Review: This was a tremendous pleasure to read. Sitting on the beaches on a well-needed vacation, I must have laughed out loud every couple of minutes. This book is written with superb sarcasm, precision and humor. A quick and memorable read.

Summary: Fast, funny, and hard to put down
Review: I enjoyed this book very much. It is a fairly long book, but it moves pretty fast: it can be hard to put down. The protagonist is somewhat flawed, which is a welcome change from the countless stories about unimpeachable hero types that are so often found in popular fiction. I laughed out loud several times: John Sutter is hilarious in print (I don't think anyone gets off that many zingers in real life.) I highly reccommend it, and, if you like this one, read Plum Island, too.

Review: This book was great. There was twists in the plots that Nelson Demille probably didn't seem coming if he read it after writing it. The characters were fantastic. I could just picture them since Demille described there characteristics so amazingly. Demille has written no book that has disappointed me but this one went above all. He wrote like they were a real married couple and this could happen to anyone it was fantastic. It was hilarious in a psycotic way. There was so much going on at the same time I was slightly confused but when you stop to think about it it all makes sense and everything falls into place perfectly. Eveyhing going on eventually lead up to the amazing grand finalle. I could not believe how everything fell together. You have to buy this book. When the mob king moves in next door you know something is going to be going on.

Review: A seering message to those of us in mid-life crisis, "The Gold Coast" does nothing to alleviate fears that values and morals do not do much to offset the cruel parodies of life. Protagonist John Sutter is a hilarious cynic, and someone who many of us will identify with. The description of the mafia is priceless, and the characterization of John's wife Susan superb. The statement on the condition of life is not encouraging, but the trip the reader takes in discovering that is one not to be missed. Wonderful book!!

Summary: One of the best reads of my life!
Review: A few years ago, a friend I was visiting sent me home with The Gold Coast. I read most of it on the plane and absolutely loved it. I have since read a few other DeMille's, however this one is my favorite. I loved the main character. One of my favorite lines is the one about martinis. I passed the paperback along to a friend and bought the hardcover to keep and plan to read it again. I don't know anyone who has not thoroughly enjoyed this book. Not always a fan of movies made from books, I think this could be a great one.

Review: The story maintains interest throughout and the characterizaations are excellent. Demille is able to make you feel the personalities, put their shoes on, live their lives, and take you away from your own daily routine. A very enjoyable book to read.
