Summary: Wonderful book for children and adults.
Review: My entire family absolutely loves this book. It is a great read-aloud story that children happily listen to time after time. We call it "Max, the Baby of the World," after my youngest child. I bought extra copies and passed them on to relatives who have gone on to do the same. It is a timeless story of sibling rivalry and love.

Summary: Perfect gift for a new older sibling
Review: My husband and I are both pediatricians, and not only do we love reading this book ourselves, we both have recommended it to the parents of newborns who might have Lillies of their own at home.

Summary: One of the funniest children's books ever written.
Review: My sister checked this book out from the library and asked me to read it to her. We laughed so hard we cried. Lilly is trully the ultimate expression of how we all feel about siblings when they get more attention than we do. Children and adults alike will love this book.

Summary: Hilarious, charming and a little educational thrown in
Review: One of only a very few children's books that is laugh-out-loud funny for adults. For the kids, the pictures are colorful and charming (as are all Kevin Henkes illustrations) and the lesson in sibling jealously is a good one. I buy this book for all my little friends who are expecting their first younger brother or sister. A gem among the wonderful collection of Kevin Henkes books.

Summary: My three year old goes ga-ga over this one every time!
Review: The big sister is not at all thrilled by her baby brother until another kid at school disparages him. A great lesson in family stick-togetherness. "Julius" is a very good book for a mom (or dad) and kid read-aloud. My little girl begs for it, perhaps because it involves a baby and a big sister, which is something she knows a lot about. And I like it too, because as many times as I am requested to read it, I never tire of it. This is due in part to the thoughtful, colorful illustrations. But also, it is a very sweet story.

Summary: Hysterically funny!
Review: This book is a delight and an ice breaker for children who have just become older siblings! My daughter is 7 and we have a new baby and she just thinks this book is great! It is a wonderfully funny, honest account of an older sibling's initial feelings of jealousy for the new baby and how that gets turned around.

Summary: Siblings: The love/hate relationship
Review: This book is as interesting for me as a father as it is for my children. It focuses on feelings that an older child has of being displaced by a younger sibling, and how the older child comes to take an interest in the younger. The characters are lovable, the artwork full of humor, the tone, caring. My children request it again and again.

Summary: new baby on the way?
Review: This book, cleverly disguised as a children's story, is in my top five faves. It rings so true and is so hilarious, I sometimes read it for my own pleasure, even when my children aren't interested. A wonderful story for a kid around four or five with a new sibling on the way/recently arrived. Wonderful text and excellent illustrations; I practically know it by heart!

Summary: Caution for younger children
Review: Unfortunately I did not get a chance to read this book prior to purchasing (my fault!). While I find the book cute and fun to read, I thought Lilly's opinion of her new little brother a little too harsh. My 2 1/2 year old likes the book, but I change some of the words when I read it to her. We are expecting a new little brother very soon and I didn't want to put ideas/words into her head like "disgusting" or that "I hate you". We use "yucky" and "I don't like you". We also don't read many of Lilly's little picture comments. So far my daughter has a positive attitude about the new baby brother and I don't think this book fosters the feeling I was looking for. The ending is very happy and positive, but I don't think it's the best choice for a 2 year old.
