Summary: Not Alex Cross, but WOW! You will love it!
Review: Patterson introduces us to a new series involving 4 women from San Fransisco who form a Murder Club to informally cut through the red tape to solve heinous crimes. First we meet Lindsay, an investigator, Cindy is the reporter, Claire is the medical examiner, and Jill is the ADA. The crime that throws these women together is especially gruesome as it involves couples murdered on their wedding night, and as each couple is found, the situation becomes more desperate with pressure from above to find the killer. I don't want to give too much away, so I am highly recommending this book. It is a cut above his last novel and returns us to the Patterson we know. A truly fast paced novel, I didn't put it down until it was finished.Thanks for reading :) **Pandora

Summary: New characters, But same old Patterson
Review: First To Die, is a must read for all readers, especially readers who follow James Patterson. This book has all the twists and turns, a person can handle. James developed the main charatcer Lindsay Boxer, very well, you felt what she felt. Also the supporting cast were developed well and all had direct ties with Lindsay. I couldn't put this book down, can't wait for the next one in this new series of thrillers.

Review: When at his best, noone packs a mystery curveball like James Patterson. Having read and loved all of his Alex Cross novels I ventured into new territory with 1ST TO DIE and read this great thriller in a flash. Lindsay Boxer is a top notch female detective with San Francisco Homicide. Her skills look like they may have met their match when a newlywed couple is savagely defiled and murdered on the night of their wedding. At the same time she learns that an illness may cut her down in her prime. The killing becomes a series and Lindsay isnt to proud to enlist the aid of some old and new friends. Off duty she collaberates with the chief medical examiner, the assistant D.A., and a hot shot reporter, all of whom happen to be women. When they put their heads together they come up with a sure fire suspect who should be a slam dunk conviction.....or is it? As always Patterson keeps you guessing, this time right up to the very end. There are no shortage of surprises. The nature of the prime suspect gives you an insight into the diabolical imagination that Patterson must have.....we are talking a great thriller with Stephen King chills. Most of the characters are strong and Patterson doesnt sway off course too much with the romantic and illness subplots. The book not only holds your attention but it demands that you not put the book down because you are convinced that every sentence has the possibility of an explosive twist. A solid five star read and a great book for Patterson fans and any fan of good thrilling fiction.

Summary: Good read for an airplane ride
Review: Although the book is 432 pages, many pages aren't full. Chapters (more than 100) are typically 2-3 pages long leaving lots of empty space. The book reads easily and has a nice rhythmn. It's a good story -- not great, but entertaining. It was worth the money.

Summary: One twist too many
Review: I enjoyed reading James Patterson's new novel until I got to the very end. The last chapter felt so completely rushed and thrown together for one more "twist", that I forget the book was already a good read. It really didn't need that last turn of events. This was a good, fast-paced thriller, introducing wonderful new characters. But when I read the last chapter, I had to look at the cover to make sure I wasn't reading a Patricia Cornwell novel. I'm sure others will love the ending, I've just seen it too many times before. Also, without giving too much away, Patterson seems to be getting rid of certain major/minor characters with ease, these days. While in "Roses are Red" I thought it worked well, in this case I thought it was a shame. This particular character would've added a great dimension to this new cast and series.

Summary: Great New Series
Review: Having been a fan of James Patterson for years, I was anxious to read this new book. Actually, I was a bit concerned that it was published so close on the heels of Roses are Red. I was not disappointed. I read this book in less than 24 hours. Only put it down when I was forced to. I had been disappointed in some of Patterson's recent books, particularly Cradle will Fall, and was worried that he was losing his edge. I am so glad he's back on track and hopes he continues his new female characters. The twists in this plot reminded me a bit of Jeffery Deaver without as much horror.

Review: "1st To Die" is the first in a new series from James Patterson. The characters are phenomenal, the plot is intriguing, and there is fast-paced suspense everywhere. Brides and grooms are getting murdered on their wedding day around the San Francisco area and Inspector Lindsay Boxer is on the case. Lindsey, Claire (the medical examiner), Cindy (an investigative reporter), and Jill (a district attorney), form the Women's Murder Club. Along with their current jobs, they are all on the case of the bride-groom murders. Even though Alex Cross is not in this novel the suspense and action is just as good or better than the novels featuring him. This book is totally worth the money! The ending of this book will shock you totally, just like "Roses Are Red" did. I can't wait for his next women's mystery novel, "2nd Chance" to come out next year!

Review: I really don't think it matters if its from the female perspective, or the male perspective, but to tell you the truth, this book was really good. I couldn't put it down. Inspector Lindsay Boxer is a good character (she's no Alex Cross, but she's good enough). His chapters are still short, but I don't really care anymore. However this book is not as good as Along came a Spider. Its still one of his better books. As we know of now, he is at work on the next book in this serious AND at work on another Alex Cross Novel (which is called VIOLETS ARE BLUE) James Patterson has had some pretty bad books (like CRADLE and ALL for example) and some really good books (such as KISS THE GIRLS and ALONG CAME A SPIDER.) This book was hard for me to put down, but I gaurantee you, that some of the scenes aren't needed at all. The character build up is pretty good, and the ending is a pretty good one. I'd recomend this book, but If your a HUGE Alex Cross reader, then maybe you're not ready for Lindsay Boxer yet.
