Rating: Summary: lyrical, writing that floats your soul on an Irish breeze... Review: Ms. Roberts writes this story beautifully. The words are jewels. I've been to Ireland and the author transported me back to everything I loved about Kerry, Galway, Waterford, Dublin, etc. A fun love story with a sweet fairy tale woven in.
Rating: Summary: fun reading Review: I had never read Nora Roberts before and I was pleasantly surprised. I read romance novels every so often but in general I dont like the genre. I make a special exception to Nora Roberts. This book evokes american women's fascination with Ireland and in particular with good looking earthy irish men. I loved every minute of this book.
Rating: Summary: A fun read Review: I was excited to read this book because I was going to Ireland. I thought, what a great way to get ready for the trip by reading a fun book about Ireland. I was right. The book talked a lot about Irish myths and legends and about the people in the country. I loved the part where the author talked about Jude's experience with driving the car in Ireland (I completely understood) and about the sites of Dublin because I had just gone to those very sites. The love story itself was also good. Adian the handsome Irishman who'd traveled the world and Jude the American who was experience a brand new world outside of Chicago. I enjoyed the way Nora Roberts used myths in the romance and made us appreciate the legends even more. Ireland is so full of history and legends that it's hard to not get swept up in them.Romances are not books I usually read, but I really enjoyed it. If you are going to Ireland, this is definitely a good book to get you excited for your adventure!
Rating: Summary: Celtic passion with terrific narration Review: Jude Murray leaves America for Faerie Hill Cottage, Ireland, to evaluate her life and immerse herself in Irish folklore. There she discovers hope for her future in the magic of the past. Then there is Aidan Gallagher with an uncommon understanding of his country's myths. Together they create a celtic passion all their own. Terrific narration by Patricia Daniels!
Rating: Summary: She's done it, again! Review: I just finished reading the trilogy, Jewels of the Sun, Tears of the Moon, and Heart of the Sea. I am an avid Nora Roberts fan, and am continually amazed at her ability to spin such fantastic tales. She makes you feel as if you ARE the heroine in her books. While the possibilty of fairies and such are far fetched, she makes you so love these characters, that you can't put her books down. I recommend any of Nora's unabridged books. Once you read one of them, you will be hooked, and searching for more titles!!
Rating: Summary: Well Worth The Wait!!!! Review: Although I have had Jewels Of The Sun since it was released, I just now read it. I had a feeling I would fall in love with characters so quick and easy, as with all Nora's series, I wanted to wait till I had all books in hand before starting. As hard as the wait was, it was well worth it!!! In Jewels Of The Sun, we meet Jude Frances Murray, a professor from Chicago. Realizing the life she is living isn't for her, she runs off to Ireland to find herself. While there she meets Aidan Gallagher, who runs the local pub. While Jewels Of The Sun centers around Jude and Aidan falling in love, it also involves a tale of Gwen and Carrick, both ghosts from centuries ago searching for lost love. As far fetched as I believe ghost tales are, I found myself losing myself in the whole Irish/faerie/ghost scene. I have already fallen in love with the whole gang in the book, and can't wait to finish the rest of the series. Boy, I am so glad I waited now!! Between Jude and Aidan, you can't leave out the rest of the Gallagher siblings (Shawn and Darcy), not to mention Brenna O'Toole, what a hoot they are!!! I could go on and on about characters you will just love, but I will leave it to you to read this series and see for yourself. Believe me Jewels Of The Sun won't dissappoint. Nora had done it again!!!
Rating: Summary: First in a trilogy will leave you longing for the other two! Review: Jude Murray comes to Ireland to rediscover her heritage and herself. What she discovers is the love of Aidan Gallagher. But can she trust him enough to give him her heart? And can he trust her with his? Fairytales intermingle with reality in this first book in Nora Roberts' new Irish trilogy. It will leave you hankering for the rest!
Rating: Summary: NORA JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER Review: I DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT I CAN ADD SINCE ITS BEEN SAID IN SO MANY REVIEWS, BUT THIS BOOK IS EXCELLANT! YOU ARE REALLY THERE IN IRELAND AND THE CHARACTERS ARE SO GREAT AND COME ALIVE! YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK. IT IS ONE OF HER BEST SERIES EVER! DON'T MISS IT!!
Rating: Summary: 'Jewels' is bedazzling! Review: This is a great book if you want a nice romance story with a fantastic setting. The description of the Irish countryside was very detailed and it sounded so wonderful that I was ready to jump on a plane and leave the day after I finished it. I thought Jude was a refreshingly unconventional heroine in that she seemed like more like an average person with everyday concerns, rather than some stuck-up beauty queen. I especially liked her slightly neurotic sense of humor. There's not a lot of action (or sex scenes, if you're into that sort of thing) but it didn't detract from the book at all. Though I wasn't crazy about the supernatural scenes, Ms. Roberts kept them short and conveyed them in a mundane, realistic kind of light, which helped in not turning me off to the story. I liked the ending and the clever ways in which the story's loose ends are tied together, and the way it's foreshadowed that there will be sequels following. I think it's a great romance novel that many people will enjoy, and I recommend it very highly.
Rating: Summary: An easy read Review: I have to agree that this is a medium book for NR. Yet, for her that is still above average. It seemed rather slow at the beginning and the characters were somewhat boring at times. I sensed no great passion, but Ireland was enchanting as well as the reader in the unabridged version. Give it a try for a change of pace.
