Rating: Summary: no surprises Review: starts out somewhat intriguing and then gets boggled down by the family history - whatever that was. skip it
Rating: Summary: Pass this one by Review: The best I can say for the 2nd in the Eclipse Bay series is "disappointing". I've been a fan for many, many years. This book is not at all entertaining. It is dry, boring, unexciting, unfunny, & unappealing. The story line (what there was of it) was unimaginative and the characters were one dimensional and totally without personality. As far as I can see, this book defines the "burnout characteristic" Ms Krentz was attempting to attribute to Gabe!!!!The first book in the series was enjoyable, this one was not. I hope the 3rd will be better, much, much better.
Rating: Summary: Not up to Eclipse Bay standards, but entertaining enough. Review: The grandchildren of the Harte-Madison feud are at it again. Lillian and Gabe met at the wedding between his brother and her sister. Both are the oddballs of the Harts and Madisons. He is the Madison that is a superpower in business when all other Madisons seem doomed to fail, and she is the 'failure' of the Hartes when all other Harte are groomed for success. She is the the successful matchmaker, but wants to close the business and become a full time artist to the shock of family. The problem: Gabe. After the wedding, where sparks arched between them, she was not surprised to find him on her door step. Only she was disappointed the find he wanted her services to find him a wife. After five disastrous dates arranged, she just wants to end the contract, but he won't. Gabe is determined to hold her to it - personally. And he follows her back to Eclipse Bay to prove it!!! You will meet all the noisy characters of EB, including Arizona and her conspiracy theory about the institute on the hill. This time she is convinced they are sneaking in the bodies of the aliens from area 51! JAK gives you guaranteed great read!!

Rating: Summary: Gotta love a good family feud! Review: The Hartes and the Madisons are at it again - this time, it's Lillian Harte and Gabe Madison who become swept into each other's passion. Thankfully, Ms. Krentz understands her readers well enough to directly continue on from "Eclipse Bay" - it is enormously satisfying to have such continuity between the stories. These families have a zest for life and a strength of will and commitment that leaps off the page, although I must confess that I found the romance between Hannah and Rafe a little more vibrant. However, this was a fun read and Jayne Ann Krentz knows how to weave a wonderful tale. Bring on volume 3 - I can't wait to find out about Nick and Octavia!
Rating: Summary: Is JAK Back? Review: The review said, "JAK is Back!" I was really happy to hear that Jayne Ann Krentz had gotten through her dry spell and was back on track with her own style of zany, energetic, and humorous heroines and her strong, dark, complicated heroes. Formulaic? Certainly. Predictable? Perhaps. But that doesn't mean that I don't enjoy the twists and turns of the early JAK novels. I have several on my keeper shelves that I read when I need relaxation and a laugh. It's the written equivalent of a good cup of tea and butter cookies on a rainy day. I longed for a fresh addition to the stack. So I started "Dawn...." with great hopes. They were not fulfilled. This is not even warmed over JAK but more like a good bread dough without the yeast. It just couldn't rise! The formula was there but the energy and pace were not. About a third of the way through, I realized I really didn't care too much about the characters and whether they resolved their problems or not. I read it all the way through waiting for the a glimmer of spice and vitality but alas there was none. One or two clever twists here and there and a cute aside about frozen aliens lightened the story but could not save it. There is to be a third book set in Eclipse Bay; we can but hope.
Rating: Summary: A fun read -BUT pushed too hard at milking the same story Review: The storyline of Lillian Harte, the flaky one in the Harte family, and Gabe Madison, a successful one among the Madison losers falling for each other has a lot of appeal and makes for a fun read. It comes complete with a scary stalker, breakins, people ending up in hospital as the answers to a new mystery unfold. Unfortunately Krentz, over and over again tries to capitalize on the old Harte-Madison feud which was all patched up in the first story of Hannah and Rafe as well as the "successful" Harte vs the "screw-up" Madison, becomes tiresome. The scenes of a "coverup at the Institute" aren't much different from what we read in the first book. I think they were just rewritten with the new characters. A few mentions of Rafe and Hannah completing their Inn is suppose to make you think the story continues, but they really only appear in one scene when Gabe and Lillian first arrive in Eclipse Bay. The story ends with the two grandfathers patched up once again even though they were never split after the first book, and an introduction of the brother Nick Harte and Octavia Brightwell appearing to send out "body language" signals to the rest of the gathering of a romance to be "coming soon".
Rating: Summary: The First was Better Review: This book was good, but their were some major disapointments. I was hoping that the Eclipse Bay series would rekindle my interest in Jayne Ann Krentz. The first one did. This one was so so. I loved Gabe, but never felt that Lil was his passion, I felt that the business was. Absolutely no sensuality or sexual tension between these two. Don't know what is goint on there, but it just did not work. Overrall I would read this book, but thank goodness it was in paperback! I would not pay full price for this book. It just did not work for me, and I am not really anticipating the 3rd now.
Rating: Summary: Where is the 0 star rating when you need it..... Review: This is to anyone who has read this author before and has enjoyed her style of writing. You will probably enjoy this one as well. I however, have decided never to read anything she writes again. The author's style of writing is too juvenile for my taste. You can read the Editorial Reviews for the book description. The main character Lillian has a knack for jumping to the wrong conclusion and her lack of common sense was laughable. Another character by the name of Arizona Snow was obsessed with frozen aliens, which was both pointless and too stupid for any real humor. Towards the end of the book when common sense finally catches up with Lillian {after a long and exhausting chase throughout the book} and she realizes who the person is that's behind the break-in and vandalism of her beachfront home. She goes in search of the proof she needs and to confront the person. This was not a confrontation at all; it was more like a very civil disagreement between two really good friends. A small spat if you will. The ending was very disappointing and it was a real effort on my part to finish the book. For those that haven't read anything by Jayne Ann Krentz and you come across this review before you have a chance to read one of her books... TRUST ME AND SKIP THIS AUTHOR. Try Karen Robards, Judith NcNaught, Linda Howard and or Nora Roberts. You will not be disappointed in either of these authors I promise.
