Summary: The No Brain Zone
Review: How does someone who was once the host of the tabloid trash show "Inside Edition", become the new moral spokesMan for America. When host of this trash show Bill O'Reilly didn't seem to care about integrity and morals, but that's how he paid the bills then--capitalizing on the pain of others. But now that he is on another program he thinks he has the moral authority to tell everyone else how to live, conveinently forgetting he is nothing more than just another Jerry Springer retread. Maybe if you are an ignorant, narrow-minded hypocrite following such a buffoon is fine, although very dangwerous for the rest of us. Like Dr. (of what--eugenics) Laura, another right-wing fascist hypocrite who promulgates religious virtue, only after being rejected as a 2-bit pinup model, self-hatred, As well as the hatred of all that are not white, seems to be the real motive behind their illogical, narrowminded tyraids. The really tragic thing is that people seem to enjoy, even love this garbage, Hitler, Mussolini and Reagan had plenty of fans too! Maybe people are just buying this garbage because everyone else is, especially since intellectual independence has ceased to be celebrated as an important "American" quality-it is subversive and dangerous, O"Reilly and his ilk would tell you.
O"Reilly's closeminded, xenophobic spewings represent the epitome of the religious fanatic mentality where people do what they "beLIEve", as a means of showing everyone else how righteous-manifested through wealth--one is. The next time you drive by a church on sunday, for god's sake don't go in, and happen to get a glimpse of the carnivalesque spectacle of gross excess, you will know what I mean. For just as religion represents nothing more than a perverse fashion show for many, the example offers a good explanation as to why seemingly intelligent people (lets give them the benefit of the doubt) take this garbage seriously. And unfortunately, if you are one of these mindless drones, that fact speaks more about your own intelligence and lack of personal responsibility than it does anything that one may claim to believe or really care about. Repeat after me: "(with blank eyes and restive mind) "god bless amerika, god bless George Bush, god bless our wars, god bless the generous corporations, and god bless Bill O"Reilly." Amen!

Summary: More of what you already knew
Review: Even if you had never seen his TV program, The O'Reilly Factor, this book would not reveal anything you didn't already know about a) the topics; b) the subjects; c) O'Reilly's viewpoints. The best thing I can say about this book is that it is short. Each chapter is designed to be read in bite-sized portions. But O'Reilly discredits the topics, his subjects and even himself by limiting the discussions to interview excerpts. He then intersperses them with his own views, most of which repeat themselves after a few chapters. He reveals nothing new about any topic, thus providing no substance or additional sources to back up his points. His show may be entertaining, because there is an element of drama or emotion that emerges in a televised sparring match. But without it, the material in print comes across in its pure and naked form, which is much ado about nothing.

Summary: Will get you hooked on his TV show
Review: This book is an excellent primer to get you up to speed on just exactly who Bill O'Reilly is and what he stands for. His philosophy, as he sets forward in his book, is refreshingly simple - honesty and honor rule the day. In today's world of big money, disingenuous politicians, and a general corruption that pervades American society, O'Reilly clearly comes across as the underdog. Each chapter presents him mixing it up with some big names in an invigorative and entertaining fashion. Of course because it's his own book, he has the liberty of painting himself in the best possible light. But you'll soon find yourself tuning in day after day to the Fox News channel to witness firsthand O'Reilley's indelible style as he trades blows with those brave enough to enter his zone.

Summary: Profiles In Feistiness
Review: Bill O'Reilly is a feisty, often tactless, hard-nosed news analyst for the Fox News Channel. His program, "the O'Reilly Factor" has been nicknamed "the No Spin Zone" by Fox News. That's because avoiding the issue, evading questions, and tap-dancing around embarrassing controversies are just not allowed.

In "The No Spin Zone" O'Reilly puts some of his most interesting debates into print, along with an introduction and a conclusion to put the piece into perspective.

Because of O'Reilly's direct style and no-nonsense approach, some controversial figures persistently avoid his invitations to debate issues. Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, and Jesse Jackson are among the no-shows, but it hasn't spared them their time on the O'Reilly Factor - they just weren't present, by their own choice, to defend themselves. Other courageous souls who did brave O'Reilly's potentially scathing scrutiny include Susan Sarandon, Al Sharpton, George W. Bush and Dan Rather. Rather's interview is particularly interesting in light of Bernard Goldberg's book, "Bias," in which Rather and CBS are criticized for slanting the news. Rather's interview happened before "Bias" was published, yet it is clear Rather was already feeling defensive about his perceived biases.

If you like hearty political debate and a full and often heated airing of the issues, this book's for you.

Summary: Don't Know Bill O'Reilly? Then Treat Yourself To This Book
Review: Mr. O'Reilly has done it again. He has written a very good book on a very important topic. He gives us a synopsis of sixteen different interviews he has done over the years of "The O'Reilly Factor."

This book will probably appeal much more to people who don't have the opportunity to watch Fox News which is only available on some cable networks and satellite dishes. Regular viewers have most likely seen the majority of these interviews and already know most of what is in the book.

If you do not know or have not seen Bill O'Reilly, buy this book; and better yet start watching "The Factor." If you have an open mind, you will really enjoy this no-holds barred show. After watching him for a while, you will understand just how pathetic the mainstream media really is. Their bias and censorship will drive you to Mr. O'Reilly in particular and Fox News in general.

Some of the included interviews are with:

Floyd Abrams, First Amendment attorney

Dr. Jocelyn Elders, former surgeon general of the United States

Steve Allen, comedian and activist

Dr. Laura Schlessinger

Susan Sarandon, actress and activist

Alfred Charles Sharpton, Jr.

Jesse Jackson and his supporters

James Carville, former Clinton campaign manager

George W. Bush, president of the United States

Mario Cuomo, former governor of New York, and David Walker, comptroller of the United States and head of the Government Accounting Office

John McCain, senator from Arizona; Barry McCaffrey, former drug czar; and Ted Demme, Hollywood director

Dan Rather, CBS News anchorman

Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs

Summary: Wake up America!
Review: I have to advise reading this book to everyone I know. Bill O'Reilly tells the truth! And that is sooo rare in this time of world where we are covered in lies.
This book tells you the truth and is based on the FACTS!

I found this book eye-opening and funny.
In the end, you will have to decide for yourself but I dont think you would be dissapointed in buying this book.

Summary: Only for the dim-witted and gullible
Review: The more intelligent or educated you are, the less you'll like it. O'Reilly is the Jerry Springer of political commentators (imagine the same audience but older). It's all about volume and attitude and less about critically analyzing the subject matter.

O'Reilly has won over the less-educated, the gullible and dim-witted with his "I'm a working class" guy line of garbage. Actually O'Reilly's father was an accountant for a corporation. Not exactly working class. His neighborhood was a middle-class one NEXT to a working class neighborhood.

Bill's real "working class" neighbors were drafted in the military & went to Vietnam. But, just like Lott, Cheney, Armey, Limbaugh, Buchanon and the other "chicken-hawks" of the right, this son-of-a-corporation-accountant took the cowards way with a college draft deferment. He avoided the military like the plague and left for Oxford University (yes just like the "other" Bill).

But no matter, facts are funny things that only get in the way for Bill and his followers. And this is typical of the former "Inside Edition" lack-of-journalistic-integrity opportunist.

The Joe McCarthy of the new decade. His popularity only shows the low level of critical thinking that abounds in our country today. What an indictment on our educational system.

Strictly for the trailer-park/Ross Perot/thinking-makes-my-brain-hurt crowd.

Summary: Not bad but left me wanting more
Review: I like Bill O'Reilly, and I liked his first book, so I thought I'd really like the second book. I did end up liking it, but it really left a lot to be desired.

First, the book is painfully thin. Most of the book is just a rehash of interviews from his show. There are some very interesting portions, such as his investigations and learning about those who refuse to come on his show. By the same token, it was interesting to find out who surprisingly would show up in the No Spin Zone.

This book really revealed nothing new to me about where he stands on the issues. His first book gave me a lot of background on where he came from and his experiences in the business, and that was great. It helped me understand where he's coming from on his topics, and that just helps me respect him more. But I felt like this book was just a lot of rambling on about specific topics without a lot of depth.

Still worth your while to read, but Mr. O'Reilly, I'd love to see a more indepth look at the No Spin Zone!

Summary: Classic O'Reilly
Review: Have been watching O'Reilly for a couple of years now, and appreciate his direct, no nonsense style, and his ruthless tenacity in pursuing under reported but important issues and people.

All of that is present in spades in this book.... He writes with the same staccato style he uses on his program, wherein lies my criticism. I would rate the book at five stars, but much of the book is transcriptions of his TV show (which I have already seen) and I was hoping for more new information and insights. Good reading for O'Reilly neophytes or if to get a different view of the people and issues he takes on.
