Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Real life synicism; great read
Review: I read about 20 books a month and this still remains among my favorite books. I loves the many twists and turns and the relatively unexpected ending. Much much better than it sounds; outstanding look at human condition. Unhesingly recommend read by anyone.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A Very Good Debut Novel!
Review: In Hostile Witness, William Lashner's debut legal thriller, the author rises to the top of writers in this genre. In Victor Carl, he has create a very believable, very real and very flawed hero. What makes this book worth reading is Lashner's strength in character development. Further, the plot is also very clever and interesting --although, for me, it is stretched out somewaht longer than I felt it needed to be. At times, I found myself skimming through sections about the 'characters' in order to get back to the 'heart of the story'. As a result, unlike most reviewers who gave this book a five star rating, I'd rate it worthy of four stars -- a very good, but not outstanding rating. I think if this book was 100 or so pages less, I would have enjoyed it a lot more and probably rated it five stars. Despite this criticism, Hostile Witness is a worthwhile read. I'm looking forward to reading Lashner's other books featuring Victor Carl (Veritas, Fatal Flaw and Past Due).

Summary: A marvelous read!
Review: Interesting characters. Intricate plot. Fine prose. The protagnoist is human with flaws (not the typical Grisham hero) and suffers appropriately at the end - and an unexpected ending. Only fault: the writing is a little convoluted (not as bad as Robert Ludlum). I am eager to read his next novel.

Summary: What a great read "Hostile Witness" is
Review: Lashner is another author you have to add to your list. He has great courtroom scenes, and great storyline. He writes in ways that you feel you are right there in the room. Put Lashner with Grisham, DeMille and Patterson.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great author
Review: Lashner is the newest addition to my Must Read Authors List. All three of his books are good, Hostile Witness is probably the best of the three. Several times throughout the book different characters have to tell their story, and each time it's even more incredible than the last. This book is a thriller/mystery but it's also something more, I don't really know what it is, maybe it's just plain good writing.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Better than recent John Grisham Novels!
Review: Ok, so I liked it. I won't give away the plot but this one is a page burner and I got sick of Murder Mystries awhile ago. I will definitely be looking for other books by Mr. Lashner.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent read
Review: One of the best thrillers/law books I've read in a long time. You wont be disappointed!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A pleasant surprise of a book ...
Review: that is my first reading of author, William Lashner, but certainly won't be my last. I am going out this very day to pick up Veritas & Fatal Flaw and if they are anywhere near the caliber of this first book, Lashner will have a definite spot on my list of "favorites" in this genre. Highly readable, and enjoyable with just enough plot twists & suspense to keep you reading well into the night. I found it to be first-rate; better than the most recent Grisham & Turow. Give Lashner a try - I don't think you will be disappointed!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This book is excellent! You don't want to put it down.
Review: The characters in this book are very interesting. You will love Morris, a Jewish investigator. If you can get hook on phonics, you will definitely get hook on this book. Quite by accident I have located another book titled "Veritas" that follows this book to a tee!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Absolutely compelling!
Review: The quirky characters and different levels of the story made me want to keep reading. I look forward to reading more by Lashner. Hopefully we'll see everybody in Hostile Witness again. A definite 5 star recommendation.
