Summary: Was a dissapointment, not MHC's best
Review: I've read about 10 Mary Higgins Clarks books and many people said this one was great. It was not. The story jumped around and got confusing and the end was a total disappointment. It was like she couldn't think of an ending, although she dropped lots of hints what it would be, but you just didn't believe she would do it. Don't give up on her, just don't bother reading this one.

Summary: A great book for everyone
Review: This book was one of the best I have ever read. I thought it was pretty boring at first but I kept reading. When you get to the end you will be amazed. I couldn't believe who the killer was and what he planned to do with his friend and her daughter. I didn't even know who Mary was until I was introduced to her. Ive read atleast 3 of her books in the past 3 months and they keep getting better. Mary is just the best.

Summary: Gripping, a great thriller!
Review: I recently read this, and I could not put it down! It was extremely gripping and very exciting. As a resident the area of Bergen County where the book takes place, it was also a lot of fun to read about my home. It's kind of exciting to think that people in California are reading about your area!

The plot centers around Kerry McGrath, whose daughter, Robin, must go to plastic surgeon Charles Smith after a car accident. This leads to Kerry's reopening of a ten-year-old murder case. Her investigation is helped by a man named Geoff Dorso, the lawyer of the convicted in that case. It's a truly thrilling read.

With elements of suspense, romance and humor, this book is perfect for any fan of mysteries! Or just any Bergen County resident. :0)

Summary: Lukewarm
Review: Well, rats . . . this book had so much potential. The idea was great and there were good characters: an old murder that resulted in an innocent man being put in jail, a freaky plastic surgeon "re-creating" women's faces to look just like the daughter he had been grieving over, an aspiring politician facing consequences of a renewed investigation and of course, there's an assortment of slimy criminals and all kinds of secrets that unfold throughout. The middle of the book is about where it's at it's best, but it just seemed sloppy and rushed at times, especially the ending. If you're looking for a fast-paced whodonnit and a quick read, you'll probably do fine with this. If you would like a little more depth and suspense, though, Mary Higgins Clark's "Moonlight Becomes You" is great or as another reviewer suggested, pick up any classic by Agatha Christie.

Summary: Great thriller.
Review: I love this book. It is my favorite book by Mary Higgins Clark, and I've read most of her books. To quote what I said to a friend after reading this book, "It scared the pants off me." A really great book. Very impressive!

Summary: Deadly Political Intrigue
Review: When her daughter Robin suffers facial injuries in a car accident , assistant prosecutor Kerry McGrath goes to the office of plastic surgeon Charles Smith. When Kerry sees a beautiful woman leaving Dr. Smith's office, she can't help feeling that she's seen the woman before. On the next visit to Dr. Smith, when Kerry sees yet another woman who looks strikingly similar to the first, she suddenly realizes why the face seems so familiar: it's the face of Suzanne Reardon, Dr. Smith's daughter, killed over ten years ago in the highly publicized Sweetheart Murder Case. Suzanne's husband, Skip, was convicted of the killing largely on the basis of Smith's testimony but has continued to proclaim his innocence.

Kerry's boss, Frank Green, made his reputation by successfully prosecuting the Reardon case. Now Green is preparing to run for governor, and Kerry herself is about to be nominated for a judgeship thanks to the recommendation of long-time state senator Jonathan Hoover, Kerry's friend and mentor. Hoover warns Kerry that looking into the Reardon case now could be a political embarrassment for all of them.

And then there's Bob Kinellen, Kerry's ex-husband, who's defending mobster Jimmy Weeks at his trial for tax evasion. Weeks was rumored to be having an affair with Suzanne Reardon around the time she was killed. When Kerry begins receiving threats of harm to Robin, she knows somebody has a good reason to keep her from resurrecting the Sweetheart Murder Case.

Another fantastic book from Mary Higgins Clark! Extremely suspenseful and satisfying!

Summary: my last by this author
Review: I loved the first couple of novels by Higgins Clark, but her style has grown stale and shallow. I found myself laughing out loud in disbelief with this one. The characters are sketchy and cardboard. The dialogue is so mundane and artificial I found myself wondering why she bothered with it. Clark's strengths are in her plot lines and her pacing. But with boring dialogue and shallow characterization, I just don't find myself caring about the characters by the end of the story. This will be the last one I bother reading.
