Rating: Summary: heart stopping Review: Sharon Gless did a wonderful job in narrating this story. It is not a story to listen to while driving your car. I am personally connected to a member of Cheryl's family and it still gives me chills to hear this story.
Rating: Summary: In a word.....AWESOME Review: This book was great! I had my doubts about it , partly because a friend that read it said it was awful...but I must say it was awesome. It opens up your eyes to the fact that not everything or everyone is what they seem.I highly recommend this book! You wont be disappointed
Rating: Summary: Local Thriller Review: This book was one of the first true-crime novels I ever read. I picked it up at an airport (another reviewer mentioned the same thing - must be the thing to do) because it took place in Oregon. I was fascinated (and horrified) by the fact that these crimes took place in locales I drove by every day. It was like a car accident - I couldn't look away, hideous as it was, knowing that this man lived and killed in my beloved city.Ann Rule has a way with criminal stories - making them accessible to the average reader but including all the details fit to lure in those more familiar with the genre. She includes plenty of backstory and it's obvious she has spent countless hours interviewing and observing key players. I've added more of her books to my wish list. [An aside: Does Ms. Rule do a lot more writing of true-crime in the Pacific Northwest than in other areas or is it just location-bias on my part? If so, why? Does she like the area or does the PNW have a lot more murders and serial killings? Just a simple observation...]
Rating: Summary: Gripping, chilling story of the antisocial personality! Review: This book, like all Ann Rule books, was gripping and held my undivided attention from start to finish. However, I was left with some glaring questions that were somehow not addressed completely. Ann, if you're out there, maybe you have the answers. What did the boys Jess, Michael and Phillip think about this whole ordeal? Did it affect each one differently? What do they think of their father today? What did they think at the time? Was it ever determined if Michael was present during the murder? In general I would have liked to have known the boys' perspective. Was there discussion at the trial of the murder weapon? Has Bradly done himself in yet in prison

Rating: Summary: What a great book Review: This was the first book I read by Ann Rule, but as soon as I was done I went to the Library and took out two more. Alot of True crime stories go too much in to detail and the reader starts skipping though it or they lose the reader completly, But not Ann Rule. She makes you feel as though you know everyone in the book. It blows my mind that people are capable of such cruelty. This was such a sensless crime. She was telling everyone for so long that he was going to kill her. She even went as far as to tell people that he would use the children to lure her away to kill her. Although I felt terrible for Cheryl, I was a little angry with her for meeting him at the gas station by herself after she herself told everyone that she knew he was going to use the children to lure her away. I really feel bad for the children and I hope that they realize what a monster their dad is and how much their mother really loved them. I would love an update on what everyone is doing now. There was a TV move on this book, it was alright but the book (as usual) was much better
Rating: Summary: It's Not Her Best- It's Still Her! Review: To be sure, this is still an Ann Rule book and true fans like me will be satified, but just satisfied. The true crime tale is well -written and well- documented, with good Oregon background. The main fault of this book, in my opinion, is that there is so little suspence! We basically watch as spectators until the wheels of justice apprehend and prosecute "whodunit". On a more picky note, I believe Cheryl is not as compelling a victim as other female characters in other A.R. books. As always, don't dwell on those centerfold pictures. They may (or may not!) give things away too soon.
Rating: Summary: The Best of Ann Rule Review: Well written, well organized, well researched and the characters are well defined. This tragic story of a woman who is ridiculed, humiliated, abused, embarrased, etc. by her husband until he finally kills her. His 2nd wife doesn't believe he could be the snake he is until he turns into a snake with her. In reading this true account, I am thankful Dr. Gordon came into the picture when she did for the children. This is a worse case scenario when you allow the wrong people into your life. I was sad for Cheryl, Sarah, and the other women in Brad's life and sad for his children too. I'm glad that Brad was finally convicted and is living out the rest of his life at the OSP.
Rating: Summary: Unbelievably Well Written Review: What I like most about Ann Rule is her ability to mezmorize me from the first page. I have read several of her books but Dead By Sunset was ultimately my favorite thus far. One reader stated that this particular crime wasn't at all unusual and I have to agree. But Rule's captivating writing style and her investigative excellence captured me immediately. As soon as I finish one of her books, I need to get my hands on another. Ann Rule breaks out her characters so skillfully that you feel like you knew them personally. She gives you that edge to get inside the story and truly live it along side the victims.
