Rating: Summary: Well worth the time and money Review: I first heard about the 7 Habits a couple of years ago, but didn't think it would apply to me. Recently I attended a management seminar, where the instructor couldn't say enough good things about the book. I finally realized that if I wanted my life to improve I had to do it for myself. I bought this book and was impressed. I can't say that there were earth-shattering changes in my life, but I do see subtle changes in the way I see the world after reading it once. I'm sure that as I go through it again and work on some of the exercises, I will be able to improve myself even more. Much of what is discussed is obvious, but the illustrations and examples show how to better incorporate these concepts into your life. It might seem obvious to live according to your principles, but how many of us have gotten distracted by our jobs, and realized much later that we're neglecting what's really important? If you are hesitant about actually buying the book, I recommend checking it out of the library or borrowing it from a friend first.
Rating: Summary: How many books can this guy write about the obvious? Review: I can't believe the reviews for this book. I wasn't presented with anything new or thought-provoking. The only thing I can assume is that those who find this book to be thoughtful must live very sheltered lives!
Rating: Summary: December 2, 1998...Handbook of a Lifetime Review: A book which changes you inside and outside. He breaks the process of personal change into smaller parts. He explains in enriched details and examples which helps you along in powerful lessons. In my opinion, his comparison with the Bible and his theory fits like a hand and glove. Excellent and a definite winner.
Rating: Summary: Unparalled in all extra-biblical literaturedom Review: My reading experience with this book has brought the settled conviction that it is the most profound book - apart from the Bible itself - that I have ever encountered. Don't make the mistake of lumping this book in with all the other Success /Get-your-life-straightened-out literature filling today's book store shelves. This one is not in a league of its own, it is in a universe of its own.
Rating: Summary: great personal leadership book! Review: If you want to improve your self, your family life, your work life, or your leadership style, take a look at this book! Guaranteed success lies in this book, should each suggestion be followed.
Rating: Summary: Excellent introduction to principled-living Review: Although the slight bias from his religious upbringing leads some particulars into meaninglessness (if you define your self on the basis of principles, the difference between being principle-centered and being self-centered literally disappears), it otherwise excels at helping us get back on the track we left upon beginning the War Between the States. To say civil war is to corrupt the meaning of both civility and war.
Rating: Summary: Magnificent Book I Ever Read Of Self-Development Review: First I read my friend's copy of this Book, then re-read it making notes of every chapter in my note-book, and at last I bought it! Almost two years passed, but I am not sorry of having and using it. It helps me a lot to change my personality and the world around as well as Richard Bach's books. Thank you, Mr. Covey!
Rating: Summary: Excellent and time for self introspection Review: Covey's presentation skills and his power to articulate and comprehend are excellent. The subject areas presented by him may seem obvious, but the reality is that they are not so obvious. It gives us a good opportunity to understand where we stand and what we need to do in order to achieve our goals in professional and personal lives. We need to understand that we have come into this world with a purpose and Covey's thought provoking ideas can bring you closer to that purpose.
Rating: Summary: When it's great, you're going to have people argue with you Review: A wonderful book that I felt I needed to read because of the 60+ reviews! Good reviews, bad reviews--read it for yourself. Remember, anything that is great is always going to have those who just can't grasp the idea, they are either to hard headed to think that they need to change or they are to stupid to know the difference. Always remember that everyone has room for improvement. If you seriously want to humble yourself and take a deep look at what's inside and improve it then this book is for you. If you want a quick fix-me-up go somewhere else. I have worked through depression several times since high school--all because I've never learned what my priorities really are. Now that I know what things I need, I haven't had any set backs, just breaking new ground and reaping the rewards. But the only way to find out if the book is worth putting on your shelf is to read it for yourself. Don't cheat yourself, sit down and answer all the questions in the book.
Rating: Summary: This book can change your life... Review: I read this book in 1990. I have applied its principles for the past eight years. Through this application, I have developed stronger interpersonal relationships, and have reaped huge rewards. Yes, these may be obvious principles, but Covey presents them in a way that is easy to internalize. Buy it now. Read it. Apply it. Change your life.
