Summary: Invisibility Comes to Light
Review: As a new member of the black gay community, my reading of this book has definitely opened my eyes as to the future that could possible lay ahead for me. While the book begins a bit slowly, it truly does a great job telling the world of the innermost feelings of the newly-discovered gay black male.

Summary: What am I missing?
Review: I heard such good things about Mr. Harris' books and this novel in particular. I read the first paragraph and was a little disappointed. The writing is very simple. But whatever. I knew what the book was about and I really wanted to read it so I kept going. I made it to chapter 3 or 4 and gave up. The writing style is too simple and the characters are very one dimensional. Eric J. Dickey writes so much better than E. Lynn Harris. You can see everything Mr. Dickey writes and feel every emotion. I really tried to like Invisible Life but I just could'nt.

Summary: Best Book I ever read
Review: This is the first book I ever read by E. Lynn Harris and have been hooked every since. It also changed my views on homosexuality I understand it alot better now.

Summary: Fresh Perspective on a Taboo Subject
Review: E. Lynn Harris has an astounding gift of writing simply intriguing stories. He involves the reader from the onset. While the subject matter of homosexuality/bisexuality is one that "normal folks" would not consider reading, Mr Harris forces us to look in the mirror, explore our sexuality and question that of those we consider "straight". One becomes instantly hooked on the characters and their interaction with eachother. You instantly love, hate, sympathize and understand these characters as though they are personal friends. Do yourself a favor and read these wonderful books in the order they were written starting with Invisible Life. I promise, you will be glad you did.

Summary: Welcome to the life
Review: This book was wonderful. It introduced me to a world that I was not aware of. Raymond Daly was so real, the pain of living this invisible life, the friends and difficult choices you have to make when you walk through that life. ELH wrote wonderful love scenes both with women with men and men with men. The experiences that Ray went through broke your heart, it makes you appreciate the bravery someone must have to be totally "out". But, you also have to appreciate someone who doesn't or can't get "out".

Summary: One of my all time favorite authors
Review: This was the first book I read from E.Lynn Harris and I absoloutely loved it. It opened my eyes to so many different things. I never thought I would like to read a novel about gay or bisexual men. I realized they are all not the flamming gay men that people seem to sterotype them to. I loved the character Raymond he was hard workings and kept his private life seperate.

Review: Invisible life is my book... I recommend it to anyone... Raymond considers himself as being gay but he is really bi-sexual, if your going to put a label on it... this book gets straight to the point and staight up freaky... (not freakier than b-boy blues) And I recommend it to anyone

Summary: Lives and loves of a bisexual black man
Review: In his first book Invisible Life, the author E. Lynn Harris introduced me to a world which before this was truly invisible and unknown to me. The chronicle of Raymond over a number of years described not only the life of a black man but one who was bisexual as well. Meeting Raymond Daly first as a young Southern college student deeply involved in a heterosexual relationship with his college sweetheart, to the days of his affair with a gay black man and then a black actress, to an acquiantance dying of AIDS, this book is especially memorable and poignant. It isn't any wonder then, that by the end of the book Ray is beset with uncertainties as to his sexuality. Pressure from his family not to even think of himself as a homosexual, hiding his bisexuality from the stodgy law firm he works for and then meeting a beautiful black actress who falls in love with him, by the books end, Ray must finally decide to consider the direction of his realtionships and his sexual life.I found this book to be an easy read. Perhaps a bit too easy. It only took me les than a day to finish the book and at times I found the writing was like a very long coversation, instead of a novel. Despite this The characters were finely drwan and I am looking forward to reading the next two books in this series to see the final decisions Ray makes regarding his life.

Summary: Something to read and learn
Review: This book was the first I ever read by E. Lynn Harris and thankfully I did cause I just find out that there was two other books of his that follow up on the story. It's captivating cause it's something that I didn't know about and I took it as a learning process coming through the eyes of the main character Raymond and his friends Kelvin, Kyle, Quinn and JJ. I have to admitt some of the parts of the book had me quizzy, but I had to be open minded, espically on the intimate parts that the character's had encountered and the mellow moments that they shared. The story line was great and I was anxious to get into the second book which I'm already in. Good work Harris.
