Summary: Wonderful Book!
Review: This is a wonderful book. Only one who is rebellious to God and His teachings would find this book objectionable. God has very definite boundaries and hope all will find the peace He offers. Others that follow His teachings and do the best they can to live His word will find this a comfort and an enjoyable read. This is a must read for Christian, followers of Jesus Christ.

Summary: a view from the other side....
Review: From the point of view of a white gay male European, Harris' book was an eye-opener, and not a 100% positve one....He portrays the double stigma of being black and gay in a predominantly white straight world moderately well (triple stigma if you're HIV positive), and it was interestding to see the world through eyes where whites are reduced to irrelevancies on the periphery. The characters could have been more interesting, but seem underdeveloped, and the plot is sooo contrived as to be totally implausible. And I still ask myself, in this day and age do (black) people really have prayer partners etc like Nicole does?? How anyone can be (as) religious (as that) in the third millennium boggles the mind. And the way all the main charachters end up "happily ever after" with respective partners, ALL without exception devoutly religious, is so sugary and over the top, that it's enough to give anyone diabetes. E. Lynn Harris- don't you realise that religion has always been one of the main weapons in the arsenal of the bigot (be they homophobic, racist or misogynist). The message (if any) seems to be: turn to God and everything will be fine. Well, if you believe that you are not only blind, but also woefully ignorant. Interesting but not terribly impressive.

Summary: Hypnotizing !!!
Review: Need a dose of therapy? Read this book. I love Harris's sophisticated style of writing and his heartfelt characters. He is truly a brilliant writer. Not to many people would risk their job to be by somebody's side the way Raymond did for Kyle. Kyle's letter to Raymond blew me away. Kyle was the link between Nicole and Raymond, now Jared is. Talking about being in the closet..I think it was very rude what Basil did to Raymond when Dyanna showed up. I can't say much, I'm in a hurry to read "Abide With Me" Keep up the good writing Harris.

Summary: Just As I Am
Review: This book was just as good as the first one. It gave explicit details about the relationships going on in this book. I was happy to know what happened to the character in this book b/c I was left hanging from the first book. Also I can not wait until he writes another one.

Summary: Ridiculously juvenile!
Review: I am truly stupefied that anyone found this book anything more than dry and pretentious.These characters are so underdeveloped and superficial I was able to read as a completely detached observer.The dialogue is contrived and stilted,and there is no unity in the narrative of the story:the chapters could well be excerpts from any of 100 different books...but let's at least be glad there aren't 100 other similar books out there. I sympathize with the author's sense of urgency in revealing the angst of the gay male of African origin,and that of AIDS sufferers, but an essay on the same would have been a more humane experience than this juvenile short story that E. Lynn Harris tries to pass off as adult literary fiction!

Summary: Perfect!
Review: This was such a perfect sequel it's not even funny. I loved all the character's expecially Kyle. I damned there cried at the end of this book. While reading this book Kyle became a friend of mine. I'm kinda happy Jared was'nt gay......kinda. I'm a brown skinned women myself and being that I'm not out in the world in showbizness I don't know how it is to be dicrimanated by being dark. I love my color, and LOVE the way I look. But in a way I can relate to Nicole. But I hatted the way she had such a hangup about it. I absolutley loved this novel.

Summary: A PAGE TURNER
Review: This has been a captivating book which makes you think about the world and God. It has brought out alot of issues in todays world dealing with the situation in the Gay society invovling E. Lynn Harris second book. Raymond (the main character) and his friend Kyle, who I have grown fond of, has pointed out a lot of the things in life which makes you think and ponder after each and every chapter. Nicole and her friend Delaney had done the same coming from the womens point of view. It's something that you'll be thankful for once you have pick up the book. Hands to you Harris.

Summary: Great writing, as usual, but....
Review: I love this author and am reading in order of his books. He writes so well, and his characters really feel like family by the end of the book. However, that said, I would wish for a few less pages of the sadness of the AIDS epidemic. I'm going to blame that on the book editor, because I really felt they could have cut 20 pages or so without losing the meaning. Still, it is certaintly a book worth buying and reading, one with ties to the characters that you just don't want to end. I am looking forward to reading his "bestseller" (yea!) and am sure I won't be disappointed.

Summary: One book will get you hooked!
Review: I listened to the audio version of this book and as soon as I finished I went out and got the audio version of "Invisible Life" and can't wait to listen to the audio versions of all of these books! Braxton and Boatman made the characters come alive and captured all of the emotions of Harris's work. I listen to (and read) a lot of books and this is one of my favorites. E.Lynn Harris has created a cast of characters that you care about and relate to no matter what your sexual preference or race. I love the fact that he has written a series of books that will continue to follow the lives of these characters, because he makes you care enough about them to want to follow their stories. And Braxton and Boatman have done such a great job with the audio version that I really want to listen to the rest of the books rather than read them!
