Franken's idea of "Fair and Balanced" he is definately in some equilibrium trouble. Save your money...
Rating: Summary: What a Communist pinko! Review: Since Franken likes to take personal shots at people, I'll take one on him. He looks like a monkey on crack. He has never said anything funny and he never will. He sucked on SNL and he sucks as a Political commentator. If you are a Socialist who hates the USA then read his book. Franken gives liberals a bad name, much like Ann Coulter gives conservatives a bad name. People should stay away from both. If you want to read a good book from a conservative/traditionalist, read O'Reilly's books. If you want to read a book by a liberal, read Alan Colmes new book. Both are resonable points of view. Talking about O'Reilly, Franken hates him. I believe O'Reilly may be conservative but nothing like an Ann Coulter. O'Reilly for the most part is a fair minded individual, something Franken is not.
Rating: Summary: Great, funny and sad. Review: Since I remember Al Franken doing his crazy sketches on SNL, I was amazed at his Limbaugh book from 5 years ago. He taught me a lot about what is wrong. Fast forward to this amazingly informative book about the liars who have hijacked our country. When you read about all of the lies that have been told to the American public by not only the likes of Limbaugh, Coulter, O'Reilly and Hannity, but also the people who we need to be able to trust - the president and his people, it gets very depressing. Yes, it's depressing, but it is also veeerrryyy funny and amazingly informative. This is a truly scholarly book wrapped in an entertianing package. Highly recommended. And oh yeah, I loved it.
Rating: Summary: One sided Review: Since unfortunately the colleges are mostly liberal (for fear of not being politically correct), our poor college kids are getting brainwashed. They need to quit reading the strange thoughts of Al Franken. I recommend no one read it.
Rating: Summary: Lying Liars? A little redundant, and quite idiotic... Review: Since when has Al Franken been a leading political mind? And what does he know that doesn't come from the media? Let's look at the facts. It'll take more than "wit" and "humor" to convince me that Franken's "facts" are legit. I'll stick with Rush, thanks. This read doesn't even deserve one star.
Rating: Summary: See, you should have read it! Review: Since you didn't bother to read this book, you didn't realize that every fact is clearly laid out in footnotes at the end of each page (not 700 endnotes like Coulter) The book has made me laugh time and time and time again. The subject matter could not have been more appropriate. Keep it up Al
Rating: Summary: Thank God He Cleared that up... Review: So according to Al, all conservatives are liars and all liberals are not. What rubbish. Franken should stick to being Stuart Smally. Oh, but I forgot, there is much more money writing left wing political diatribes than making more bad movies. Franken certainly doesn't improve the quality of the current politcal discourse. A thinking person should pass on this dreck.
Rating: Summary: Franken annoys me Review: So do all the liberals in the humor section.
Rating: Summary: The cover alone deserves 5 stars Review: So does the lawsuit/free publicity provided by the dupes at fox
Rating: Summary: The Right's reaction is typical Review: So far, I've read a VERY large amount of reviews that are happy to have some of this information out in the light of day, and a very small amount of reviews from conservatives that can't do anything but spout the typical garbage cliches we've been hearing from conservative talk radio for years. I have a question. Where are the sites dedicated to debunking this book? There are many websites dedicated to pointing out the lies by Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and the rest. C'mon guys, get off your butts! If this book is, as the conservatives are trying to say, lies from beginning to end, with quotes like "This book is little more than leftist disinformation and drivel, and poorly written and unentertaining at that", then it should be easy, right? I'll be surprised if there are ANY substantive factual inaccuracies in this book. (and no, mis-naming a newspaper is not a substantive factual inaccuracy) If you can find them, post them on the web. If not, then quit spouting garbage and see that your leaders are lying to you. Put up or shut up.
