Rating: Summary: The Get Better Book Review: Yeasterday the 28th of March I had a headach. My mom suggested we get a book on tape to keep me from thinking about my head. I quickly chose Half Magic over all the others. I am glad I did. This book tells of a magical day. Eager used so much logic also. Read this book and also learn about how to deal with magical reasons. -Maggie PS: My headach was gone by the end of the 3 1/2 hour long book.

Rating: Summary: It Is Certainly Worth It! Review: The first word I can say is: awesome. "Half" magic is very fun to read about, and with all of the mix-ups the children get because of how only half of their wish is granted make it even more funnier. I really recommend this book if you like books with magic and funny books, because Eager certainly did a good job combining those two in this book!
Rating: Summary: Old fashioned fun! Review: Edgar Eager's story features four siblings who find a "nickel" that turns out to be a magic talisman. This token grants wishes but only "halfway." This is a clever idea leads to a lot of humor and confusion as the children wish for things that only half come true. There are several mishaps with the coin, which takes them on a lot of interesting adventures. The illustrations in the book are cute and funny, and add to the old-fashioned feel. This book was first published in 1954 and has endured as a favorite because it's that good. The story has a feel that is very similar to E. Nesbit's books. Overall an excellent read!
Rating: Summary: It is so good Review: This book is so good. When I read it, I couldn't stop reading it. If you like fantasy and adventure you'll love this book.
Rating: Summary: A Great Book Review: Edward Eager's book Half Magic is clever, creative, funny, and wonderfully written. The interesting thing about his books are that they are all connected somehow. For example, the main characters in Knights Castle and The Time Garden, are the children of the characters in Half Magic and Magic by the Lake. I also found that Eager frequently mentions the work of E. Nesbit. This lead me to read one of her books. I discovered the books were very much alike. Eager must have liked her work so much he used elements from her books in his. If you read this book, read all the others by him. They are great books.
Rating: Summary: Glad I can read english, my pop got an english copy for me! Review: This particular book caught my attention when I spotted it on the shelves of a book store. I read the book in two nights. I enjoyed reading it the whole way through, and was quite disappointed when it ended. It's a tale of four English or American children who find a mysterious coin that grants half of each wish that they make. The children's pop passed away a few years before, and along the way they hook up their mother with a kind man. The children go on journies all over the world and other places. I reccomend this book for children ages 5-13 who like magic, adventure, and fantasy. ...
Rating: Summary: Half MAgic Review: Four children find a strange coin. It's not just any coin, it's magic! If they make a wish, half of it get's granted. For instance, if they wish they were in Tampa, Florida they may end up in St. Petersburg Florida, or only travel halfway to florida. They may wish things like "I wish we could go back in time twice as far as medevil times. I reccomend this book for people who LOVE magic like me.
Rating: Summary: A memorable magic series Review: When I was younger, I read all of Edward Eager's books at least three or four times. Anyone who likes magic adventures will enjoy putting themselves in the stories. The kids are real and individual. The problems that crop up from using magic make sense and don't seem forced. Most important, these books have a great sense of humor. This is the first book in the series.
Rating: Summary: Twice as Good as Your Average Book! Review: Jane, Mark, Katherine and Martha (and their widowed mother) all have their lives turned topsy-turvy when Jane finds a magic talisman that resembles an ordinary nickel. How else but magic could four inquisitive children travel across time, joust with Sir Lancelot, have a tête-à-tête with Merlin, be captured by a Bedouin, become half-invisible, meet a talking cat AND find a new father, all in one week? The characterizations in this book make it one of my favorites by Mr. Eager. I am always impressed by Mr. Eager's ability to infuse cultural references into his stories and have them build up instead of take away from the plot. (One particularly nice touch was the mention of the star Barbara LaMarr in the movie the children go to see. This lets the reader place the time of the story, 1920s, by making the statement that "movies were silent then.") I highly recommend this book.
