Rating: Summary: Live Long, and Prosper Review: Completely entertaining. As a moderate Star Trek fan, I've found Leonard's own account of his life and career an accomplishment as no doubt he does as well. I especially found the story about the woman breaking into his hotel to wear his clothes most amusing. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: GREAT PERSONAL NARRATIVE ! Review: Even not being a "trekker", I bought this book, because everybody knows how Nimoy is an intelligent fellow. Written with the intention of putting down some bad feelings left behind from his previous book (1975) "I AM NOT SPOCK", and without the help of a ghost-writer, Nimoy writes in a particular style I'd call "Friendship style", clearly respecting his fans and tryin to give a general picture of what really was (is) his life, not even in one moment showing indulgence or arrogance. Explendid auto-biographical job.
Rating: Summary: I would recommend it to others. Review: For those who have read his book,'I AM NOT SPOCK', would do well to read this book, for in it Mr. Nimoy has explained why he said that and went into great detail why he was apologetic to those who were offended by that first book. Mr. Nimoy writes very understandably and it did not take me very long to read it. Joanne Kelsey
Rating: Summary: This book was fascinating; a gem for his fans! Review: I am not big on biographies, but as soon as I began reading this book I could not put it down! He explains so much about his character, Spock, and the ordeals he went through after portraying him. He makes humorous comments about how people mix up his name and how he himself spoke like Spock at times. I love this book and I would read it again and again! Leonard Nimoy is a very talented man, and quite funny. Like he and Spock say, this book will live long and prosper!
Rating: Summary: It was funny, it was heartwarming Review: I AM NOT SPOCK was one of the hardest books for me to find. But it was worth the wait. I realy liked the dialogue between Leonard and Spock, and how Spock kept stealing the pens from the producion company and Leonard was asked about.
How Leonard was lost at first without Spock, but, Spock was never really gone. Mr Nimoy also talked about how Spock almost took over his entire life while filming Star Trek.
Over all, its a great book. I read it several times.
Rating: Summary: Worth the read Review: I AM SPOCK is an interesting book. Some of the content is similar to (if not identical to) Nimoy's earlier book, I AM NOT SPOCK. I AM SPOCK in general picks up where the earlier book left off in the mid-1970's, telling the story of the Star Trek movies and Nimoy's directing career. It is very entertaining and provides some interesting insights into big-movie Hollywood. One gets the feeling sometimes that a lot of the encounters and dialogue have been sugar-coated a bit, but the facts presented are worth the read alone. Now, if they only included a promotional set of Spock ears with the book!
Rating: Summary: Well worth reading Review: I don't have the time to read for pleasure often, but I could not put this book down. Nimoy is wise, touching and funny. I am now searching for his other books so I can read them, too. Even if you don't care for Star Trek, this is an entertaining, uplifting read by a talented, humble man.
Rating: Summary: A real page turner Review: I found Mr. Nimoy's latest autobiography to be a fun-filled traipse through the life of this wonderfully talented man. Several times I had to place the book down to finish laughing. I was also moved by the serious and touching facts he included about his life. On account of his delightful writing technique, I often felt as though I were there alongside him experiencing the moment. I am convinced that he is an intelligent gentleman. 'I Am Spock' was truly fascinating.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable, Funny, Touching, Lasting Star Trek Legacy Review: I have been a "trekkie" for years but then, I don't have the privilege of attending a Star Trek Convention as there's none of such a thing in New Zealand. The only way that I'm able to know more about the character Spock and the person behind the mask, Leonard Nimoy is through reading a book. It's even better when the book is written by Leonard himself. Obviously, as Leonard penned this book this time around, he has made peace with Spock. No more "I Am Not Spock". The book explained that his life & Spock's life is intertwined. Nowadays, he's gratified rather than showed resentment towards Spock for the success that "they" are embracing together. The book brought us behind the scenes of the making of the original TV series, the movies till the first endorsement of the New Generations. It also touched upon other projects that Leonard undertook such as "Three Men & A Baby", & other theatre projects. Leonard also reviewed the process of deriving the best ears for Spock, the origin of Spock's phrase Live Long & Prosper & the famous V sign via Leonard's heritage, the firming up of scripts that bonded the characters of Star Trek together, his relationships with Gene Roddenberry, the hit & miss involvements with Kirstie Alley & Eddie Murphy! Wow, I didn't know that. This is a book for avid Star Trek fans & for those readers who want to catch a glimpse of a dedicated actor being faithful to his character even if it meant losing his own job.
Rating: Summary: Thought-provoking & hilarious. Review: I opened this book expecting to read a continuation of _I_Am_Not_Spock_, one of Nimoy's earlier books, and was pleasantly surprised. This book made me screech with laughter and occasionally blow my nose. Nimoy's version of the "hide Leonard's bike" incident is priceless. He shows a darker side of Star Trek too, mentioning Gene Roddenberry without the halo he seems to have picked up in the last thirty or so years
