Rating: Summary: Even Better Than His Last Bestseller! Review: This is a great book - well-written, well-paced, entertaining, thoughtful, and thought-provoking. I enjoyed it even more than "The O'Reilly Factor" because it hones in so well on public policy issues of continuing national significance, though the two books together provide a more comprehensive view of the man and his ideas. The book's approach - using guest comments as a launching pad - perfectly fits O'Reilly and the impatient reader, and looks as if it can easily be the structure for many a future O'Reilly non-fiction book. If there's any justice in the world, "No-Spin Zone" will do even better in the marketplace than "The O'Reilly Factor."
Rating: Summary: O'Reilly cuts through the crap. Review: Why the title of my review? Because O'Reilly is one of the best when it comes to needling someone and getting the real story. In this case, O'Reilly establishes the parameters of a "zone" where lies, spin, and misdirection are unallowed ("lies are rejected and equivocations are mocked"). .... Professionally however, I applaud his candor and efforts to seek the truth. ....)Some of the more interesting pieces in this book involve Dr. Laura (a great piece if you're not a Dr. Laura fan), P. Diddy (the artist formerly known as Sean Combs and Puff Daddy on why the name changes and the current state of rap music), and former First Lady and current NY Senator Hillary Clinton (I'll save the subject matter for your read!). O'Reilly cuts these folks very little slack but, by so doing, creates a poignant picture of why, how, who, etc. "The No-Spin Zone" truly zaps the spin associated with so many political or celebrity interviews. Barbara Walters this ain't. But if you're looking for a straight-up, no-holds-barred look into many of our current public figures, their thoughts and why they do the things they do, read this book. Again, you have to admire O'Reilly for achieving what so many can't....a true insight into the questions we want answered.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining knowledge, what could be better? Review: If your time is limited, and you don't get much of a chance to follow current events, politics and public opinion, read this book. This is a 'pithy' quick-read crash course on what's going on, with debates from both side of the fence. Guaranteed to help you decide where you stand on many issues with excellently phrased questions and precise and clear answers (at least from Mr. O'Reilly!). Worth every penny, and every detailed paragraph. Well Done, Mr. O'Reilly!!!
Rating: Summary: Good book with some strong opinions Review: O'Reilly has views on both sides and the most interesting of which is the no spin zone factor.the author gave most of the opnions on moral and social issues. The Hillary chapter is very HILARIOUS which shows the indepth search for the truth for the american people. OReilly talks truth from the truth and for the truth.
Rating: Summary: O'Reilly interviews plus background detail Review: Mr. O'Reilly is even more direct and to the point on paper. He gives a lot of background and detail on his interviews from his cable TV show. The interview selections are just enough to get the feel for his one-on-one style, but it is not just a replay of his TV show: the background of the interviewees is enhanced by showing how both parties got "there." He has a sense of humor throughout that keeps what are very serious issues in America digestable while keeping them in perspective.
Rating: Summary: "I'll give you the last word" Review: Another great book for "Mr O". He takes on the issues. Bill vs. everyone. From taxes to the death penalty. People either hate him or love him but no matter how you feel about him he does open our eyes to ways in America that have changed for good and lots of times bad. He challenges the powerful and famous to heated debates on all the issues. His common sense ideals and quick witted remarks make this a enjoyable read for all. His consistant call for all to be responsible for their action, especially our political leaders is refreshing in this day in age when to many Americans turn the other cheek. This book will make you mad and give you an ocassional laugh. Pass it on to your kids after you read it, they will love it.
Rating: Summary: Not a home run. Review: O'Reilly listeners will find a re-hash of O'Reilly broadcasts and interviews. As usual Bill is right to the point and most Americans will agree with his views. It is good reading for young people as it gives them a foundation to develop a sensible thought process. We need voices of reason ,and to that purpose NO SPIN ZONE hits the mark. His previous book- Good,Bad and Ridiculous in America- was a home run. No Spin Zone is a double down the left field line.
Rating: Summary: HAVING THE LIBERTY TO TALK AND DEBATE! Review: More from Bill O'Reilly. By sharing his opinions and interviews with a varied collection of noted public figures, entertainers, politicians, he continues to demonstrate that among the most cherished freedoms in America is the liberty to talk and to debate among ourselves. With candor, and an almost merciless barrage of questions, he presses his guests for truth on controversial issues. Bianca Jagger, Senator John McCain, Dr. Laura, Sean Combs, rap music, the death penalty, working moms, the war on drugs, just to mention a few, are placed under Mr O'Reilly's relentless magnifying glass. You may cringe for his guests, but you will appreciate his pursuit of accurate information. Lies, deceit and rationalizations are rejected. You may not agree with him about everything; I didn't. Yet, I certainly applaud his efforts to revive the use of common sense and decency.Communication, discussion, evaluations based on facts and evidence are indeed stepping stones to truth. I liked this book. Explosive, challenging, startling, occasionally whimsical, and perpetually thought-provoking.
Rating: Summary: The Zone - It's not a place, but a way of thinking Review: O'Reilly has done it again; instead of setting up a practical guide for living your life, this time he's outlined a practical guide to thinking your way through your life. While presenting his opinions on all of the forbidden topics of the day, he's created a road-map to thinking outside the box. He rounds out his book with a challenge to all of the readers... create your own No Spin Zone. A place where you hash out the details of the issues affecting your life to determine what is correct, while always keeping an eye out for the proof that your way of thinking might be wrong. If you're a tow-the-line 'ist' or 'ive' of any persuasion, pass on this book. However, if you have an independent streak and want to make up your own mind, but are looking for some guidance down that obscure path towards freedom from 'spin', this is the book you've been seeking.
Rating: Summary: Touches on many important social ills. Review: After reading "Those Who Tresspass" and "The O'Reilly Factor" I knew I had to read this book. As expected, this book lives up to the great work expected from Mr O'Reilly. Its consisely written chapters keep you interested, and seem to build in intensity as the book progresses. The book is written is such a way that you do not have to read cover to cover, but you can if you wish, skip around to different chapters as your interests change; Each chapter is almost like a small social commentary all by itself. Whether you agree with Bill or noy, I'm sure you'll find this book very interesting. Though slightly skewed to his viewpoint, he sill manages to point out good points of the opposing view, and lets you make up your own mind. A definate must read for Bill O'Reilly Fans.
