Summary: Often felt soul-related to Lucille...
Review: I read this book abou 3 years ago, when I was about to graduate school, and I still think about it a lot. It was very intetesting to read about adolescense in such an unusual way. I was delighted with some of Lucille's views of the world and at the same ti me found my own opinions more normal when I often saw them expressed by Josephine Humphreys, through Lucille. She is a girl who follows her impulses, acts according to her feelings and makes many mistakes. But those mistakes let her become a real human being and tell the reader that people are making mistakes all the time, and this is not a tragedy, but can teach you much about life. I loved the book and recommend it to everyone!

Summary: A book that sparked my intrest.
Review: I was asigned to read this book in my English class, and most of the books have trouble finishing the books. I had no problems finishing the book Rich in Love. I like reading a book that gave me a different perspective on a teenage life. Most people write about the normal teenage life, but not Josehpine Humphreys. She draws you into this book and you do not want to put it down. I liked how she turned the role of parents and teenagers on the characters Lucille and Warren. Lucille the daughter takes on the role of the care giver when her mom leaves and her dad needs someone to take care of him. I recommend this book. It give you a whole new perspective on what some peoples lives are like.

Summary: A wonderful book that gives new insight on love!
Review: Rich in Love is a book that any American teenager can relate to. I am a 17-year-old girl and completely understand some of the feelings the main character, Lucille, has. Like most high school students, she has to deal with so many obstacles in her life. But it is Lucille's idea of love that gives her the most trouble. She does not know how to deal with all of the love she has to give. I think that this is a great book for people my age because we are beginning to deal with first loves and don't really know how to handle it. I enjoy how the book gave me different views on love. I was able to learn the importance of love related to my life. I usually do not enjoy many books but this one really kept my attention. I think it is a great read for anyone with a lot of love.

Summary: my favorite book
Review: Sometimes, these coming of age books are over my emotional head. This one wanders and meanders around with the different characters being focused. Mother moves out abruptly, leaving the teen Lucille to cope with her dismayed father who has lost his license to drive due to excessive speed. Lucille must assume the role of female caretaker. Then her sister, Rae, arrives home with a husband and very pregnant. This compounds the situation. Father takes up with another woman, midway. Mother calls home frequently to chat but nothing is accomplished. Lucille has a somewhat boyfriend but eventually falls for Rae's husband and this makes things somewhat more interesting. The delivery of Rae's baby makes for an exciting scene, but overall the book just puddles along until it ends. Not one of HUmphries's best.

Summary: A moving book with insights on true love and a great plot.
Review: The novel Rich in Love by Josephine Humphreys is a great book filled with many answers to the mysterious feelings of growing adolescents. The character Lucille encompasses the essence of being an adolescent when dealing with the crises of her life. With mood swings, unexplained forceful reactions, and raging hormones, it's almost as if teenagers are reading a book about their own life. Most notable in the book is Lucille's view on love and how it should be handled. She has love for everything, but her true, secret love is Billy McQueen. Although she has had no physical pleasure with Billy, Lucille loves everything about him with every inch of her body. She appreciates all that he does, and notices several qualities which remain hidden to others. The reader watches as Lucille's love grows, and the reader is informed of all the feelings that she has. Lucille's love soon reaches the breaking point and evenually Billy seems to fall victim to its grasp. The result is adultery. This catches the reader off guard with just the thought of the age differential between the two. However, this incident brings Lucille into a new reality or a coming of age, where she realizes that she will never be with Billy. She knows that she has experienced love to its fullest and is secure enough and mature enough now, to handle the real world.

Summary: Worth a look
Review: This certainly isn't the best book I've ever read by any means, however it has a certain meaning to it and a nice crafting of the the story that it is most certainly a worthwile read. The characters I well made and complex and the setting is also very realistic. This is a great novel about change and accepting new circumstances.

Summary: Your best choice
Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read, even though I am only half way through it now, I want to tell the world how great this book is(besides, I wouldn't want to tell you all about what it's about, it'll spoil the fun). I fell in love with the book as soon as I started to read page one. The book is about a seventeen-year-old girl, Lucille, who wouldn't quite be your idea of nowaday teenagers. The author Josephine Humphreys has written the voices of emotions and theories of Lucille delicately in the book. She could live so miracously as what seems ordinary to outsiders. At the age of only seventeen, she is more mature, intelligent than any other people at her age group. She discovers herself living rich in love as she handles the incident of her mother "finding another life". This is the book I have been seeking for in the past months, a book I can really relate and find amusing to through all the voices in her mind. This book is written with wisdom. (ps, I ordered this book and it was worht every penny of it)
