Rating: Summary: Very well done Review: I know a lot of people who are hesitant to read this book; mostly for fear that a novel about schizophrenia would be "too creepy". Actually schizophrenia only scratches the surface of what this book is really about; what's admirable about it is the way Lamb takes so many different aspects of the protagonist's life and weaves them together so seamlessly. The characters are extremely vivid and true to life, especially Dominick who makes an engaging narrator; his voice rings true throughout. Put your jitters aside and give this one a try.
Rating: Summary: I loved this book. Review: Please read it, you'll enjoy every minute.
Rating: Summary: The Birdsey Twins Review: I'm a very easily distracted reader (so much to read!) so I rarely read a book cover to cover and so I rarely read novels since one cannot very easily skip around in a novel like one can many a nonfiction work. Even rarer for me is to read a novel of 900 pp. Suffice it to say this novel was very captivating for me and hard to put down. I found it VERY well done and realistic (if one discounts the rather pat ending).
Rating: Summary: Should Go Down in History as a Classic Review: An astounding work! This one rates with Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment. Fascinating characters, great story, interesting twists, authentic dialoge that rings true. At times, you may believe you're reading an autobiography. Also well researched. It is apparent that Wally Lamb did his homework on paranoid schizophrenics, the relationships of twins, and more. Hope to read it again. There's a valid reason why over 1000 people have rated it at 4 1/2 stars. Take the plunge! Read the book!!!!
Rating: Summary: 897 pages of Lamb wasn't enough... Review: 'I Know This Much Is True' was the best reading experience I have ever had. The novel wasn't so much about 'loss and redemption' as it was of finding who you really are and where do you come from. Wally Lamb has a genuine sense of how a story should be told and how its charcters should be built -I actually miss Dominic now that I've finished the book. Truly a can't-put-it-down-novel. I can't wait for the next Lamb novel...
Rating: Summary: Not my usual, but I could read it again and again... Review: I usually read detective/lawyer/courtroom fiction, but I've read both of Wally Lamb's books, loved them and I can't wait for another. I highly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: This was a great read. Review: I brought this with me on a plane trip I took recently and enjoyed it immensely. I'm from the part of the world where the story takes place in (I grew up in Westerly called Easterly in the book.)and that helped me picture what he was talking about but I don't think that would have been necessary. Wally Lamb writes about real New England misfits and I hope his blessings are many.
Rating: Summary: WOW Review: I loved this book! It was the best I have ever read!
