Rating: Summary: This book was pure crap! Review: The publisher didn't have much sense since he published this crap! I can't believe this was a bestseller. Please don't read this book, you'll go into a deep depression, that is if you're awake enough to read it!!! :(
Rating: Summary: Love found, love lost, two lives in ruins Review: "The Bridges of Madison County" was not only about the love two mature adults can unexpectedly find for one another but that fear and the need for security can stop people from taking positive steps to improve their lives. Robert Kincaid finally finds Francesca Johnson, his soul mate and equal, after years of drifting through life. He loves her passionately and wants her to start a new life with him. Francesca reciprocates but is unwilling to leave her unfulfilling marriage and start anew. Robert is willing to do anything short of destroying Francesca to preserve what they have together. Francesca decides to stay even though her life is stifling. After she is widowed she tentatively seeks out Robert and when she encounters obstacles gives up. At the end of the book both lovers have died - Robert of loneliness and ,I suspect, Francesca of boredom. I enjoyed the book because it was a bittersweet reminder that "playing it safe" often leaves you only living part of a life with many regrets for what might have been. Most women in forty or older can relate to this sad reality.
Rating: Summary: Unbelievably romantic Review: A must read for all those who believe in true love. Reading this book makes you hope fervently that there's a Francesca or a Robert somewhere out there for you.It reaffirms your belief in love.Never read anything like it before.
Rating: Summary: TOUCHING FOR THE HOPELESSLY ROMANTIC Review: AFTER REVIEWING THE PREVIOUS COMMENTS ON THIS BOOK, I AM STUNNED WITH HOW RIDICULOUS PEOPLE ARE ABOUT A WORK OF FICTION. COME ON PEOPLE, THIS IS NOT A BOTCHED ATTEMPT TO PORTRAY THE HOLOCAUST. THIS IS SIMPLY A BEAUTIFUL STORY, WRITTEN WITH THE INTENT OF AMUSEMENT. PERHAPS I FOUND IT MOVING BECAUSE I CLOSELY IDENTIFIED WITH SOME OF THE FEELINGS THE TWO SHARED. I'M NOT SURE ABOUT THAT, BUT THAT COULD EXPLAIN MY PASSION FOR THIS BOOK. I'VE READ MANY WORKS OF LITERATURE, AND WHILE I AGREE THIS BOOK CAN'T EVEN COME CLOSE TO THE LIKES OF HEMINGWAY AND KEROUAC, IT IS AN ENJOYABLE READ FOR THOSE WHO JUST WANT TO SIT BACK AND ENJOY A GOOD STORY ABOUT LOVE FOUND AND LOST. AND MAYBE IT'S FUN FOR SOME OF US TO HOLD ON TO THE IDEA THAT TRUE LOVE IS OUT THERE, NO MATTER HOW BLEAK THINGS MAY SEEM. PERHAPS MR. WALLER ISN'T THE BEST WRITER OF THE CENTURY, BUT HIS BOOKS HAVE A WAY OF HITTING HOME, THANKS TO THE OPEN WAY HE DISCUSSES EMOTIONS AND INTERACTIONS BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE. TO NEVER HAVE BEEN IN LOVE OR TO HAVE A HEART OF STONE IS TO DESPISE THIS BOOK. OTHERWISE, YOU WILL IDENTIFY WITH IT AND LOVE IT.
Rating: Summary: In the eye of the beholder Review: This is a work of art, so it is as beautifull / boring / uglyas the heart of a reader.

Rating: Summary: Steve Riden of BC Law sez two thumbs way up Review: One of my favorite books--maybe Tom Clancie and Michael Kryton come close. I know of no other book, though, that expresses my feelings more fully. Nay sayers who dislike Bridges are just not with it. At Junior College we studied Faulkner and heard how he was so great, but RJW seems a much, much, much better writer.
Rating: Summary: Compare and contrast the two books. Review: The Fridges of Madison County was laughably simple. This book is simply laughable.
Rating: Summary: I've Just Got to Get This Out of My System... Review: The is the pitiful story of a self absorbed, anti-social National Geographic photographer and his fling with a rural-living Italian woman who apparently doesn't get out much. Yuck! What garbage. The photographer is obviously Waller's "fantasy self." All I kept thinking when I read about his incredible prowess was, "You wish, Buddy." The good news is, this means that just about anybody can get published!!!
