Review: This is my very favorite book of all time! I read this in fourth grade, and again last summer, and it never gets old! I am now in seventh grade an I have a book report due on it. This is one scool paper that I don't mind researching, typing, reading, or doing. I recommend this book to anyone of any age and any interest. A great book over all for everybody!!!!!!!!

Summary: a good book
Review: Harriet is a (sort of) honest girl who writes her private thoughts about everyone in her secret notebook. She doesn't have any problems until she loses the notebook and her classmates find it and read everything she wrote about them. I think that this is a good book, but some of the things that happen aren't very realistic.

Summary: My favorite childhood book
Review: My sixth grade teacher read this book to our class many years ago. You never saw so many disappointed faces as when she read the last page. We wanted it to go on and on.

Harriet is unlike most female characters in children's books: she's daring, adventurous, smart, and motivated. But she has her problems, too, and this book is superb is showing how she learns to overcome them and how this contributes to growing up.

It's lively, funny, and thought-provoking, and the author really understands what kids' lives are like, even if the NY city setting may be different from what many kids are used to.

Read it and enjoy!

Summary: This is a very interesting book!
Review: What I thought was most interesting was how descriptive the book was. When a character was introduced, the author gave a good description of that person, and that's what caught my eye the most in the book. It also illustrated how cruel it is to make fun of people and how hurtful it is to be on the receiving end of it. Plus it was a good size book and it gave just what you need to know. Other books seem to go on and on and on and on making them hard to follow. The reader can barely tell what the plot is because there are too many things going on. My favorite part was when Harriet was spying on her nanny by the lake. I liked the fact that Harriet thought of herself as a spy because that's something that I'd like to do, too. If I had written the book I might have had her using more gadgets than the author does. Harriet spends most of her time spying on people and writing in her journal. I would like to have seen more "James Bond" type of action and suspense. I really liked the book!

Summary: Why Did Everyone Love this So Much?
Review: Admit it, you didn't like this book. When I read this, I was the perfect age, loved to read, blah blah blah. I tried to like it, but it was really very UNrealistic. The world that children live in is nothing like this one. Just because something is unusual doesn't make it honest.
