Summary: Most exciting read since The Kingdoms & the Elves
Review: My nieces are Snicket fans through and through. We've read every book. Most of them together when they visit. I have all 9 books on the shelf. This is a perfect series for girls of any age. Baby Sunny will get to you too. I dont know why it says ages 10 and up. I think 10 is almost too old to start reading these. Strange things happen that out of context seem violent but it isn't really.

Summary: I hate cliffhangers!
Review: No doubt here... Daniel Handler (or Lemony Snicket, which is his pen name, which here means "the name he uses to disguise himself from his evil enemies while writing about the Baudelaire tragedy") has provided us with a superb book- not a five star book, though. According to me, a book that's about fifty pages longer than the average in the series should contain fifty pages' worth more story. But Mr. Snicket has only provided us with merely more descriptive accounts- which might be tiresome despite his amazing sense of humor. It really amazed me that Mr. Snicket still has what it takes to write a novel after the absolute flunk provided by "Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography" (and no, I'm not a nine-year old). The book carries on with Mr. Snicket's "long" tradition of good-tasting humor, irony and impressive use of vocabulary -you shouldn't expect Shakespearean use of the language here, though- while keeping the book simple enough for eight-year-olds.
I would not like to tell you one bit of the story here (even though some other reviewers might have already or will spoil you the surprises) so... all I will tell you is that if you were disappointed after "...The Unauthorized Autobiography" you should definitely consider reading it. But, as Mr. Snicket always warns at the beginning of his writings... "Not for the faint of heart or mind".

Dèja Vu! (You'll understand when you read the book).

Summary: The Sad Book of 3 orphans and why I liked it
Review: My Dad helped me read this book. Its really cool! It starts with 3 orphans named Violet, Klaus and Sunny who continue in a disasterous and sad adventure once again. First they get squished in the trunk of an evil crime maker, Count Olaf. They land at a mysterious carnival filled with man-eating lions, a fortune teller who knows almost everything, an archival library and some freaks. They find themselves hiding in disguises as a two headed freak and a half wolf baby. The situation in this book is about who is going to get eaten by lions, the importance of keeping a promise, and finding out the real meaning of the secret initials "V.F.D."
I think the book is really awesome because the orphans find some freakish friends, a safe place, and another meaning for V.F.D.
As the author says,

With all due respect,

Summary: A Series of Unfortunate Events #9
Review: This story was one of the best books I've ever read. I found myself staying up all night reading it. It's about 3 sibs, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny. They've been running from an evil man named Count Olaf. He's been finding the children by asking a fortuneteller who seems to always get the right answers. Now the 3 sibs are in disguise as a 2 headed freak and a half wolf half baby named, Chabo the Wolf Baby, in a freak house at the Caligari Carnival. Then Count Olaf buys a bunch of lions to put in a pit and guess which freak has to jump in with the lions.

I loved this book because it's really suspenseful, especially when Violet, and Klaus were about to jump to the lions. I really like this author's style of writing. I could really picture the carnival. Compared to the other books in the series this one's my favorite. I rate it 5 stars, because I liked it a lot, and it had great suspense.

Summary: Gets Better Every Time
Review: With each unfortunate outing, the poor Baudelaire orphans get themselves in deeper trouble than they could possibly imagine. This time the ending will leave you literally hanging, with clues that reveal more about both V.F.D. and the childrens parents. In fact the only negative in this ninth part of the series is that you'll have to wait for the tenth book before you get any resolution. It's also interesting to note that each subsequent volume gets longer and longer, but I find myself reading them faster and faster. The mystery is starting to unravel!

Summary: READ THIS BOOK!!!!
Review: i think i'm a snicketphile, i loved this book! Lemony Snicket starts out with the perfect setting and keeps the story intersting until the end where he leaves off with a heart-stopping finish. i read this book in one hour! of course i recommend it. If you have not read the books before i'm not sure if it will make sense to you

Summary: getting boring
Review: I waited a long time for this book to come out and I even spent a few weeks rereading the rest of the series just so I could fully understand everything that would go on in the book and hopefully solve some of the mysteries. But I am sad to say that all that time I spent preparing for this book is hopelessly lost. I had my hopes up that Lemony Snicket might finaly be able to tie up some of the loose ends having to do with the Baudelaire parents, VFD, and Jacqes Snicket. Although this was a good book, I just don't think it was up to Lemony Snicket's standard. It seemed like there weren't enough major events or findings in the story to make it a good book (it gave me the impression that maybe this book was created as a transition from Book 8 to Book 10). I personaly, am getting bored with waiting to find out about the mysteries. Hopefully we will find out some more imformation in The Slipery Slope, or maybe Lemony Snicket won't be getting as many eager return readers.

Summary: Perfect Books
Review: My 10 1/2 year old nephew was never into reading until someone recommended the Lemony Snicket series. I bought him the first 3 and it has changed his thinking about reading. He has now read them all and enjoyed everyone of them. I highly recommend these books to kids in this age group.

Summary: Only four more to go, and the stakes keep getting higher!
Review: Second only to the Harry Potter books, "A Series of Unfortunate Events" is the best children's/adult series I have read in some time. To say these books are only for kids is the same as saying Bugs Bunny cartoons are only for kids - BULL!

"The Carnivorous Carnival" is Book the Ninth in the proposed 13-book series - in this one, we re-join Violet, Klaus, and baby Sunny Beaudelaire in the trunk of Count Olaf's long, sinister black getaway car; the orphans hid there at the end of "The Hostile Hospital" as their only means of escape, since everyone is looking for them after the local paper, "The Daily Punctilio," branded them murderers of Count Omar - who, in reality, is Count Olaf, and he is very much alive.

Count Olaf drives his troupe of theater performers/criminals way out to the hinterlands, to the Caligari Carnival. There they greet Madame Lulu, the owner of the carnival and a personal friend of Count Olaf. At their first opportunity, the children escape the trunk of the car - but where to go, now that they are stuck way out in the hinterlands, with everyone thinking they are murderers?

Easy - they adapt Count Olaf's methods of trickery and disguise. In each previous book, Count Olaf has found the orphans in their newest home and, in disguise, plots to get his hands on them and their fortune. Now it's the Beaudelaire siblings' turn - using stuff found in the count's own disguise kit, the children dress themselves up as freaks and actually join the carnival with Violet and Klaus as the two-headed freak Beverly/Elliot, and Sunny donning an old beard Olaf wore from a previous book and becoming Chabo the Wolf Baby. When they join the contortionist, hunchback, and ambidextrous man in the freak show at Madame Lulu's House of Freaks, right under Count Olaf's nose, the orphans think they will finally be able to learn the secrets of V.F.D. and whether one of their parents really may have survived the fire that had made them orphans in the first place.

But everything is not what it seems at Caligari Carnival, and soon the Beaudelaire's are in more trouble than ever before. After eight books of Olaf in disguise trying to steal the Beaudelaire children (and their fortune), it was a great twist to find the children in diguise trying to thwart Olaf's latest scheme! Really, these books are THE BOMB, funny and exciting and real page-turners for anyone of any age. With each book we feel we are closer to finding out all the secrets hinted at, but then something happens to tease our curiosity even more, making us wait breathlessly for the next installment. I thought "The Hostile Hospital" ended on a cliffhanger, that was NOTHING compared to "The Carnivorous Carnival," and with 4 more books to go (there will be 13 total, as there are 13 chapters in each book chronicling the sad, unlucky lives of these unfortunate orphans), Lemony Snicket will surely drive us readers crazy by the end with our unanswered questions about V.F.D., Beatrice, the possible survival of one of the Beaudelaire parents, what the eye tattoos mean, and if Count Olaf will ever get his just desserts. Heartily recommended but you have to start with Book One and read them in order, or they won't make sense. An incredible series for ALL ages, and I eagerly await "The Slippery Slope"!!

Summary: Buy This Book and Read it Quick!
Review: Fantastic!
Scary!
Great Book!
You should definetly read this book because it is the best book in the series. Violet Claus and Sunny make themselves freaks and work in the house of Freaks but get paid nothing. Then Count Olaf comes up with a great idea. This idea has something to do with Violet, Claus or Sunny seeing the Belly of the Beast. Will the fortune be kept safe or will this book end with an unfortunate, sad ending? This book is definetly worth your time and effort in reading it!
