Summary: It prompted me to reread Genisus
Review: 20 minutes into the book the characters were well established and I was hooked. It was a wonderful story. And any book that can prompt an individual to read the Bible, in this case Genisus, is GREAT.

Summary: What can I say?
Review: This book is a wonderful read for women of all ages. It is an exciting and inspirational adventure of a woman who is just briefly mentioned in the bible. I recommend it for book clubs, as it can serve as a great discussion piece. I got absorbed into her world and found that it was hard to put down. It is easy to get attached to her story and really feel for her when life happens to her. A must read!

Summary: Phenomenal Book
Review: I was told about "The Red Tent" by a friend who just raved about the book. When I picked it up, I was immediately drawn into the story. Diamant is a fantastic writer, crafting every sentance in such a way that the story flows along smoothly in a beautiful prose so seldom seen in today's literature. I also loved the concept of telling a story of what could have been, and doing so in the first person. Absolutely as engaging as any actual memoir, "The Red Tent" is a must read.

Summary: Is it real?
Review: "The Red Tent" presented a world that is not described in the Bible. A real one just the same. Even though the story would be hard to prove against the facts of the Bible, it gave the reader a chance to see how the family unit was handled and cared for in that time and place. As a women I found the story very nurturing. It is amazing how women have cared for other women through the centuries.

Summary: Surprised
Review: Didn't think I would like this book because of the religious aspect. However, I couldn't put it down once I started it. Excellent read. Highly recommend.

Summary: FABULOUS READ FOR EVERY WOMAN!
Review: I read this powerful book during LONG nursing sessions with my newborn daughter, and loved every minute of the story. It was a pleasure to read, and felt very appropriate to be doing so while recovering from my own birth experieince, and beginning new motherhood. I plan to keep a copy so I can give it to my daughter to read when she is old enough. It made me really connect to myself as a woman all over again! Bravo Anita!

Summary: Simply Fantastic!
Review: This was the first book that has not disappointed me in a very long time. I was worried that the biblical setting would be boring but boy was I wrong. It was full of scandal, love, family, heartbreak and drama. It ended leaving nothing unsaid like so many other books. The portrayal of a strong, brazen woman was inspiring and made me grateful for my modern day luxuries. The readers who are hung up on the fact that this book does not follow bible facts are missing the point of the story. Diamante never claims to stick to the facts but instead, tells an interesting story of a strong woman we all can relate to despite the time gap. Every woman should read this!

Summary: Excellent:: we lost something when we took down the red tent
Review: I loved this book! It took an all but forgotten character from the bible, and made her real. Better still, it made the time in which she (allegedly) lived real.

I love the red tent -- the concept. I wish there were a red tent for me to go into once a month. The opportunity for connection and rest is one all too many of us lack. --

Summary: Strength, myth, and women
Review: This book is an incredible reweaving of a biblical myth. Although it is fiction and some dislike facts being changed, they benefit the story that is being told. It offers a wonderful perspective. As a pagan woman I was engrossed from start to finish. I picked it up and did not put it down once until I finished it. I thought this story was brilliant and masterfully told. Highly recommended!!!

Summary: INSULT TO INJURY
Review: I cannot even begin to list all the errors this books is filled with that insult and malign the honest, Godly people discussed in this book! I think it is a supreme insult to women for the cover of the book to suggest that, "...this is how a woman would have written the Bible," because it is SO full of errors. First of all, Sarai (Sarah), Rebecca,Rachel, Leah --- and probably most of the women in this book worshipped the GOD (check the Bible yourself!), not goddesses. It was Laban that tricked Josheph into marrying Leah, and he noticed the first day, not the seventh. Jacob also served Laban 7 years for each wife, not months as the book suggests. The fact is, Rachel WAS loved MORE than Leah, that is why God granted Leah more children, because she was NOT loved. And the order of children is all wrong, Jacob did not have 2 sets of twins. The story of Dinah's rape borders on accurate, but the injustice that was incurred by her and her family was grossly overlooked for the romance effect, I guess??? One of the worst errors in the book is the fact that the author actually tries to portray Joseph, a very honest and Godly man, first as an adulterer and later as a homosexual. How on earth did she come up with that one,I will never know?? It plainly states in the Bible that Joseph refused Potifar's wife because she was married. She hit on him! Please, if you are truly interested in learning about the people, including the women, of the Bible, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK. IT IS FULL OF TRASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Bible is much more informative and best of all, without error :)!!! If you do decide to get this book, check the facts against your Bible so that you do know what is truth and what is not.
