Summary: Author has potential. 3 1/2 stars.
Review: This author has potential. I really liked the general idea and storyline of the book due to its creativity. The writing is a little forced and often not very smooth. I enojoyed this book better than some others in the chick-lit category as it was a little bit less predictable.

Summary: FABULOUS
Review: Cecelia Ahern has written a magnificent first novel. I'm only through a third of the book and love it so much! It's something I just can't put down and I've demanded three of my girlfriends to rush and buy it. Holly is a delightful character and Ahern has a wonderful cast of characters to compliment her and get her through her trials. PS I Love You, will surely be one of the best books of 2004. Buy it right now!

Summary: Not too bad.. but not good either
Review: was very excited when I bought this book and couldn't wait to get started. Within a couple of chapters I wanted to stop reading it. It was just too much work trying to get through this book. Repetitive, immature, and predictable were words used to describe "PS, I Love You" and it is dead on. Never seen so much of the word "sarcastically" used in one book or have the characters "roll their eyes." Experienced writers have a way of conveying their characters' feelings and emotions without having it thrown in your face so many, many times and clearly, an experienced writer, she is not!

Though shallow and corny at times, there were moments when I felt for Holly and wanted to cry with her - but other than that I felt it was just a big waste of my time.

Summary: Charming but predictable
Review: A good quick read full of likeable characters, it is none the less extremely predictable. I would recommend this book to you in paperback form. If you are looking for a more colorful characters along a similar theme, try "The Magician's Assistant" by Ann Patchett.

Summary: Good Beach Read
Review: I read this book while on vacation and found just what I wanted, a book to make me think about how precious life is, while not causing too much thought. It caused me to appreciate my husband more. While you can tell that the book is written by a young, unmarried woman she provides some depth to the joys and sorrows of loving another so deeply. If you are looking for divine inspiration, this book is not for you, but if you are looking for a lighter read with some depth-- then pick it up!

Summary: Loved it!
Review: I couldn't put this book down! I was crying one minute and laughing out loud the next. Being 31, married with two young children, it really makes me see things in a different light. I don't know if I could be as strong as Holly was. This was an awesome read. I highly recommend it.

Summary: P.S. This book is a disapointment
Review: I was looking very forward to reading this book, but within minutes of cracking it open I was disapointed. I found the plot to be shallow and cliched and the characters to be rather static and underdeveloped. Ahern has brought nothing new to "chick lit". If you are looking for a melodramatic fairy tale read this book, but if you are looking for depth, creativity, and genuine wit....you wont find it here.

Summary: An incredibly moving story
Review: I couldn't put this book down! It was a touching, yet very funny story. Throughout the hilarious moments with her girlfriends, you can still sense Holly's struggle with her grief. Cecelia Ahern describes the pain of losing a spouse so clearly, that I hugged my husband a little tighter than usual while reading it. The laughter through tears moments made this a wonderful book!

Summary: Cute, but otherwise predictable
Review: I bought this book because at the time I was in the mood for something sappy and girly. I read the reviews for the book and since they were so varied, I decided to give it a read. I must say, for this author's first ever book - it was a good start. But really the book was immature and predictable. It wasn't as sappy as it was transparent, and I don't think I would recommend this to anyone over the age of say, 23. I'm 25 and felt way too old reading it....which is confusing since the main character is supposed to be 30. Anyhow, in short - unless you prefer a very very light read which requires no thinking whatsoever (basically one that leaves your mind as soon as you but it down with no after effects)buy it. If not, then please skip it - there are better books out there.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: I'd recommend this one only if you are somehow inexplicably stuck with NOTHING else to read. I had such high hopes for this buzz book but after the first 50 pages or so I found I had to force myself to pick it up each day and trudge as many pages as I could stand. Honestly, there are just so many other wonderful novels out there -- chick-lit or otherwise. You're not missing anything here.
