Rating: Summary: A great western novel Review: When I first seen this book, I didn't even want to start reading it. I didn't think I would ever be able to finish with out getting sick of the novel. But as I started reading the book, and getting into it, I couldn't quit. I didn't care how long it was, I wasn't going to quit reading. This is probably one of the best books I have ever read. The author does an excellent job making you get to know the characters, and I never wondered one time what was going on. After reading this book, I'm excited to read another book written by Larry McMurtry
Rating: Summary: Lonesome Dove Review Review: Lonesome Dove was one of the best book I have ever read. Larry McMurtry is excellent at putting the reader in the story. I felt like I was on the cattle drive. When one of the characters died it felt like I was losing a friend, because McMurtry did an excellent job of getting personal with each and every character. He always went to Newt for the emotional side of the story. He did a good job at describing the setting and the feelings that were associated with the events that were happening. I would reccomend this book to those who are interested in the western life and the lifestyles many of the people had in the early 1900's.
Rating: Summary: unchallengeable Review: Lonesome dove was the greatest book of that genre that I have ever read. Mcmurtry makes you feel like you went throught the pains of a cattle drive and the joys of being loved by others. He made you care for the characters like no author could. He would draw you into the complex settings and the surroundings so profoundly that it made you feel like you were sitting on the porch with gus pulling at the jug and kicking pigs. lonesome dove was the best western book I have ever read. No other book can even come close to the literary quality and content that is contained in this book. It is simply the best.
Rating: Summary: Lonesome Dove Review: I liked how Larry Mcmurtry made it sound real and how he always had action going. he had good characters like gus and call I liked how he made them Texas Rangers. They always went everywhere with each other but i don't think that they always agreed with each other on things that they did. I didn't like how the book ended.
Rating: Summary: Lonesome Dove Review: I thought that the book was enteresting in some spots but pretty boring in others. The details in the book where very well described so that I could see them clearly in my head. some of the content was a bit to explanatory but it helped put thge thoughts of what was going on into your mind which helped me understand the book better.
Rating: Summary: Lonesome Dove Review: I think this was a great book, full of adventure and enthusaium. It kept you interested in what was going to happen next so you kept on reading. This was an outstanding book. I recommend it to anyone wanting to read a really good book. It portyayed the western frontier, they cattle drive and how things really were in the west. It described the characters through out the whole book and made you apart of the book. Very good book.
Rating: Summary: Lonesome Dove Review: I thought it was a good insterting book to read if you didn't have a teacher to put more into the book then what there was meant to be. The book was full of really events that had happen and could happen on a really cattle drive in the old western era. Agian I say the book would have been better if the teacher would have confused the author writting with his own opion of what he meant. Great book to read on your own but not in a school setting, with anenglish teacher. It would be alright to read in a Western Frontier class.
Rating: Summary: Lonesome Dove Review: I thought the book was full of adventure and exciting things. There was a lot of events happening that kept a person on their seat throught out the book. I think it will keep alot of readers reading it, nobody is going to stop reading it. It is a wonderful book. My favorite character was Gus because he was always the main character no matter what was happening he was always there. And he seemed to be everyones favorite man through the whole trip to Montana.
