Rating: Summary: This one gets only one star and that's only because it's Ro Review: this book is really bad. I'm sorry but it is not worth buying or borrowing. Rosie don't quit your day job!!
Rating: Summary: Rosie for Real Review: I just finished this book, and I can honestly say it has changed my life, and the way I look at it. What Rosie calls "spingles", I have always called "God Bumps". This book gave me God Bumps! I read some of the other reviews before writing mine, and I have to say I was pretty disappointed in most of them. The ones that didn't like the book and went off on Rosie about helping someone she didn't know, didn't get it! Through this experience, Rosie helped herself. She found herself. I was in tears by the end of the book. I felt like I just finished reading a book about me! I am alot like Rosie, inside and out. I lost my mother, but as an adult. I too always feel like I have to help everyone. Reading this book helped me understand why I do this. Thank you Rosie, for sharing the real you, and how you found it. This book will always remain #1 on my list!
Rating: Summary: Honest and Revealing Review: This book shows a side of Rosie that has previously been hidden from her audience. Although the story is extreme, I think everyone has put themselves in a situation they later realized might have been unsafe. It is easy to relate to Rosie in this quick read.
Rating: Summary: A glimpse of Rosie as we've never seen her - Review: This book offers a glimpse of Rosie as we've never seen her: vulnerable, often alone, and prey to her fears. I didn't know what to expect when I purchased "Find Me" to read on a day-long bus trip to Washington DC. I found myself unable to put the book down, once I'd started. As Rosie tells it, "fame doesn't fix everything", and I was pleasantly surprised by her ability, as a new author, to draw her reading audience into the fold of her semi-dark and true tale ...
Rating: Summary: A Great Read Review: I read this book last night and I cried. It touched me, deeply. I, too, have a "trauma tattoo" and I am a "swamp person"....If you have a heart, you will love this book.If you are expecting some light, fluffy "tell-all" then you would be wrong. This is written from the heart. I loved this book. I love Rosie for being brave and sharing this powerful story.
Rating: Summary: Surprising. Review: I couldn't put FIND ME down, not because it was such an interesting biography, or the story of her adopted children, but because of the story of Stacie! I thought this was going to be the story of Rosie's life, but it really wasn't. It was a psychological profile of her thoughts, values, cares and opened my eyes to the fact that she doesn't put much stock in the entertainment industry. In other words money isn't everything...that is when you have it. I admire Rosie O'Donnell so much now and wish her rainbows and sunshine in her "retirement."
Rating: Summary: Pay no heed to the Rosie-Haters... Review: Wow. I can't believe that people would be disappointed in this book. For those of you who read this to get glimpses of her romantic experiences, get a life. Don't buy a book with expectations of it's content. Expect quality. It's not up to you to decide what someone should write. For those of you who want to read this book without any prerequisites, I thoroughly recommend it. This book is almost a novel; you constantly have to remind yourself that it's a true story. The main theme of the book is Rosie's urge to help others, and this plot twists and turns like a mystery novel. I finished the book right before I watched the final episode of Rosie's show, and now I can't decide if that was a good idea. I now see Rosie as the whole person she is, as opposed to the light, funny, chubby talk-show host. She is one of my favorite celebs, and it was hard to read about her pain and dark feelings. The book served it's purpose. It showed me what it's like to be Ro O'Donnell. All she wanted in writing her memoir was to be heard, and hopefully understood. Her words hit strikingly close to home for many of us in the world. It's a quick and easy read, but you feel a bit deeper and more connected to one of the most loved comdiennes of our time. Buy it! P.S. Rosie is not too revealing by any means in her book. If you want to know about her, buy the book. If you don't want to know about her, don't buy it.
Rating: Summary: Rosie...Get Professional Help! Review: Forget the large text, blank pages, and dreadful writing and focus on the content, and behavior of one of the most narcissistic people you will ever encounter. What you come up with is a woman who is terribly disturbed...Rosie. Rosie reaches out to a woman she barely knows, meddles in things she knows nothing about, and never considers how her actions will impact those involved. What's up with the therapist who allows this to happen? Sick people are attracted to sick people, and Rosie is definitely sick. This book is all about Rosie meeting her needs. I can't believe this woman was allowed to adopt children! A very troubling book.
Rating: Summary: Touching Review: I bought a copy of "Find Me" by Rosie O'Donnell because I've always been a great fan of hers from the time she was on MTV. I really enjoyed her book and respect her for being so honest and revealing such a private and unusual experience. For many in the spotlight it could be terribly embarrasing. Not only does she bring us into her world both past and present, but she also brings to light a little about the world of mental illness and those left behind. The parts about her childhood and her mother at times made me cry because I could so identify with her thoughts and emotions. It was uncanny how she put to words how I've felt so many times and the attitudes we both share. In the book she tells of how she comes to know a girl, via e-mail, who is pregnant and looking to put her baby up for adoption. As it turns out the girl is one of many personalities of a woman states away with a computer and an internet connection. She never asks anything of Ro but does form an interesting and sometimes scary relationship with her. Time goes by and more and more is revealed to Ro as she figures out that what she thinks is real is not. That does not scare her away. It just poses more of a challenge for her and she continues to try and "find" and help this woman. Her journey also takes her back into her childhood where the nuances of this girl spark memories of days where, for Ro, things weren't so rosey. She takes you along with her giving you a glipse of what life was like growing up poor with a sick mother who leaves her life all too soon. The criticism I have about the book is that it was too short and I wish that it had a bit more depth. When I finished the book I was left wanting to learn more about "Ro" and her life. It would be nice if she could put to paper the story of her childhood and how she got to where she is today.
Rating: Summary: AMAZINGING!!! Review: As a biblophile, I seldom waste my time on celebrity tell-alls that relate who they slept with and where it got them. However, I wanted Rosie's book because she promised she didn't do that. She kept her word, and what enfolds in this gripping tale captivated my interest. She writes with heart, raw truth that bleeds, self-depricating humor, and proseful ability. I related so deeply to this book, as I too had a childhood from hell, and have wondered why I survived while others didn't? Her poignancy in sharing her behaviors had me crying and nodding, and the bizzare experience that awakens her self-analysis is harrowing, but intriguing. I loved this book. I hope she writes more, even fiction, because the talent is there. I read that professional reviewers thought she should have written more about her sex life? My response.....Get a life, Pro-Reviewers! The points made here will help so many and her sex life is her own business!!!!!!! Thank-you Rosie for sharing what was important, and sparing us the rest.
