Rating: Summary: Superb Review: I enjoyed this Alex Cross as well as the first book to this series. I can hardly wait for the next Alex Cross book to see what happens with Christina.
Rating: Summary: full of suspense Review: I finished Roses are Red in a weekend, and I'm pre-ordering Violets are Blue. Patterson's Alex Cross series is great. This book is full of suspense, and again in the tradition, an unexpected villian. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, there were several similarities to "Along Came A Spider". I enjoyed this novel much more than "Cradle and All", and I can't wait to continue the adventure with "Violets are Blue" Great Job!!!
Rating: Summary: Bogus ending Review: While I generally enjoy Patterson, Roses are Red was disappointing. While a twist at the end is expected, Patterson really cheats the reader. As there are people who may read reviews prior to buying the book, I won't write more. The book was written on par with other Patterson novels and other than the disappointing ending it was a decent read and what I've come to expect from him.
Rating: Summary: Roses Are indeed Red Review: This is yet another wonderful novel from the mind of the ever-creative, James Patterson. Full of twists and turns, this novel never lets the reader rest. It's hard to put it down from beginning to end, it is a sprint and a marathon all at once.
Rating: Summary: It was good until the very end... Review: This book kept me on the edge of my seat! It was such a thrill ride and could hardly wait for the end! But when I did get to the end of the book...I realized that maybe I could've waited until the end. Fans of the Alex Cross series will love this book, and while the end was disapointing, you'll want more. (Violets Are Blue is almost here so just wait a few more weeks longer!) I believe that out of all the books in the Alex Cross series this would probably make one of the best movies. Let me start off by saying that this was a thrill ride to remember. While I think that JACK & JILL was the best Alex Cross novel, this one was more complex and interesting. The idea of the Mastermind was great; however, I began to miss the two killers in one book...(its called formula and it worked for a while until POP GOES THE WEASAL) not to mention that I missed John Sampson. Out of all the characters in the series I can't believe (after he made TONS appearances in the last 5 books), that Patterson forgot to mention John Sampson! Man Mountain! He didn't appear much at all. After reading the past few books, I began to notice another thing about this one. The characters...seemed well, different somehow. Alex Cross, who I know is smart, seemed to know just about EVERYTHING! While he's smart, I don't think that he's perfect! As mentioned earlier John made almost no appearance at all! I couldn't seem to understand why Patterson would just ignore a character that he put a lot of spotlight on in the first 5. The ending, as I said, was a little disappointing. I liked it until then. While I was guessing and guessing I never suspected that it'd be who it was, but I should've known through past expieriences with the Alex Cross books. Overall Alex Cross fans will be delighted with this book, and will want more from it, but you'll probably be disappointed with the end, as I was.
Rating: Summary: This book kicked @ss! Review: I don't know why everyone had such a problem with the ending of Roses are Red. Maybe it was because no one was expecting it. I loved the way it turned out, who the killer is made it much more exciting. It also explains why Alex is having such a hard time catching him. Because this killer knows Alex far too well, better than any other. The twists and turns are a vintage mystery and thiller, and I loved every second it!
Rating: Summary: Roses are Red Review: This is one Of James Pattersons best books. It is suspensful from the first to last page. You will not be able to put the book down once you start. This is the best book yet in the Alex Cross series.
Rating: Summary: Roses Are Red Review Review: This book was written by a mastermind. His technique keeps you wanting to read more, and the suspense he creates throughout the novel is outstanding. Even the end leaves you wanting more...from his next book to follow up this one...and finish out the poem title. I would recommend this highly to anyone. His style is so unique and absolutley fantastic.
Rating: Summary: Quite a marketing ploy Review: Although I've enjoyed previous Patterson books, this one was definitely weak and had a stupid, nonsensical ending, which leaves the reader going "huh?" At the end of the paperback version of this badly contrived "cliffhanger," which came out in Oct. '01, they print a teaser first 3 chapters of the sequel, due out--surprise, surprise--in November! Forget it, Patterson, this reader isn't going to waste the money, especially on a hardback version. It's clear that marketing was a greater motivator than artistic integrity in this enterprise. I got the distinct feeling that Patterson must be tired of the characters but is pushed by publishers and greed to churn out additional books long after he's too burned out to do them justice. Call it the Patricia Cornwell effect. In fact, both Cornwell and Patterson have focused on their characters' burnout and depression, which seem to mirror their own feelings about feeling pressured to churn out another one. It's too bad.
Rating: Summary: Roses are red and so are herrings Review: What can I say? This book makes absolutely no sense, but I enjoyed reading it.
