Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: Great first part of the Lost Earth trilogy--can't wait for the others
Rating: Summary: Post-Holocaust and beyond!! Review: I had reservations about this new series at first - but after reading great stories like this one, it just gets better and better. I love the ideas and the deep storyline. This new trilogy is taking this series to new heights! I AM REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT ONE!!
Rating: Summary: A GREAT start! Review: I have recently finished the first in the Lost Worlds Trilogy and have to say that it is an incredible start to the series within a series. At first I was a little apprehensive with the alternate earth's but as I read further the idea began to grow on me. The author has shown us a brief glimpse into the worlds that Kane and Co will be visiting. What we were shown, the future where Nazi Germany had won WW2 was truly horrifying, and makes me more thankful than ever that the allies had won the war. Col. Thrush (introduced in Omega Path) has thrown down the gauntlet and has challenged Kane to stop him. Never to back away, Kane has accepted the challenge and will be doing what no other person in the history of either series has done. Travelled to a parallel casement. The mini series will be incredible and I can't WAIT for the next installment.
Rating: Summary: Who wants to read a textbook? Review: I'm really sorry to pan a book in a series I have come to like, but, as a lawyer who has to read altogether too many dry, hypertechnical documents a day, this was a real failure. I feel that the genre is ACTION first and foremost, and the complexity of this series is just simply getting in the way of the action. I am quite capable of achieving suspension of disbelief, and I don't need a textbook on the pseudophysics of time/dimensional travel to do so. Probably 80 pages of this work could have been directed to actions and adventure rather than trying to achieve an unneeded "scientific" basis for the way the characters get where they are going. I know Einstein says no going beyond light speed - maybe he is right but I still want to see Star Wars and won't care a bit about Einstein. Axler - its OK, we got to the new dimension - lets DO something there!!!!!
Rating: Summary: This book deserves more than 5 stars! Review: I've been reading Outlanders since the beginning and it wasn't until I recently got online I realized I could comment about it. I want everybody to know how great this series is and this latest book is great, too. I cant find anything to complain about!!! It's got everything an action fan could ask for. I wish they'd make movies out of it!
Rating: Summary: From the first page to the last Review: It took me awhile to get my hands on this book and there's not much I can say about it which hasn't been said already. I thought "Iceblood" couldn't be topped, but along comes "Hellbound Fury" and changes my mind. It's excellent and entertaining from the first page to the last. Its disappointing that Deathlands can't seem to break out of the dismal "Mad Max" formula and have the consistent level of quality of Outlanders, but that's just an opinion."Hellbound Fury" is a terrific read.
Rating: Summary: Grand adventure Review: Since the very first book in this series, the readers have been treated to one grand adventure after another and Hellbound Fury is the grandest one yet.So far, Outlanders has avoided most of the pitfalls which plague Deathlands or any on-going series. The characters continue to evolve and the stories are about a lot more than simple survival. And most importantly, at the end of every book I'm always hungry for more. Hellbound Fury really whets my appetite for the next installament in the trilogy.
Rating: Summary: Gripping! Review: The first book in the Lost Earth Sag was gripping, suspenseful and even shocking. The alternate reality visited by the heroes is even worse than the one they came from, if that can be imagined. The action is fast, fierce and bloody, but there are also some funny scenes in it, particularly between Kane and Brigid.Outlanders is consistently top-notch, always delivering what it promises and then some.
Rating: Summary: My First James Axler Book - what a great read, excellent Review: This was my first read of a James Axler book. When I started to read it seemed that the characters had been around awhile and had a long history. I was concerned that I may have to read the first zillion books to understand the atmosphere of the story. But this was not the case, this book can be read as a one of, no need to refer any other book all that is needed for the story is contained within the book. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. The only criticism was the time travel content, I found it a bit overwhelming at times. But over all I loved it! I am patiently (not) waiting the next book ..... I am hooked..
Rating: Summary: Ashamed--Not! Review: What could have been just another post-nuke series with super-studs shooting mutants is something you don't have to be ashamed of being caught reading. The first part of the Lost Earth Saga has gone beyond anything Axler ever did in either Deathlands or Earthblood. The charcaters are cool, the plot is riveting and the action scenes can't be beat. I congratulate him on creating Colonel Thrush, one of the most evil--but fascinating--villains to come along in quite some time. Now if he can just figure out a way to bring back Tara from Doomstar Relic, I'd be really happy. Here's hoping Outlanders is around for a long time to come!
