Rating: Summary: He does get critical of the current Trek film makers Review: Once agian a must book for any serious star trek fan's library. This book is funny with plently of inside jokes and interesting information. I very much enjoyed it and I feel kind of stupid because I had this book on my self for 5 years before I read it. I'll say this for Nimoy if he is as big an egotist as William Shatner he sure doesn't write like it. While it might not have the scope of Shatner's books, I don't know it just seems more human. Overall-A must for any Star Trek fan.

Rating: Summary: Great read Review: So this is not an autobiography for the person who wants the details of Nimoy's childhood or family life, he focuses almost exclusively on his work. That said, this is a witty, well written work that keeps you chuckling while revealing alot of his character. The conversations between Nimoy and Spock by themselves make it worth the buy. A must for any Star Trek fan.

Rating: Summary: A lovely book. Review: This book has the same casual lightness that characterized the original series of StarTrek, it makes you laugh and it makes you think. It gives you an inside view of the making of the original StarTrek series and the films, and points out things you would never have thought of. If you go back and look at the original StarTrek episodes and films, you'll notice the book has changed your view of them.
This is the book you pull out on a rainy day, not a book you read fast and forget. With his casual style of writing, Nimoy manages to convey a feeling of presence, that he didn't just write this book, but put in a piece of himself with it, that will sit next to you and laugh with you when you read it.
In addition to clearing up the misconceptions of Nimoy-Spock, Nimoy also tells us about other characters he has played, other films he has directed, and what they meant to him. He asks if we would ever look at Spock and see him, and I think after this book, at least I will.
Rating: Summary: an insightful compelling read - i couldn't put it down! Review: This book is a must for any star trek fan who wants an insight into how the series and the subsequent movies came about. there are many interesting trivia facts revealed throughout the book that shed a new light on star trek history. however the most compelling aspect to this read is the insight into the man himself. you are taken into other aspects of his life and find them as important as the star trek aspect. nimoy makes an excellent author and i simply couldn't put the book down until i'd finished it. much more than a memoir - a brilliant read for star trek fans as well as anyone interested in the story of an actors life in hollywood.
Rating: Summary: Thanks, Mr. Nimoy Review: This book is really delicious. It's simultaneously communicative and intimate. I couldn't put it... It's the most honest book any actor has ever written.
Rating: Summary: Disappointment Review: This book was not at all what I expected. Mr. Nimoy wastes precious pages copying the back and forth circulation of memos between himself and various studio personnel. Somewhat amusing, the stories would have been better told through Mr. Nimoy's narrative with portions of the memo's used for emphasis. I expected more of an autobiography, but Mr. Nimoy makes only murky references to his personal life, some of which seem to be purposely misleading. If you have exhausted all other avenues of Star Trek set trivia, you might read this book as a last resort. If you're looking for a picture of Leonard Nimoy, the man, forget it.
Rating: Summary: A Good read Review: This is a very good book but like before it I was surprised at the lack of detailed coverage of his early years. If anyone is planing to read "I am not Spock" as well as this book definitely do so first. The coverage in "Not Spock" is less detailed and most of the important stories are covered in this volume. I missed the Spock/Nimoy chats in this book. Some are contained but mainly only as chapter headers. I suspect this book could be summed up as covering Nimoy's public life. Where as "Not Spock" gave up as bit more on his internal thinking. The stories that are in both books tend to have been expanded a bit in this volume. It is interesting to hear Nimoy's views on the making of the films. I don't think they add anything to William Shatner's Star Trek Movie memories but it helps validate Shatner's book for me. Definitely a good read. Buy it.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Autobiography Review: This is exactly what a Star Trek fan needs to fill the void left by the cancellation of this show. Nimoy's book is intelligent and full of insight. It was particularly interesting to understand how the character Spock evolved over time and how Leonard Nimoy, the actor, worked to perfect the Spock we know and love. Unfortunately, it does make you hungry for more, more, more Trek! 79 episodes and a handful of motion pictures is not enough! I stayed up all night reading this and immediately raced out the next day to search for his first book, "I Am Not Spock." I've even started reading Star Trek novels, as well as the autobiographies of other actors on Star Trek, just to satisfy my new Spock addiction. It was also gratifying to learn that Leonard Nimoy had a good track record outside of Star Trek, in plays as well as film. This background history, added to his insightful descriptions of the concept behind Star Trek and his subsequent successes as a director, makes one feel that Star Trek fandom is the choice of intelligent beings. I read this and felt flattered that I'd had the good sense to love Star Trek in spite of abuse from non-Trekkers. Nimoy is a great actor, on or off of Star Trek. And his kind-but-truthful treatment of William Shatner and Gene Roddenberry, both of whom he could have eviscerated, tells you that he is a good man and a loyal friend as well. Great book, well worth reading!
