Summary: One of the best medical thrillers I have read!
Review: Is there a video tape or movie derived from this book? If so, what is the name?

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: John Rubenstein does an adequate job. Not bad, but not great
Review: John Rubenstein doesn't really capture the heart of the story in his voice, but he makes up for it in portaying the suspense scene well, so that you can feel what it looks like in your mind. There were no sound effects or music through the whole thing (except for the noises of doctors hustling and bustling at the beginning of the tape), and I was disappointed with that; but this book on tape was altogether a good one. I look forward to reading more Robin Cook books (I don't want to listen to one again!).

Summary: The ending screwed up the whole book
Review: Most of the book is compelling but the ending or even the whole plot is too simple.

Summary: A simply great book......!
Review: My first robin cook and i havent looked back from then on. Its been a long time since i read 'Harmful Intent' but i still remember it being a great read for a non-medicine background reader. The reason i still read 'robin cook' books is proof enough that i like him. He has a knack of blending suspense into situations which one may think as, well, day to day proceedings in hospitals etc. He is a great writer and this book is just another of his masterpieces.

Summary: A good story with a terrible ending.
Review: Robin Cook knows how to write and he really makes you care about the characters in his stories. Knowing that Robin Cook is a medical doctor, I was fully prepared for a uniquely medical drama. I was pleasantly surprised that the story mixed in much more than that. However, "Harmful Intent" had an ending that leaves you wondering if Mr. Cook didn't run out of time and ideas as he approached the conclusion of the story. The plausability is maintained throughout the story until this point. It was what I would call an "eye-roller" after reading the epilogue

Summary: This is about a doctor accused of malpractice.
Review: The novel Harmful Intent by Robin Cook takes place in Brooklyn, New York in 1989. It is about a doctor accused of malpractice, who becomes a fugitive of the law, while trying to solve a medical conspriracy that has lead several doctors to suicide.

The main character, Jeffery Rhodes, is an anesthesiologist, who was leading a normal life, except his impending divorce, until one of his patients died and he was charged with murder of the second degree.

With cops looking for him, along with a bounty hunter, he must quickly uncover the truth before he is thrown in jail.

Throughout the novel Rhodes learns pieces of the mystery, which only add to more confusion. When he discovers that a toxin might be involved, he must discover who is committing the acts and the motive.

Jeffery takes jobs at several hospitals doing housekeeping, as he planned to go through documents of employees, with the aid of his former colleague's wife, Kelly. He finds names of people who have worked at hospitals where events similar to that which happened to Rhode's, lead doctors to suicide. The only problem is finding out which name belongs to the killer.

He believes that one person on the list must be the person committing the crimes. With his wife encouraging divorce, and him dodging bullets and attempting to flee the country, Rhodes realizes the only way to win is to find who ever is behind this and prove, somehow, that he is not involved, but no matter where he goes people are after him, trying to bring him in to the police.

In one scene, Rhodes goes to the suspect's apartment to search for evidence leading to his innocence. Unaware that the owner is on his way up, he must run out on the fire escape and jump from beuilding to building, trying to loose him. With no proof at all he decides to blackmail the man with pictures he had retrieved from his bedroom. Little does he know, the man has a different plan up his sleeve.

This novel shows how you should never give up in what you believe in. No matter if everyone is against you, you should continue to fight until you prove your innocence.

Summary: Don't read if you're scheduled for surgery soon!
Review: The plot is straightforward and the reader is made privy to the criminal mind/methods of the perpetrator fairly early on, so readers who want to play Sherlock Holmes might not find this story very statisfying. The reader is given ample clues to see what's going on if care is given to detail.

I found it a bit unbelievable that the innocent doctor doesn't recognize many of the same clues himself. For a highly educated man he seems a bit on the "slow" side and seems more than a little careless, but maybe that can be chalked up to the incredible stress he is under while trying to save himself.

The compelling element to the book is the horrifying realization that this could be a real-life story--the unthinkable is not impossible and not even that difficult. Unnerving, to say the least!

Summary: Everything you want in a thriller
Review: This book was great! It has everything you could want in a medical thriller. Technology, murder, love, and much more. The begining of this book grabs you with a situation that will touch your heart. You cant help but to shead a tear. Many people will relate to the situation that Jeffrey is in. Loosing everything you have worked for and loved in your life. The ending will make you happy you finished the book.

Summary: You need a shot?
Review: This is the first RC's book that the MDs aren't guilty of medicine malpractice , albeit the book has too many coincidences is a great story if you aren't pregnant, if such is your case don't read it until you have your baby.
As always with these kind of books you'll be afraid to go to any MD or hospital because you will see the dark side of medicine's practice, but you will be hooked to the book all the time. I don't know if its possible to poise a vial as is written in the book but that will make you check and recheck the medicine vials always.
