Summary: a girls story life (english 51 a)
Review: This book talks about a girl talking to ghosts. I liked what i read so far. I only read not even half of the book, so i can't say much about it. I would recommend for people to read the book if you like ghost things. Besides me reading some of it for my class, I also was told that it's a really good book from other students that read it. I think from what I heard it'll be a book to enjoy reading.

Summary: Lessons gently taught
Review: A GRACIOUS PLENTY is the sweetly unfussy story of Finch Nobles, the caretaker of a graveyard in a small town, who was horribly burned and disfigured as a small child. The townsfolk shun Finch, but she finds acceptance and solace with the souls who inhabit the cemetery-she is able to see and speak with the dead.

Finch has rich friendships with the lost souls; and, with their encouragement, she learns to reach out to those they left behind. She helps the living loved ones learn the truth about those they lost, so that both they and their dead can move on. In so doing, Finch begins to inch back toward the social world of the living herself.

The lessons Reynolds incorporates into her tale may be a bit obvious (be decent to all people, don't be judgmental), but her style is so gently winning that any syrupiness is overcome.

Summary: A good turn of phrase...
Review: Sherri Reynolds comes across with some of the best written imagery I've seen in years. She has a very human protagonist who sees everything (including the dead) in practical terms. At times the plot seems a little too neat and predictable, but the emotional load that it carries is easily taken to heart. This is a quick read and one I keep coming back to for the quality of the writing. Highly recommended, especially for a summer reading list.

Summary: A Gracious Plenty
Review: A Gracious Plenty is a very well written book and easy for all people to read. The main character, Finch Nobles, is a lady who was badly burned in a household accident as a child. This book has many twists and some parts will catch you by surprise. That is the biggest reason that I found this book so interesting. Reynolds also uses imagery which makes this book very mesmerizing. This is a very good story and everyone who reads it will definately gain something from.
A Gracious Plenty is a triumph of story, voice, and character. The afflicted and unforgettable Finch, whose longings inspire in equal measure love and awe and pity, who seeks to understand the difference between the kind of suffering brought upon us and the kind we bring upon ourselves, defies mortality. Stunning and authentic. . . this is a beautiful book.
A Gracious Plenty lures the reader quickly into the story, and refuses to release its hold on your imagination until you've read it through. This novel of eccentricity and inner beauty transcends the way we often categorize both the living and the dead. Sheri Reynolds shows rare talent and inventiveness, and deserves every bit of attention she gets.

Summary: A Pleasant Read
Review: A Gracious Plenty was a great book. It had mystery, a love story, and some scary parts, all things which make a great book.
Some things in the book could have been better though. For instance, the timeline in the story was confusing at times, and the begining of the book was hard to understand, but by the middle it started to clear up.
The things I liked about the book, were the different storys told by the ghosts and the portryal of represented by the author. The mystery was good too, it kept you guessing until the end about why Marcus (The baby) cried all the time.
This book could be better with a change of order in the story, but overall it was a great read and I enjoyed reading it, even if it was for an english class.

Summary: A Gracious Plenty
Review: This book is one that can get you hooked if you are into fictional books. A Gracious Plenty is about a woman who comes to find out that she has the "gift" to talk to the dead. This book takes though ups and downs with Finch (main character) with great detail and character description.

Summary: Extremely Good
Review: There is nothing extreme about this particular novel; however that is what makes it extremely good. It was a novel I could read in my spare time and never grow tired of. It is profound how many lessons are learned through the trials and tribulations that these characters endured through there "life" and "death." Finch Nobles wins my sympathy over as a little girl when she is burned and must endure the rest of her life as a freak. The most compelling piece of this spiritual puzzle was the fact that the community of the living rejected Finch for her disgusting looks and "odd" personality. Yet, the community of the dead readily welcomed her and made her an intricate part of their healing process to move on to other realms. As a whole I think that this novel is rich with descriptive details and emotions. I would readily read this book a second time to better understand not only the symbolism strewn throughout, but also because it was enjoyable.

Summary: Reject or Community Member?
Review: A Gracious Plenty was such a great novel that I need to get some of the negatives out of the way. The beginning was flat in its action and the way the dead were introduced puzzled me. I wasn't quite sure if Finch was dead herself or rather she was talking to real people.
After driving through the introduction however, the reader is bombarded by thoughts and ideas being pushed out by seemingly every character. Sympathy is immediately felt for the poor four year old girl Finch who is burned and scarred for the rest of her life. The town rejects her and her parents leave her to tend a cemetery. While there, she begins to learn about the towns folk and slowly becomes part of the community. Every character brings around another question for the reader and the plot as a whole drives home the notion that our society bases its opinions on beauty and elegance. However, it also encourages us to explore our feelings and beliefs from a spiritual sense and questions the reality of ghosts and the spirit world. Intriguing and mysterious right to the end and I would encourage all to take a look at this novel.

Summary: A Gracious Plenty
Review: The main character in this book is a lady by the name of Finch Nobles. As a child Finch gets picked on and called names by everyone. Through her life this never seems to go away. She only has a handful of friends; her mother and father, animals and the dead. All through the book the dead people are telling stories about their lives before they died. They talk about stuff like childhood and what let to their death. I think the only part that threw me off was the cross dressing man who breast fed a baby. That didn't really make sense to me and I don't think I want it to make sense. The book was a good book and should be read, especially if you like books that will give you mixed feelings about the characters and their stories.
