Rating: Summary: Better to light one candle than curse the darkness Review: Sean Hannity has lighted his candle with this book. Many of us have hungered for a book like this for a long time--a reasonable voice that explains our conservatism in plain language that anyone can understand, and that exposes the fallacies inherent in the liberal political view.
Hannity points out that American liberals are not evil or anti-American, only misled and mistaken in their goals and policies. His book is endorsed, on the back cover, by such conservative stalwarts as William J. Bennett, Rush Limbaugh, Dr.James C.Dobson and Newt Gingrich. The book is also endorsed by former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who says of it: "LET FREEDOM RING is a cogent plea for the moral clarity and courage needed to defeat the militant terrorism that imperils our civilization. Hannity minces no words, and is at once provocative and thought provoking. He should be read by supporters and opponents alike, and those interested in the debate over the future direction of free societies." Quite an endorsement, coming from a political head of another sovereign nation. Mr. Netanyahu understands both the common enemy and the stakes involved, having spent his adult life fighting them. A few short months ago, before the holocaust of last September, some of the harsh things about liberalism that Hannity says might have seemed like reckless exaggeration; however, since that date Americans have awakened to the reality that the greatest threat against us, and our greatest enemy is not, as Albert Gore stated in his book, Earth in the Balance, the "growing concentration of carbon dioxide now circling the earth." Nor is it American families and workers exercising their freedom by driving their automobiles, trucks and SUVs. Rather, as September 11th, 2001, has shown us, there are more immediate concerns than the fate of the Spotted Owl. According to Hannity, protecting our air, land, and water from pollution is certainly important, but protecting our homeland from crazed, rabid, suicidal terrorists who hate us not for anything we've done but simply for what we are, and who clap their hands and dance with joy at the news that they've killed 3,000 innocent men, women and children simply because they are Americans, is of more immediate importance. It is hard to argue with that sentiment. In this book, Hannity goes to great length to explain the deficiencies and incongruities of the liberal philosophy, and looks at some of the great mistakes made by the last liberal administration--such as refusing an offer by Sudan to turn over Osama bin Laden in 1996, not once but several times. This is a truly important book. For conservatives, it is "preaching to the choir" although it will be informative, and to those of the liberal persuasion it will be anathema, and if they deign to give it any notice, it will likely be a vindictive rant. But, if there is anyone left with an open mind it should be of interest. As for me, I am frankly part of the choir. Joseph Pierre
Rating: Summary: One (darn) good book! Review: This was a case of a left-handed right-winger reading a good book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone who thinks that the book contains too much "parochialism" needs their head examined. When I was finished, I had a fire lit under my ... to learn more about why it is that I am a conservative republican, and what I believe, politically, and why. (Especially when most of my friends are liberal democrats.) From 9.11.01 to Abortion to "the Economy, stupid," Hannity really opened my eyes about a lot of things. Thanks to him, I am considering getting into politics as an active participant, and I don't mean as a pundit, either. (And I really AM left-handed.)
Rating: Summary: Sensationalistic banter Review: I won't argue with the facts that Sean Hannity presents, but I disagree with his exaggerations and sensationalism when it comes to delivering his message. This guy just walks the extreme right tight rope and refuses to listen to the other side of anything.
Rating: Summary: An insightful book that is to be read, studied, and pondered Review: If Sean Hannity is not the new King of All Media, he is certainly the Crown Prince of it. Hannity has the number one radio show nationally for the 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. time slot; he has the number one cable news-rated show for the 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. time slot, wherein he plays Buffalo Bob Smith to his co-host's Howdy Doody; and now, with LET FREEDOM RING, he has the opportunity to expound on the matters that give sum and substance to his radio and television programs.
Hannity's first radio show was broadcast live from WABC in New York City on September 10, 2001. He had plenty to talk about that day. As he relates it, the first show dealt with topics such as cutting taxes, education reform, strengthening the military, and defending Judeo-Christian values. Little did he dream how horribly momentous the following day would be. The attack on America on September 11, 2001 was the ultimate impetus behind LET FREEDOM RING. While Hannity discusses taxes, education, the military, and values at length in LET FREEDOM RING, he also reviews the Congressional policies and errors of the late 1970s and early 1980s that resulted in the emasculation of United States intelligence forces, a process that reached its zenith as the result of the executive policies and omissions of the 1990s --- and which directly and proximately resulted in the effectiveness of the attack on the United States in 2001. Hannity also takes a well-aimed swing at illegal immigration. Hannity notes that his grandparents were legal immigrants who followed the rules and procedures necessary to come to this country and to become a part of it, and that thousands of people continue to do so. For their benefit, as well as for the benefit of those who have come before, the laws that permit entrance to this country must be enforced, and not sacrificed on the altar of political expedience. If there is one common thread that runs throughout LET FREEDOM RING, it is that the right of self-defense, whether for an individual or for a nation, is a paramount right; if one cannot defend their person or their home, or a nation its borders, then their life, home, and nation will be lost. Hannity's message is not lost in his writing style; rather, his way with words enhances his argument. LET FREEDOM RING reads less like a treatise and more like a transcript of a conversation. It does not contain any new revelations for those who have been paying attention to the errors of commission and omission that were so underreported during the 1990s. LET FREEDOM RING may be ignored by the very audience that needs it the most, but for the choir to which Hannity preaches, his ability to clearly and concisely make his arguments will shine like a beacon. Hannity has recently been urged to make a run for political office; while his inclination toward that particular arena is not known at this point, it is rapidly becoming self-evident that his intelligence, articulate style, and physical and emotional charisma will enable him to be successful at any task he might choose to undertake. Hannity is a man to watch, and LET FREEDOM RING is a book to be read, studied, and pondered. --- Reviewed by Joe Hartlaub
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: I am very impressed with the easy read. I try to get the more conservative views out of books, television and radio since the media continues to provide only one side (left). I find Hannity's view coincides with the majority of America who may be muffled under a liberal hand. I highly recommend this book to all those who want to hear how America is great. God Bless America and God Bless Sean Hannity!
Rating: Summary: A well researched book of Truth, the best since Rush! Review: It's about time more conservatives came out and told the truth. Liberals have pretty much dominated most media outlets. Thank God for people like Sean, Rush Limbaugh, and Roger Hedgecock. I can't wait for Mr Hannity's next book. He is thorough in his research and direct in the facts. No spin here. If you want to learn more about the truth of our country and the way things really are, this is a must read. I think even Liberals might even be able to comprehend this book, although it will require them to step aside from their blind loyalty to the Liberal mindset. Found the book to be very rewarding. Keep up the good work Sean!
Rating: Summary: A timely,"must read" for all Americans Review: Although I should not be surprised by anything these days I cannot belive that a person(s) who did not read this book would have the cheek to review it because that's clearly what was done. How do I know this?? Easy, as all negative reviews quite obviously come from the smug, bourgeois,"free speech-unless we don't agree with you", left who couldn't be bothered to be read anything ,least of something as powerful as Mr. Hannity's book, that would make them confront the chic, sloganeering that they belive passes for legitimate politics. If they had honestly and objectively (and we all know liberals, except when it comes to pandering to minor ,special interest groups,is the most close minded of all)read this book they might just realise just how foolish, ignorant and damaging they are to this Country. The leftist "thought police" in their anti-American fervor quite obviously are scared of Sean Hannity. Why is this?Is it because he instills pride and hope and the faith that all is not lost?? That it's ok to love our country and to protect and live by the constitution? Why are they so scared? Why don't "they" want you to read this book?? Do not fall for the liberal lefts lies......If you love freedom ,read this book! If you love America, read this book! And for the record....I am non racist ,a vegan and republican-Have a GREAT day!!!
Rating: Summary: College drop out should go back to school Review: Wow! What an unbelievable read! I am not surprised that Hannity is a college dropout, because if he handed this book in to a Prof. he would get it thrown straight back at him for out and out lies! I did however, give this 2 stars, quiet simply because I laughed my [tush] off! God Bless Hannity and God Bless America!
Rating: Summary: A good primer on the basics of American conservatism Review: This book was a bit of a disappointment. I listen to Sean on the radio all the time, and I think he's one of the most honest and straightforward conservative voices out there. But this book was more of a primer in modern conservatism, and too focused on current events for my taste. If you're a liberal, this book is a good choice to read about "the other side" of American politics. If you are a conservative, there are much better books such as Ann Coulter's delightfully witty and insightful "Slander". Unless you only get your news from NPR and want to broaden your horizons, save yourself the time and effort and skip this one (sorry, Sean!)
Rating: Summary: A Must Read Review: This is a must read book. Read it, then look around. Pay close attention and you will find that Sean is right on. It will make you sick to your stomach and then angry at how the liberal left is taking this country on a rapid spiral down into the cesspool of their liberal agenda. It's time to put a stop to it now before it is too late. We owe Sean a huge THANK YOU for his dedication and perservence in exposing what is really going on.
