Summary: A fairly enjoyable book, if you can ignore the many flaws
Review: I picked this book up after seeing the film version; the book was even better than the movie. Thinking that I've found a new author to read, I rushed out and bought four other Patterson novels. Into the 3rd book, I started to realize something: he writes the same novel over & over, and his formula doesn't hold up after more than one book. Although he writes fast-paced, fairly involving stories, his dialogue is awkward and his characters are unbelievbale. His good guys are too good to be true, and his bad guys are too evil to be believable. Patterson's main character, Alex Cross, is so insufferably perfect, I came to despise him. I was actually hoping for him to be killed in the last novel I read, and was disappointed when he wasn't. (I can honestly say this is the 1st time I've taken such a dislike to a fictional character.) My advise is to read one Patterson novel, with "Kiss The Girls" being the best bet, and then move onto a new author.

Review: This is a thriller that reads like a cheap romance novel. The plot is simple and the characters are trite and unreal. After reading a Forsythe novel, this novel reads like a comic book. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is that it is a mercifully fast read.

Review: I have been a Patterson fan for almost a year and this book was difficult to put down. He has worked up the suspense really well in this one. The details of the torture that the one killer puts the woman through was so detailed that I shuddered to myself. I would not recommend to children or adults with weak stomachs though... it is pretty graphic. Great book!

Summary: Frighteningly suspenseful!
Review: Yes, this book is frightening and very suspenseful. I would recommend this book to anyone who has a passion for nail biting thrillers. This is a mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. If you like mysteries this one was written for you. Kiss the Girls is about frightening man in his mid twenties. He goes by the name "Casanova". This creepy character stalks and then captures beautiful, inteligent, young women. Once captured he brings them to his home deep within the thick forrest of North Carolina and locks them up in a room. He then goves them certain rules to follow. If they break these rules Casanova puts a frightening end to their life. In this distrubing case there are many detectives trying to solve it. There is one detective Cross who is passionately involved because his neice Naomi has been captured by Casanova. Detective Cross refuses to rest until Casanova is captured and broughtr to justice. The terribly suspenseful, frightening ending has several surprising twists. I guess you'll just have to read it to find out. This book has a lot of good aspects. It is loaded with gripping suspense from start to finish. The frightening story never lets you take a rest. Another great aspect of the book is that it has very short, snappy chapters. Each chapter is only about 2 to 3 pages long and ends in a very suspenseful twist. This style of writing makes for non-stop, action-packed thrills. There are not many bad aspects about this book. One of the drawbacks is that the author goes into too many gory details. It is also very hard to follow who is who in this book. The good aspects of this story definitely outweigh the bad aspects, therefore, rush to your nearest bookstore and buy this book today.

Summary: His best- it will haunt you
Review: Kiss The Girls was my favorite James Patterson novel! I read this book a few years ago and still vividly remember the haunting story of a saddistic killer... This book got me hooked on Alex Cross, a detective I found very likable and whose life I became interested in. In this book his niece is one of the victims he's trying to save from an insane psychopath that is abducting girls. Alex is on a race against time to see if he can save her. For those who say that the characters in this book are not believable, I totally disagree. And as for the plot, I read approximately 100 books a year, and only remember the full plot of very few, and this is one of them- That tells me the story is memorable. It might not be deep-thinking, Pulitzer prize worthy, but most crime thrillers are not, that's not why people read them, they're for entertainment value. After reading this I picked up every Patterson book I could find...and I'm still a fan today- if that's not a recommendation for you, I don't know what is!

Summary: Dive in dementia nand sexual deviancy
Review: This is my first James Patterson novel and I found him gripping, engaging and a master of terse prose (Shrunk & White would love his style). This is an enthralling thriller of detective, dementia, and sexual deviancy that sucks you in like a whirlpool and doesn't let you go until the very end. But, there is one thing that is getting worn and frayed, both in this novel and in contemporary story writing (and Hollywood), and that is the over used story line where the brilliant, beautiful white female (doctor) is swooped up by the athletic, accomplished black male (detective). It would be refreshing to see the reverse profile happen just once - brilliant beautiful black female wins the heart of an accomplished, athletic white male. I have never seen it written. Ok, I am getting down off of my soap box. This spellbinding thriller is strongly recommended. Highly recommended

Summary: Like being scared beyond reasonable fear?
Review: Patterson does such a good job in this book, it is the last book of his I read. Yes, he scared me. The very precision with which this villian goes about his business, how easy it was for him, the depth of his illness and the lengths he went to, it was too much for my poor little mind. I can't read Patterson anymore, but he is a master of the craft.

Review: When I read 'Kiss The Girls', I thought this book was masterful.
This is the second Alex Cross adventures, and i truly loved this novel. The novel is based on 'Casanova' and 'The Gentleman' these two men are notorious for collecting women from different backgrounds and different personalities.
Then when the kidnapping of Alex Cross's niece, Alex Cross then decides that he needs to find her, and goes to Virginia to find her, but he is out of his jurdiscidation, but that does not matter to Alex because his niece is gone, and he wants to fine her.
But then when one woman escapes from the hands of 'Casanova', she then finds Alex and tries to help him locate 'Casanova', but Alex does know that 'Casanova' and 'The Gentleman' have been working together, and he needs to find out now, and find his niece before she is possibly killed.
Now how this novel ends, I dont want to ruin the ending, but it is definitely a collection getter.

Summary: A fun read, but ultimately disappointing
Review: The second in James Patterson's Alex Cross series, Kiss The Girls is a mindless read that will keep you happily occupied for the ten hours it takes to read it, but ultimately this is a disappointing and annoying book. Yes, it is suspenseful. Yes, most of the characters are engaging, sympathetic and endearing. Yes, it is worth the [money] it costs to purchase it, but... This Alex Cross superhero character is less than believable. Idealized to the point of the absurd, Alex Cross is a caricature of the noble African-American man. Intelligent, principled and charming, Cross is presented as a faultless, one-dimensional character whose actions and thoughts are never adequately explained. He is instead presented as the perfect person, lacking the conflicts and contradictory personality traits that make a person fully rounded. What's more, Patterson is clumsy in leading the reader to suspect the wrong person is Cassanova, one of the two serial killers that are terrorizing the US. Once you learn Cassanova's real identity, you are left with an annoying "Oh please; give me a break" moment. What Patterson does succeed in doing is bashing America at every turn. I could do with less of his commentary about the proliferation of serial killers in America and more good old fashion detective novel clues. If I were to meet Mr. Patterson, all of whose books I intend to read, I'd love to ask him why he thinks there are allegedly so few serial killers outside of the US and Europe. Does Patterson think that has anything to do with how little freedom Africans, Middle Easterners and Asians enjoy? Could it have anything to do with the fact that none of these regions enjoys freedom of the press? If a country is lead by a serial killer dictator, do you or does Mr. Patterson believe the mass murdering leader would allow the population the freedom to do anything other than eke out a subsistence living and attend state-sponsor "we love our leader" pep rallies? Another quibble I have with the series is Patterson's obsession with interracial love affairs. While I do not care in the slightest that Alex Cross appears to prefer doing the horizontal mambo with white women, I cannot help but notice that the only people who have any problem with it are Patterson's vilified Southern red necks. Where is the black female voice here? With the exception of Cross's 80-something grandmother, Nana Mama, you don't hear a peep out black women in Patterson's books. Still I like the Alex Cross series and have already begun reading Jack & Jill. Here's to hoping it will offer fewer exclamation points and better clues.

Summary: Patterson does it again!
Review: Now many of you know Patterson as a great murder mystery writer, but he really outdoes himself in this novel. I have read almost every Patterson novel written and this one is by far the best. From the opening sentences he will have you hooked and captivated in a storyline that keeps your nose in the book until the very last word. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well-written thriller.
