Rating: Summary: Been there, done that Review: This is another one of those books that promises the world, and leaves you quite disappointed. How many of us have felt like this when purchasing a self-help book... very excited at first, a little less excited after the first couple of chapters, and then, finally, totally burned. It was really nothing new, and some of the approaches border on the ridiculous.
Rating: Summary: Appalling waste of money - try common sense instead! Review: This is my second review for this appaling waste of money self-help book - the first review has mysteriously disappeared (along with a few other critical reviews perhaps). Strange that! I'm sure I never swore or anything but I was pretty passionate about the book being lousey. Out of principle and not wanting to waste any more time on this book these are my comments in brief ... the first thing about this book is the title, which is completely misleading and promises the world but delivers very little. What ever you do, don't expect too much with this book - the author simply passes on 'tricks and tips'which are little more than common sense and some are so ludicrous and superficial that trying them in the real world is tantamount to making you a laughing stock. The problem is the superficiality and the lack of real insight into why people behave and act as they do. Even as an introduction to 'influencing others' the book falls woefully short. See other negative reviews for more information.
Try Robert Cialdini if you want to really know about influence, and if you are interested in POWER then try Robert Greene 48 Laws of Power for a starter.Enough said...
Hope this negative review and others stay on so readers can at least be given some pause for thought before buying this book. Don't say you haven't been warned!
Rating: Summary: The book I've been looking for, for years Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read! It has nothing to do with "manipulation," as some reviewers have said, and everything to do with basic psychology and human behavior. These techniques and methods for dealing with people are vital to anyone in any field relating to people. This book's ideas are priceless and can easily help anyone be more effective in their personal or business life. Get this book and keep it close at hand. You'll want to refer to it again and again.
