Rating: Summary: Beautifully written, well-developed Review: Enjoyed the character development with a nice dose of excitement. Lovely summer reading when looking for some romance.
Rating: Summary: Three love stories and a mystery. WOW! Review: This was an excellent book. I could not put it down. I did nothing today but eat lunch, supper and read. Good thing I am retired. All of the characters were good, and the story was GREAT. Well worth the price.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: I loved this book! It was great! I love Nora Roberts anyway. I read some of the comments below and the person who said the ending was not resolved must not have finished the book! The killer does get "caught" and it does tell what happens to everyone. It was really good, Its worth reading- definately if your a Roberts fan!
Rating: Summary: IT WAS A NOT PUT DOWN, 2 DAY READ!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: I loved this book!!! I could not put down this book. I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through, I'm totally looking forward to my next Nora book. THANKS!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Disappointed with psychotic turn of the latest novels Review: I've enjoyed Nora Roberts' novels and went back to read her older ones too. Lately her novels (with the exception of the MacGregor series) have introduced very dark sides - serial rapists/killers, abusive childhoods. I don't like having my stomach turned when I'm reading to "escape". I have friends who love Nora Roberts' novels too and threw away this one since they didn't want it in the house with teenage kids around. I hope she sticks with jewel thieves, etc. or advertises these new ones under a different series name/style. This was a bummer.
Rating: Summary: One of Ms. Roberts' Best Review: The quote on the cover says, "Nora Roberts just keeps getting better and better." I have to agree. This is one of her best to date -- and for an author who writes one good book after another -- that says a lot.
Rating: Summary: Terrible Ending Review: I am a Nora Roberts fan, but this is one of the worst books I have wasted my time on. The first 484 pages were fantastic, I couldn't put the book down. The last two pages did not conclude the story. I kept going back to my book to make sure that I didn't loose any pages or miss something. VERY DISAPPOINTING ENDING. The killer leaves two men (possibly for dead) and goes off to find the woman he has stalked throughout the book. Lives were left in the balance-who dies, who lives, does the killer get caught?
Rating: Summary: Great characters; gorgeous locale Review: I loved this book and appreciated the way Ms. Roberts is pushing the envelope of romantic suspense. This is the first time I've read a romantic suspense thriller where the author has portrayed the hero as a plausible suspect -- in fact, I had to check the back of the book to make sure the hero was actually the hero... I wasn't going to make the mistake of caring about a hero who turned out to be a sadistic murderer! And I'm pleased that he was indeed a one-in-a-million hero.Ms. Roberts is truly a gifted descriptive writer. The island came to vivid life and it was as if I could feel the grit of the sand as I walked the beach with the characters. And the storm! Ms. Roberts' descriptive power put me there with the screaming winds lashing my hair about my face and the rains pelting mercilessly. I've never been in a hurricane before, but it felt as if I'd been through one after reading about Hurricane Carla! Bravo, Nora! I hesitated reading this book because it didn't seem like my type, but I'm glad I gave it a try. In fact, I got it from the library and enjoyed it so much that, after I finished it, I went out and bought my own copy for future re-reading!
Rating: Summary: BRUTAL, SEXUALLY GRAPHIC TRASH Review: This book is a disturbing combination of two very popular genres, romance and mystery. I enjoy reading an occasional romance and this one was highly recommended, so I gave it a try. I regret having finished it. It had all of the classic earmarks of a good simple romance, exotic local, feisty woman, handsome men...with one disturbing twist..graphic portrayals of violent, sexually perverse murders. Hardly the makings of enjoyable escapism. I worry that other readers weren't disturbed by the transition in one paragraph from the harmless titillation of a good sex on the counter scene to a vivid description of sexual stimulation induced by strangulation. If you enjoyed this book, you should probably see a therapist.
Rating: Summary: This was a REALLY good book!!!! Review: I read this book because I needed something to read for a book report. I wasn't to excited about it because it was SOOOO LONG!!!!! By the time I got a fourth of the way through, I couldn't put it down! It is SUCH a GOOD book! I would reccomend it to older readers only though!
