Rating: Summary: Really learned a lot here Review: One of the things I learned was about personal commitment to one's self. By regards of others I may not have a huge amount of weight to lose but I've benn procrstinating about it and worried that this will become a lifestyle choice. Sure I look fine now but I'm still pretty young and this has to be a lifelong commitment. I got moving with Oprah and Bob in the 90's and did a massive turnaround but then I got into the work swing and got complacent, not to mention being so close to Delmonicos! I love food, to eat it and to cook it but the simple mathematics is that I have to exercise more calories than I consume. Simple as that. And something really BIG, you're suppose to feel slightly hungry. I think thats a great point, most peopel believe you're suppose to constantly be full.
Rating: Summary: Excellent!! It's all about habits Review: The key to permanent weight loss is lifestyle change and that is exactly what this book is all about. Walk 20 min a day, take the stairs instead of the elevator, jump rope when you walk. Diets alone won't do it...you have to make it a habit to MOVE. You should also check out anthoer great book I just read called "The Power of Positive Habits"...excellent!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent fitness Book. Review: This book closely matches with my personal philosophy of making incremental changes in my life that I can live with. The book breaks the steps to improving your physical health into four phases. You can then pick and choose the best steps that will work for you in each phase. This would be the perfect book if it had a little more material on improving your eating habits as well.
Rating: Summary: I would highly recommend this book Review: This book is easy to read and cuts right to the chase. It doesn't make things unnecessarily complicated like so many other diet books. He gives specific advice, and just as important, he explains why following his advice is crucial. For instance, he advises not eating after eight O'clock, but just as important, he explains why it is important to skip that late night snack. He suggests aerobic exercises, but just as important, he explains why aerobic excercising vs other forms of exercising is so important. He covers how your matabolism is shaped and how it can be manipulated. This is a no nonsense, no hype type book.
Rating: Summary: Comprehensive approach to lifestyle change! Review: This book is truly excellent. Of course we know if we are overweight that eating right and exercising regularly is the cure to our problem. However, few books address the "why?" behind the problem, the underlying mechanisms of WHY we overeat, WHY we are lazy, WHY we make excuses for ourselves. He starts off by saying "this is not a diet book", which is great because the pressure is instantly reduced. The book addresses your mental state of being, your life goals, stress, and emotional overeating, really forcing you to look inside of yourself. From there, he gradually builds in aerobic exercise, and not until the end are you even considerig food choices. You do not worry about being on a "diet", which is very relieving. You're very unlikely to fail at this program, you can only feel better about yourself! Try it, it literally does change your life!
Rating: Summary: Great, Simple Advice with Powerful Results!!!! Review: This is a fantastic example of a book written for use. USE THIS BOOK - it's a tool that you USE to improve how you feel about your body and how your body feels to you. This style of writing is like that found in the parenting book "The Child Whisperer" by Matt Pasquinilli. Both books are practical and utilitarian. They are the best kind of books - user friendly, user inviting, user success stories!!! I read for entertainment, but I also read for the type of knowledge I need to move forward in life. Get this book!!!! Get "The Child Whisperer" too - it is great advice for parents, and great advice even if you don't have kids.
Rating: Summary: Great holistic advice Review: This is a wonderful book about making the changes necessary to lose weight healthfully. Now if only I could follow Mr. Greene's advice!

Rating: Summary: Balanced and complete, very usable Review: This is in fact a applicable book and does service the reader well. I was impressed with the simple psychology of mental hungar, I'm one of those people that has to eat something when I watch a favorite program thinking this completes my enjoyment of the time in question. Now I have from this book found enjoyment on being focused in on the things I want to enjoy without the compliment of over eating. The physical routine of the book is fine and works. The book reads very well and was edited for the reader to better interpret Bob's solutions. Books like this don't make it to number one generally, unless there is a health crisis, or the book is good, it is excellent and will get you with the program even if your not to motivated, it will motivate you. I am pleased I bought this one. Amazon recommends we recommend other good books from the rules guidelines, I strongly recommend reading a book that really puts the motivation accross especially for America in this time of crisis, SB 1 or God By Karl Mark Maddox
Rating: Summary: Genius Review: Wonderful! This book and a book called Dreams: Gateway to the True Self are magnificant! Look for both on Amazon.com.
