Rating: Summary: Mary Catherine's Review Review: An artist named Sarah came to live with a family who did not have a mother. She started painting pictures of the sea and sang songs about nature with the family every evening after supper. One day she asked if she could borrow the horse and carriage to go to town. The family was unsure if Sarah was going to return from her shopping trip. Sarah returned with paint in the colors of the sea which were blue, green, and grey. She used these colors in her paintings which she hung in the home and the barn. Sarah fell in love with the father of the two children and in the end she married him and they lived as a family. The End.

Rating: Summary: A poetic story about love and family Review: "Sarah, Plain and Tall," by Patricia MacLachlan, received the 1986 Newbery Medal, a distinguished honor in the world of literature for young people. The honor was well deserved. "Sarah" is a warm, moving story."Sarah" is a story told in the first-person by Anna, a young farm girl who lives with her widowed father and younger brother, Caleb. Anna's father sends by mail for a prospective new wife: Sarah, a woman from the Maine seacoast. As the story unfolds, Sarah arrives on the farm and gets to know the family. MacLachlan writes in a simple but poetic style that expertly conveys the emotions of her characters. MacLachlan is wonderful at catching the details of farm life, which the reader discovers along with Sarah. I also like the way MacLachlan evokes the Maine coastal landscape through Sarah's dialogue. There is a subtle suspense to the story: will Sarah decide to stay and become a part of the story? I won't give away the ending. But I will say that "Sara" is a gentle and compassionate book for readers of all ages.
Rating: Summary: A Review For Parents Review: I bought this for my ten-year old daughter. But before doing so, I had to take a peek to see what all the five-star reviews were about. This is a read that I'm sure your children would love. It's the kind of read that will keep your child fixated on the pages. Not many books can do that. It's an innocent and old-fashion story that doesn't have the typical witches, goblins and other thngs that hooks children in order to increase book sales. Even without these things my daughter still enjoyed this wonderful story.
Rating: Summary: Wow! That was great! Review: Every kid should give this book a five star. Because it makes kids more educated. When kids get stuck on a word they can say it slowly and hear the sounds. The characters were great too. The scary part was when the storm struck. But they got all the animals in. Oops I forgot about something. I forgot to tell you that they lived on a farm. Times up! I have to go. The End.
Rating: Summary: Mom can I read it again? Review: Mom can I read it again? Please?! Please, please, please, please?! It's the best chapter book every! What? What is it called? Sarah Plain and Tall. And they need a mom so Jacob gets a lady that is named Sarah. You have to read this book to find out if they get married.
