Summary: Could've been a must have...
Review: ***SPOILERS*** This book might be great if you haven't read the Chronicles or Legends trilogy and become attached to Dragonlance. My problem with DoSF is that the world of Krynn is completely butchered and old heroes we've come to love are killed off like rats. It seems to me that either the authors or TSR (I'm suspecting the latter) tried to kill off the series so the Fifth Age could replace it and make some money (and mind you, the Fifth Age trilogy is horrible). Despite all that, I'm still hopeful about the upcoming "War of Souls", especially now that TSR is out of the picture (yeah!).

Summary: Good Book
Review: "Dragons of Summer Flame is a good book. Written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, both wonderful authors, this book is sure to be a good bet for you avid readers. "Dragons of Summer Flame" is the story of how the new generation of heroes must save their world known as Krynn from the evil father god known as Chaos. The hero Palin, a white mage, get's help from many unlikely people including the Dark Knight, Steel Brightblade, the rambunkchous kender, Tasslehoff Burrfoot, and a mysterious girl whose name I cannot place at this moment. Together they alone will decide the fate of an entire world. All-in-all, this book is an exciting read and I would recommend it to anyone.

Summary: IT"S NOT SO BAD!!!
Review: I wasn't a huge fan of this book, but I have to write to clear up a misconception many people seem to have. Weis&Hickman did not "decide" to dramatically alter the world forever in a vindictive and spiteful effort to ruin it for everyone else. They don't OWN the rights to the Dragonlance saga, and they are NOT ALLOWED to make decisions like that! It was TSR's choice, for God's sake! If you have to blame someone, blame them! And anyway, I hear that Weis&Hickman are currently working on a new, veiled-in-secrecy Dragonlance trilogy. So calm down! As far as the book goes, It wasn't quite as great as I had hoped, but it wasn't bad, either. I got it the instant it came out and read it pretty much non-stop through Thanksgiving break, and I enjoyed it. A lot. It doesn't have quite the magic of their previous Dragonlance books, but it's still quite fine. The ending did depress me--and it didn't help that I finished it at around Midnight on the day before I had to return to school. Still, Dragonlance fans should read it. So there.

Summary: F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C ! ! !
Review: This book is very good ! It makes the bridge between the 4th age and the 5th.

It's a must !!! Buy this book and you won't regret it !

Summary: Do not read this book
Review: If you worshipped the Dragonlance Chronicles and Legends novels as I did then DO NOT READ THIS BOOK. My favorite series of all time was the Chronicles. This book ruined it. Heros and villians that the reader has come to know and love were killed off and horribly dishonored. Each character seems to meet an unbecoming fate. This book is the worst conclusion to a great series. Do yourself a favor and skip this book. Imagine your own ending to the compainions of Krynn. You will be much better off.

Summary: Read this.
Review: An excellent continuation of the Dragonlance saga. Weis and Hickman continually amaze me with their writing style and ability to manipulate the emotions of their readers. Complaints that this novel is nothing but the destruction of Krynn and the beloved heroes miss the point entirely. Summer Flame is no more or less tragic than the Chronicles, or the brothers' Legend series. (Think about it, we lose Flint and Sturm in the original series, and Raistlin's "death" in the Legends was absolutely devastating.) A novel needs to have a mixture of tragedy and comedy to make it successful, and Weis and Hickman achieve this balance in every series they pen. Ignore the bitterness of other, less favorable reviews (they apparently like to see their heroes live happily ever after, and don't like a little realistic fantasy.) Read this, and cry as well as laugh. My only complaint is that Usha turned out not to be Raistlin's daughter. I think she could have been the next major character if she had a little of Raistlin's personality in her.

Summary: Quite possibly the greatest DragonLance novel of all
Review: I will make this short for those of you who do not like reading long excerpts: an amazing and spectacular book from Weis and Hickman. I really enjoyed reading this book and was saddened in the end when "Uncle Tas" was squashed, so to speak.

Summary: Suprisingly a disappointment
Review: I was disappointed in the conclusion of this book. Many of the companions that we have come to know and love meet an unfitting fate. Heros are killed off uselessly and dishonored. I loved the trilogy. It is the best 3 books I have ever read but this one is very poorly written. It appears as if the authors were rushed to finish this book. I did not like the finale to the heros of Krynn.

Summary: It was a nice visit, but I miss the original companions
Review: While this book was very well written and a fun read, I cannot tell you how much I miss the original companions. I have kept every book about the Dragonlance Saga and every year or so I will pick it up and read them again. Margaret Wiess and Tracy Hickmann are a writing force to not be be reckoned with. I also have the Art of the Dragonlance book and everytime I see the picture of Sturm, lying on the castle wall after being slain by Kitiara, my throat catches. Their other series, The DeathGate Cycle, is another one of my favorites. I hope to see more dragon/magic fantacy novels from them in the future. In the back of my mind I always hoped they would make a Star Wars/Lord of the Rings movie series based on the books. Hmmm....who would play which characters?

Summary: The End of Krynn?
Review: Since Dragonlance Legends ended, and Weis and Hickman left for bigger and better things, there have been few Dragonlance books that were truly enthralling as Legends and Chronicles. A few of the anthologies had a couple of good stories.

In a couple of the short stories written by Weis and Hickman, we get introduced to some of the children the Heroes of the Lance.

Hooray for the return of Weis and Hickman! They use these children as the main characters of Dragons of Summer Flame. Fate has pulled these children together to fight against something greater than the heroes fought against. The heroes fought against the Takhisis, the Dark Queen. Their children fight against a threat that Takhisis, Paladine, and Gilean all fear.

Be prepared to say goodbye to old friends, hello to "friends" you thought long gone, and radical changes to the World of Krynn that will effect all the books that follow in the Dragonlance series.
