Summary: Perfect mix of Romance and Suspense
Review: "Sanctuary" by Nora Roberts is a truly enjoyable and worth-while read. The story is absorbing and well-written and contains a mix of fabulous, complex characters.
"Sanctuary" is the story of three siblings, Jo Ellen, Brian and Lexy Hathaway. Jo Ellen is a successful photographer and a workaholic. She suffers a nervous breakdown when she receives a photo from an anonymous sender of her mother, thought to have abandoned her family and run away with another man 20 years ago, looking young and beautiful, naked, and unmistakably dead.
When Jo Ellen is released from hospital she returns to Sanctuary Inn, her family home on an island off the coast of Georgia. Jo Ellen sets about rebuilding her relationships with her brother Brian, the inn's chef, and her ever-jealous sister Lexy, an aspiring actress working as Sanctuary's waitress. She is also looking for some stability and a place to regain her sanity.
Enter Nathan Delaney, who was with his family on the island the summer that Jo Ellen's mother disappeared. Jo Ellen and Nathan are drawn to each other and develop a relationship. But Nathan is tormented by a dark secret that has attracted a killer to the island and has put Jo Ellen in more danger than anyone suspects.
Add to the mix a romance between Brian and the pretty island doctor, Kirby, and a romance between Lexy and her long-time friend Griff, and you have the recipe for a highly entertaining book. The suspense builds effectively and the clues provided will keep the reader guessing. Jo Ellen and Nathan's romance, which is the main focus, is by turns sexy and moving.
I have noticed some complaints from reviewers who thought there were too many characters and storylines, but I personally never felt this was a problem. Each storyline is fully developed and all of the characters have their motivations well explained. I really enjoyed watching all three of the Hathaway siblings finding someone to love and depend on in the midst of the disturbing events taking place on their island.
"Sanctuary" is a fabulous, fun read, containing well-written romances and an exciting and suspenseful mystery. So pick this book up today and enjoy!

Summary: Ready For The Tv Movie
Review: When I heard that Nora Roberts novel Sanctuary was being made into a movie, I realized that, for some unknown reason, I had missed reading this book. So, of course, I had to find the book and read it before the movie came out. Now I'm looking forward to the movie, which airs February 28th. In Sanctuary, Jo Ellen Hathaway, a famous photographer, starts getting pictures in the mail of herself and one of her mother, who the family always believed left them over 20 years ago. Jo Ellen goes home to Sanctuary where she meets up with Nathan Delaney, a childhood friend, who has also come back, to eventually tell the Hathaway family that he believes their mother didn't leave them, but was murdered. Jo Ellen is still being stalked while on the island, what she doesn't realize is the stalker is out to kill her also. Sanctuary was a good suspense novel, although it didn't leave much guess as to who the killer was. I did enjoy seeing the family overcome their bitterness toward each other, and see them all find love. Hope the movie is as good as the book!

Summary: Loved it
Review: Listen, new and old Roberts readers...I read a lot...more than 25 books in a week. This one is good and does have all the elements for greatness. I probably will never give a book 5 stars unless it made me laugh, cry, and think at the same time.

This one is highly enjoyable. Curl up and read.

Summary: wouldn't read it again
Review: I felt like I was watching a poorly made horror movie that included casual sex while the killer was planning his next move. I can deal with there being a rape or murder because all suspense books are based on some type of violence, but did there have to be such graphic detail? I only finished it because I wanted to know who the psycho was. All violence put aside, it was a decent suspense story but didn't include any romance whatsoever. Casual sex does not equal romance in my book. Reader discretion advised: rape, murder, lots of casual sex, adult scenes and overall violence. Not on my bookshelf anymore.

Summary: great reads!
Review: There are not too many novels out there that combine murder-mystery with romance, but this is a good one. I could not figure out 'who dunnit' til the end, and I usually have a pretty good idea!

This is a dark and mysterious tale, that should be read with all the lights on! Also recommend 'The Reef' and 'Carolina Moon'.

Summary: Great characters but predictable ending
Review: I love Nora Roberts' books and this one was no exception. The characters are ones that you feel you know and the interaction between characters is very engaging. As a avid Nora Roberts reader, I was a little disappointed at the ending of this story. Generally, I can never guess who the "bad" guy is. This one I guessed within the first 20 pages and I was right. That being said, the story was still very good and I loved the characters.

Summary: Returning Home is not so safe...
Review: Sanctuary is a safe haven for Jo Ellen Hathaway. It is her family's island home off the coast of Georgia, where she grew up with her brother Brian and sister Alexa. Although Sanctuary also carries emotional burdens for Jo Ellen. Her beloved mother disappeared 20 years ago never to be heard from again. Her father withdrew from his family in mourning, Jo Ellen escaped the island and became a successful photographer. Suddenly she is being stalked by someone sending her pictures of her mother, Jo Ellen realizes her mother is dead. After suffering an emotional breakdown, Jo Ellen retreats to Sanctuary. There she finds love after meeting Nathan Delaney, who visited the island with his family the summer of Jo Ellen's mom disappeared. The mystery is fast paced and intriguing, the one complaint I have is there were so many characters and love stories for each of the sibilings, they sometimes felt rushed, or maybe I wanted more stories on each of the siblings...I recommend reading Sanctuary...it speeds up as the book progresses until you can't turn the pages fast enough!
