Rating: Summary: Has Krentz lost her zing? Review: In this lukewarm feel-good return to Eclipse Bay, I felt that this story lacked the usual rhythm and spice that has been Krentz' hallmark. We come into this story mid-argument and yet, instead of tantalizing the reader, one is left feeling out of the loop, so to speak. The main heroine is never even described! What color are her eyes? hair? height? It took me three chapters to realize that the author was not going to give any description! I was left continually puzzling over this deliberate oversight and was unable to engage my imagination fully while reading Krentz' tale. The hero is complex, the heroine simple. Without giving the ending away, the scene where love is revealed is done with about as much passion as a business merger. A love story doesn't need complex hurdles, but if the formula story calls for stalkers, family feuds, sexual fantasies - then I would like to see the moment of discovery between the love interests be much more satisfying. Krentz seems to be unsure which voice she wants to use - romance writer or fiction author writing about the eccentric inhabitants of a small Oregon town. She didn't mesh them well in this story and I was left wishing that I had bought a different book.
Rating: Summary: Suffering from a little touch of "Sequel-itis"? Review: In this sequel to the delightful "Eclipse Bay" we meet the feudin' Hartes and Madisons once again. This time, Lillian Harte falls victim to the charms of Gabe Madison and love and mayhem ensue. Unfortunately, this book doesn't hold up as well against the original, in my opinion. The sparkle and wit that permeated the first book is not as prevalent (maybe I just missed Winston the dog) and because much of the Harte/Madison conflict had been resolved by Rafe and Hannah in "Eclipse Bay", the feud as a plot device was lacking! However, these comments are not meant to dissuade any potential readers - Jayne Ann Krentz is truly a master of her genre and you won't find a better lighthearted romance around than one with her name on it!! I would urge, however, that you start with "Eclipse Bay" just to keep the characters in chronological order and then, after reading "Dawn", wait, as I am, for the next book about Nick and Octavia Brightwell!

Rating: Summary: A wonderful contemporary romance Review: Lillian Harte and Gabe Madison first met at the wedding of their siblings in Eclipse Bay, Oregon. Sometime afterward in Portland, Gabe asks Lillian to find him a wife through her successful computer dating service. After five failures at getting her client interested with decent dates, Lillian decides to return Gabe his money. She plans to shut down her thriving firm to commit to her passion, painting.Gabe continues to pester Lillian even after she leaves Portland to return home to Eclipse Bay. As Lillian and Gabe become better acquainted they fall in love, but both question whether a responsible Harte who breaks that family mold and an irresponsible Madison who breaks that family mold can forge a relationship in spite of the success of their siblings? DAWN IN ECLIPSE BAY, the sequel to the wonderful contemporary romance ECLIPSE BAY, retains the warmth and freshness of the previous tale. The story line is fun as the citizens of Eclipse Bay watch another Madison-Harte couple fall in love. The lead characters are dynamic while the supporting cast rounds out a story line that proves Ms. Krentz remains one of the best genre authors of romance. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: Artist wants to fire her client, but he has designs. Review: Lillian Harte has heads shaking when she announces that she is closing her successful matchmaking service to pursue her dream of becoming an artist. Dealing with Gabe Madison is another story. Lillian insists that Gabe is looking for a robot, not a flesh and blood woman. After five failed dates, she's tagged him the proverbial client from hell. When she attempts to fire Gabe as a client, he insists they have a contract that she is one date shy of fulfilling. All Lillian wants is to close her business and move back to Eclipse Bay and paint. All Gabe wants is Lillian. Dawn in Eclipse Bay, the second book in the "Eclipse Bay" trilogy, is filled with all the story magic readers have come to expect from a Krentz novel. Wacky, lovable characters, fast moving scenes, a touch of mystery and plenty of romance.
Rating: Summary: Another winner! Review: Loved Eclipse Bay and this is a terrific continuation. Cannot wait for the finale. Keep up the great work, Ms. Krentz.

Rating: Summary: Dawn in Eclipse Bay Review: Much weaker compared to her first book in this trilogy. For Gabe to leave his company and take off to Eclipse Bay to chase after a woman is a bit out of this world. And Lilian, who admitted that she's a little flaky, is a real flake. The line about Gabe being 'a different type of Madison' was used so many times, it got old quickly. In her first book, one can really feel the sparks between the lead characters. Unfortunately in this one, the chemistry is pretty lame. I've read all of her books and know that Krentz can do better than this.
Rating: Summary: Good Story, Nice Little Plot Review: Overall this is a pretty good story. The romance between Gabe and Lillian was neat, although very predictable. Bringing in the Hartes and Madisons together again was a neat plot; however, the continous repetition about Hartes' being what they are and "What did you expect, he's a Madison", got really, really tiresome. A few times fine but constant repetition was annoying. Jayne Ann Krentz has done so much better in the past.
Rating: Summary: not exactly up to eclipse bay standard Review: somehow i did not find the essence that lies in ECLIPSE BAY. EB was my first from Jayne Ann Krentz, and i was completely impressed. i read DAWN IN ECLIPSE BAY in due time but it lacked a little something-something. i dunno. i know i won't give up on jayne, but i hope the last ECLIPSE BAY book live up to the first.
