Summary: Fast paced Patterson
Review: I've read all of Patterson's previous works and this is one of his best! Remember, this is a work of fiction...PLEASE do not analyze this book as other readers have done. So what if he has short chapters...short is good. This is not a work of fiction based upon a true crime. This is a work to be read and enjoyed and then move on to your next book. So, buy the book and read it for the reason you read fiction...an enjoyable escape from our real world!

Summary: his worst book
Review: I have read and enjoyed most of his books, but this was a complete disappointment. It sounded like it would be a "Grisham-like" legal story, but that was not the case. This was nothing like Grisham, whose key strength is compelling characters. The problem is this is all plot, and reads more like an outline than a story. There is no depth to the characters, they are all cardboard cutouts and it is way, way over the top. Definitely did not get my money's worth with this one. Wonder if it is too late to return?

Review: read in one day! Couldn't put it down!

Summary: A guilty pleasure after all these years
Review: I love Patterson bashers...they know exactly what they are in store for, and yet keep on reading. Obviously, Patterson knows
precisely what turns readers on. We purchase in the a.m. and finish early in the p.m. and immediately pass it on to a "book
buddy." While I have bashed in the past, this one was very
entertaining. Loved the fact that it was uncharted water in terms of characters. I think his co-author probably brought a lot to the table. Predictable...maybe. Most unlikely timing of
events (NYC murder)...certainly. However, I was thoroughly entertained and would recommend it to anyone. P.S. I will not
make my review longer than one of Patterson's chapters. Guess that means I must stop now.

Summary: The Beach House
Review: Very good suspense novel. It is not really a mystery since there is only one suspect. But the book moves at a fast pace and will
keep the reader guessing as to the final outcome. Ok, in real
life the ending would never be like it is in this book. Still
this book makes for a fun summer reading experience.
Now the big question I have is how much of this book was actually written by James Patterson. You have got the James Patterson trade mark "choppy chapters" but other than that the style just is not Patterson.

Summary: Not a Good Day at the Beach House
Review: If you enjoy a book with chapters that are 3 pages long and characters that are one dimension deep, than this is the book for you. It is boring, predictable and right up there with "Fun With Dick and Jane" in terms of its excitement level. Skip this book - unless perhaps you find it laying on the table in the waiting room of your dentist's office. You should be able to complete this "epic" by the time they call your name.

Summary: Best of the set yet!
Review: I have been reading Patterson's books for years but none went as quickly as this one. The Beach House is a definite must for all Patterson fans and because it isn't one in the midst of a series I would recommend it to anyone.I can't wait for Three Blind Mice to come out in November! With two kids home and all the housework to do I still finished it in 4 days because it was Patterson's best work yet!

Summary: The Beach House an enjoyable read!
Review: Wow! I opened the Beach House not sure what I would find. I was amazed to be instantly swept up by the characters and story line. A clear division of the ultra rich and the working class... along with a character reminiscent of early Grisham. I loved this book! Jack is a crack pot law student coming home to find his brother is dead and the arms of the rich are ever reaching! However, through all the twist and turns of this little tale Patterson does not let you down. I really found this story to be refreshing and enjoyable... I hope you do too!

Summary: An Easy Read
Review: If you're looking for a fast-paced journey into the world of the rich and their East Hampton digs 'The Beach House' is for you.
There is a reason this book is number one on the top-ten list.
It's because it's fun.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not too bad.
Review: Last summer, James Patterson released, Suzannes Diary For Nicholas, which seemed to be his version of a Nicholas Sparks novel. Now he's come out with The Beach House, which is remarkably similar to the work of John Grisham.

Peter and Jack Mullen were born and raised alongside the ultra wealthy in a small town near the posh seaside community known as the Hamptons. Jack escapes the exclusive backdrop to become a successful businessman, while Peter stays behind, falling into a world of sex and drugs, becoming a high-priced call boy for the wealthy women (and men) of the Hamptons. Jack returns home when he receives word that his brother has been found dead on the beach, apparantly having drowned in the ocean. While the authorities rule it a suicide, Jack suspects foul play and conspiracy, reaching to the upper rungs of society, leading him on a wild chase to track down Peter's killers.

While all this makes for a quick read, it's simply not up to Patterson's (or Grisham's) high quality of writing. The Beach House doesn't contain the nail biting suspense of Kiss The Girls, nor does it have the intricate legal goings-on of Grisham's work. Read it if you're a fan of either author, but don't expect Pulitzer Prize winning material. Hopefully Patterson will soon realize that he's one of the world's most talented authors, and doesn't need to mimic anyone else's style.
