Rating: Summary: Nora Roberts at her best again Review: I just finished this book last week and once again Nora Roberts has created a dream book. I have enjoyed reading all of her books and now she has come up with another best seller in my book. I think Nora Roberts is one of the best female writers in the world. The way she writes in Jewel of the Sun takes me there in my dreams and makes me wish that I could go to Ireland and live. She makes "magic" seem real and the way she describes the tiny village is almost like a dream come true. I throughly enjoyed Jewel of the Sun and can't wait for the next book to get here.
Rating: Summary: A jewel of a book Review: I am am avid Nora Roberts fan and collect all her books. I must say that Jewels of the Sun is one of my favorites. Her words describing Ireland are absolutely magical. As for the characters of Jude and Aidan, I enjoyed their story. A must read.
Rating: Summary: The Charm of Ireland Review: This novel brings describes the one of the great mysteries of Ireland. She combines a romantic adventure with the fairy tales and the great history felt throughout Ireland. Nora manages to describe exactly the feel of Ireland; Grafton St., the old ruins, the coast, the fog... I could go on. If you are looking for an adventure in Ireland, it is a wonderful story. Add to that the romance that brews between the American and the Irishman and it is fit for a fantasy. I have never been more pleased with one of Nora Roberts books. Her characters are each a piece of yourself. I didn't realize it until halfway through, but the characters become you - as ever great writer manages to make happen.
Rating: Summary: Romantic Charmer...good for a summer's day read Review: I enjoyed the book, however I don't feel it was the best that Nora Roberts has written. The plot was laid out from early on...so very little complex thinking needed for this book. There is no suspense what so ever. BUT.. a good romantic tale with beautiful imagery, I was throughly swept off my feet with Ireland and the interesting folk that inhabit the mythical island..including my namesake "Brenna". The next book shall be interesting with her and Shawn's courtship.
Rating: Summary: Made me run to my own local Irish pub! Review: After finishing this book (and in practically one sitting), I can't claim it changed my life -- I already knew I wanted to hie myself back over to Ireland to find myself... to find myself a nice Irishman, that is! Not being able to jump on the plane, I ran down to my local Irish pub for an evening of music and craic. My only complaint is that Roberts' romances leave me dissatisfied with the state of the real world!
Rating: Summary: JEWELS OF THE SUN Review: THIS IS AN EXCELLENT BOOK AND VERY EASY TO READ (SMOOTH READING). VERY ROMANTIC, WHEN READING ITS LIKE YOUR RIGHT THERE AND YOU SEE ALL THEY SEE. I AM RATING THIS AS A 5 AND I CAN'T WAIT TILL THE 2ND BOOK IS RELEASED.
Rating: Summary: Faith and Begorrah, it's a Cup of Irish Blarney Review: Nora Roberts has obviously steeped herself in Irish life and lore, sniffing the peat, skulking through the ruins, strolling through the dew, and copying, carefully, painstakingly, every convoluted bit of Irish syntax ever invented. For example: "The ceilings were open, the rafters exposed, and many was the Saturday night when the music was loud enough that those rafters shook. The floor was scarred from the boots of men, the scrape of chair and stool..." One or two sentences of this is fine, but an entire paperback of it is enough to turn me green as a shamrock. I know some people are enchanted with flowery language--Kathleen Woodiwiss has a loyal following--but I find it distances me from the story, making it too charming, too contrived, and too syrupy to slog through. If the characters were new and inventive, it might make an interesting contrast with the language, but instead we have a hero right out of John Wayne's The Quiet Man and a heroine straight from several other Roberts novels. For those who read this and are ready to buy their own flowery cottage by the sea--please remember that this is, partly, a fairy story.
Rating: Summary: If you crave more Maeve Binchy read this Review: The way that Nora Roberts spins this tale of relationships in a quaint Irish village was just what I needed (mind candy) when I read it. Reminded me of Maeve Binchy's works.
Rating: Summary: Captures the Spirit of Ireland Review: This was the first Nora Roberts that I ever read, and I fell in love with her style. Every subsequent book has just shown me that she truly is a genuis. Having been to Ireland recently, just shortly after reading this book, I was impressed that all the imagery that was in the book was true. Roberts has truly caught the spirit, mystery and magic of the land as well as the friendly atmosphere and charming locals. Even her discription of driving difficulties was fairly accurate. Havign read the book I feel I saw Ireland in a different way, indeed I see life differently. Nora Roberts has a way of weaving magic into everything she writes. This book is an excellent example.
Rating: Summary: Jewels of the Sun Review: I am a great fan of Nora Roberts and always enjoy her trilogies. This one was whimsical and fun. I loved the Irish setting and the hunky Adain. A really pleasurable read...I'm really looking forward to the next installment...as a matter of fact I have pre-ordered it...I am a woman of faith, I know it will be great!
