Rating: Summary: What an encouragement Review: I'm reading this book for the 4th time since November. I keep finding more useful information each time I read it (verifiable by the amount of the text that gets hilighted each time I read it). I've taken the "Bob Challenge" that the author challenges the reader with and it has been a great success. It is also a great sequel for anyone currently going through or who has gone through the national "40 Days of Purpose" campaign.

Rating: Summary: Excellent & Insightful Review: John Ortberg does a good job of sharing our need to move out of our place of comfort in order to be where God calls us to be. And why should we move in faith? Because that's exactly where Jesus is. This book is an excellent challenge to many Christians today. I would definately recommend it to all. Although it is a great book, I found the message most impacting in the beginning and middle portions of the book, and the last sections to drag on a little. Nevertheless, I think you will enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: From the heart Review: John Ortberg finds an avenue to everyone's heart with his gift for writing (and speaking). The Willow Creek Church teaching pastor's latest book challenges the reader to an adventure that promises excitement, mystery and reward. In his picture of Peter, as the most courageous and misunderstood of Christ's disciples, Ortberg explains how faith can rock your boat while delivering you from your storm. His gift for making us laugh and cry inside of a few short paragraphs makes this offering a great read for seekers and believers alike.
Rating: Summary: Get Out of Your Comfort Zone! Review: Ortberg's book is an excellent challenge to evaluate your way of thinking and to get out of your comfort zone and be mightily used of God.Among the many excellent points Ortberg mentions are: 1. What happens when God works in a person's life. 2. Our gifts will either be used or unused for God's glory. 3. Take your calling from God seriously and accept your limitations. 4. Appreciate the gifts God has given you, utilize them for His glory, and refuse to compare yourself with others. 5. Fear may be the biggest reason we fail to trust and obey God. 6. Be willing to wait on God and His timing and methods. 7. Suggestions for staying focused on Jesus. 8. Let God be larger than the people around you. Again, these are just a few of the many points mentioned in the book. An excellent read and supplement to the Bible. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Short and sweet. Review: This book has a sweetness about it that makes it an enjoyable read. I took a few notes on the book as I was reading it, and feel the author makes some great points in a way that's easy to remember. I am interested in now reading some of the author's other books. A quick read and a positive message.
Rating: Summary: challenge and encouragement Review: This book has had a profound influence on my life. It has challenged me to listen to God's calling and to live out my faith with integrity. I found myself underlining something on almost every page, and I was moved to prayer, tears or both with each chpater. John is my pastor and the truth he presents in this book is reinforced by his teaching at our church. I know that he doesn't just write these truths, he lives them out. If you are ready to take the next big step in your walk of faith, this book will give you clear directions on how to do it!
Rating: Summary: drawing God outside the lines in crayon Review: This book is a beautifully penned guide to inspiration. With wit, humor, and creativity, the author facilitates the reader's thinking to the outside of the box and provides a remedy to spiritual stagnation, that while it takes effort is sweet to swallow and even sweeter in its rewards. Highly recommended to those of us that need a playful kick in the backside to reprise our terk on the path to sipirtual understanding.

Rating: Summary: A must For Everyone! Review: This book is a wonderful tool for those of you who wish to walk on water and not merely sit in the boat and be an observer! This book is so challenging and motivating that when you finish reading it, you will be ready, with the help of the Savior, to experience life to the fullest!
