Rating: Summary: When my son was born, we recited parts of this book to him.. Review: ...in the NICU. "But his parents loved him. They kissed his wet pink nose, they admired his small black eyes, and they stroked his sweet white fur." Our four-year-old nephew wanted us to name the baby Julius (and we have tee-shirts personalized with Julius, though his name is Jake). We love this book SOOOOO much, and we give it often as a gift. It's a pleasure to read over and over again. "Kiss! Admire! Stroke!"

Rating: Summary: A book kids relate to...!!! Review: A charming book with captivating illustrations, exploring the resentment all new siblings feel, turning it around to create to a "surprise" ending where Lilly's loyal side finally shines through. All kids Lilly's age worry a little when they feel "bad-kid" emotions; this book offers reassurance that it'll probably turn out okay in the end. Kevin Henkes is fast becoming one of our favourite children's authors / illustrators!!!

Rating: Summary: Excellent for kids experiencing a new baby in the family. Review: As an educator, this book is one of the best. My kids and I both find this book excellent for children who are going through the changes of a new sibling. I read this book every year and my students always love it! The illustrations are simple, but expressive. A definte buy for the elementary school library!
Rating: Summary: It's ok to have have hateful feelings toward your baby sib!! Review: Besides being incredibly fun for us to read together, this book has offered my older child help in meeting the challenge of figuring out his complex feelings about his baby sister. We are now working our way through all of Kevin Henkes' books. My son and I are passionate about them!

Rating: Summary: This is the perfect gift for a new "big sister" Review: I first heard of this book through Reading Rainbow on PBS. It's fabulous -- and fits my daughter to a T. When you're buying a baby gift for the new Julius in your circle of friends....don't forget this book. It's simply my daughter's favorite.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: I love all the Kevin Henkes books, but this one is my favorite. My son (2) loves the book and the pictures. I like the premise that Lily has about not being thrilled to have a little brother but finds herself surprisingly protective of him in the end. Very similar to my own experience. I especially love all the little comments inserted into the pictures, we can't get through a reading without mentioning those as well.
