Rating: Summary: POORLY WRITTEN AND LACKING IN LOGIC Review: If this is an example of conservative intelligensia, then it is no wonder that the movement is in serious trouble. Sadly, too many ...have blindly accepted footnotes as an alleged example of thorough research and alleged documentation to substantiate the poor arguments made in this poorly written novel...
Rating: Summary: Liberals. Review: This is a powerful and articulate account of the 'War' being waged by the Left against the very values this Nation was founded upon! Ann has written a timely, provocative and sometimes humorous indictment against the purveyors of a lifestyle that reached its height during the Clinton Era. A must read for any American concerned about the future of the Republic and freedom as we know it!
Rating: Summary: coulter doesn't know the facts...even about conservatives Review: In her bombastic, shrill Slander, Ann Coulter presents a black and white world. No gray areas for Coulter. Liberal=bad, conservative=good. Reading her defense of Fox (who must pay her well) and her attacks on all things liberal is a tiring affair. She accuses liberals of name calling and juvenile tactics. Has she ever read Mark Steyn's mean-spirited columns in the National Review? Wasn't it Rush Limbaugh who once said "there's a new dog in the White House" and then held up a picture of Chelsea Clinton, then just a kid, on his telecast? Maybe Ann should pop in a video of the 1992 Republican National Convention, fast forward to Pat Buchanan's homophobic, hate-filled speech. Will she then understand why liberals view conservatives as name callers? Hey Ann, separation of church and state is what this country was founded on: live with it. And one last question for Coulter. Without liberals paving the way for women's rights throughout the 1900s, would Coulter now be enjoying her current position? Yes, some things liberals do are nutty. What about conservatives? What about Ashcroft's attack on civil liberties? But Coulter doesn't have the guts or the thing Christians call patience to see both sides of the issues. Her book Slander could be read both ways: she slanders liberals in this book.
Rating: Summary: Poorly Written Review: This book could have been written by PT Barnum himself. Don't be fooled by the title. This is a woman who is trying to cash in on fear.
Rating: Summary: No wonder liberals are going bonkers! Review: The amount of anger, hate and name-calling coming from the "left-wing" in America proves the point that Ann Coulter makes in her book. Liberals hate the truth, and their only way to respond to it is through attacking the messenger, rather than presenting a well-thoughtout argument on issues and ideas. Ann's book is excellent! It is well-documented, and like the lawyer she is, presents her case in a clear, concise and unarguable manner. My only suggestion is, if you already are aware of the bias of the "left," read this book only in small doses because it will make you angrier than you already are!
Rating: Summary: More Republican Whining Review: I guess if the Republicans didn't have so much to answer for, they wouldn't have to publish this kind of tripe. Please. As an Independent, no, the Democrats have not been lying about everything for the past half decade. Save your money for something without the right-wing bias.
Rating: Summary: ann-dy kaufman? Review: How you feel about Coulter's book depends on how you see Coulter. Either she's 1). a hypocritical harpie totally incapable of seeing subtleties or nuance, totally humorless, totally unable to see the disconnect between writing a book called "Slander" in which she calls Katie Couric an "affable Eva Braun" (what exactly does that mean anyway?)....OR she's 2) A brilliant performance artist who's been doing an Andy Kaufman-esque act for the last 10 years, never letting the character slip for a second- kind of a political Tony Clifton. Her recent TV appearances on Today, Hardball, and Crossfire almost have me convinced of this- maybe Andy really is still alive! Either way, she's the liberals' best friend, making extreme conservatives look ridiculous. No one with a brain on either side of the political spectrum could possibly take her or this book seriously.
Rating: Summary: Liberals, YOU CAN'T HANDLE IT!!!!!!!! Review: It is GREAT! Ann combats the Libs with VERIFIABLE and UNDENIABLE FACTS and WIT! The reader needs a fair understanding of National Politics to get full understanding and enjoyment. However, the novice will still get plenty from this book. It is worth the read unless you are a liberal than this book will make you mad because of how well researched and written it TRULY is!
Rating: Summary: focused and factual Review: It is pretty easy to find partisan opinions, but SLANDER presents a focused analysis that is backed up by facts. To a degree, one may judge conservative writings by how offended liberals become upon exposure. This is a doozey. I particularly like the way many attack her based on her looks. Nothing announces an "empty gun" in quite the same way as a pathetic personal attack. When you have nothing factual to say, one's choices are limited.
Rating: Summary: Not an interesting or a well writen book...I'm sorry. Review: The right wing fans of Ms. Coulter seem to be busy bees trying to defend this barely readable book. (I bought it out of sincere interest, and continued to plow through the nonsense considering it as a comedy script). Now, you could dismiss me as 1. a "left wing nut" which I am not, or 2. the biased "liberal" ( always Ms. Coulters explanation when the truth hurts) or 3. "never read the book" (untrue)... but in the end, the reality stands: this book is quite boring. I read it throught to the end rather quickly, trying to understand what her point was in writing such a laughable book...but in these conservative times, ANYONE can write a book slaming so-called liberals and make money. Don't make the same mistake I did in thinking you would get a reasoned "Pat Buchanan" intellectual argument ( even though I tend to disagree with him). With Ms. Coulter, we are dealing with a "lightweight". Be forewarned...don't waste money on this one.
