Summary: The Second Brother's Story
Review: This 2nd book is about Rick and Kendall... Cop Rick is fed-up with his mother's attempts to find him a bride. Rick meets Kendall when she has car troubles as she gets to town to sell her aunt's house. Kendall is a knock-out in a wedding dress- she left her groom at the altar. She doesn't want anything to tie her down. Rick and Kendall make a pact to help each other out while she's in town. But her little trip isn't as cut-and-dry as she hoped. Since Kendall has moved around a lot her entire life she finds it very hard to want to stay. Rick has problems of his own too! He married a friend since her boyfriend wouldn't owe up to getting her pregnant, when the boyfriend returned and his wife left him- he was crushed and hasn't truely trusted another woman since. The two end up falling for each other, but will they be able to get beyond their pasts to be happy? You'll just have to read and find out!

Oh, and even if you haven't read the 1st in the series (The Bachelor), Carly Phillips updates you on everything you'd need to know! But I'd still recommend reading The Bachelor! I can't decide which I liked better The Bachelor or The Playboy... I love both stories! I can't wait for the 3rd in the series, out in August 2004- The Heartbreaker!

Summary: what was she thinking?
Review: This book has no story. You fall asleep half way through.
I couldn't believe that this would be published. Where is the story? The uniqueness? It is a lame set up and so easy to see through. YOu know where this takes you after you have read the first few pages. The jokes don't even come across as funny but it is so easy to see through the thoughts, plot and characters.
It has some charme to it, but I fail to see how this is considered a unique and wonderful book. The story has been told so many times before. There is nothing unique about it.
Handsome boy doesn't want to marry again, family thinks different. Mother even fakes a heart condition so the family and boys will attend to her and pay attention, but then she is stuck with her own lie and feels it is time to come out of it when her youngest son finally seem to have found the girl of his life. Of course he doesn't know it but Mom knows it ( yes I know about mother's intuition :-), but then it just goes on. Girl is lost, has no money, figures out how to make it by, takes care of her younger sister because parents don't pay attention to them at all and then she just appears in that wedding dress and pink hair and just agrees to pretend to be the bride of the one guy in town that everyone wants to have and no one gets. Then they have a romance that is only under pretend but we all know it isn't and pretty much you know where this takes you. Some ups and downs and confusion and in between love and hurt feelings and blah, blah, blah.
Now I am not saying that in general this is not good material for a wonderful, kick back on your favorite chair, type of romance novel. But pllleeeeaassseeee... we are not 18 or 20.
That may work for that group of readers. There needs to be a bit more spunk and spark and fun and depth to it and less of the " AS IF" or " Like..." type of crowd.
This book could have been really nice but she did not advance the story and the people are lame.
I am sorry.
Apparently the other readers think it is wonderful. I thin it is boring and jut plain simple and really not worth the money.
I will read one of her other books just to see if she writes like this in general or if this is one of those books that she wrote and just send of instead of reviewing it and paying attention to the details.
Sorry that I can't find anything great to write about.
But as with everything else. YOu have to try it out for yourself.

Summary: A Nice Follow-Up
Review: This book was and entertaining read about the middle Chandler brother, Rick. He is pressured by his mother, Raina to settle down. And after having his mother throw women his way, a stranger comes to the small town. This beautiful stranger who is the niece of a deceased resident soon captures Rick's heart. They agree to have a "fake, convenient" relationship that eventually turns into saomething more. The only problem is that this beautiful girl named Kendall is just passing through town...
This story holds your attention but The Bachelor is a more entertaining read.

Summary: Oh those sexy Chandler men!
Review: This is a second of a three book series. (Make sure you read The Bachelor first. The Playboy gives away the ending to the Bachelor). I thought the first book was good, but this one was even better. It's a story of love with a lot of ups and downs. Will they get thogether or won't they? (I'll never tell!)The side stories that are laced through this book and the last one are fun, too! I can't wait to read The Heartbreaker (the third book).

Summary: great summer time reading
Review: This is Book 2 in Carly Phillips' triology about the 3 chandler brothers- they are determined to resist the matchmaking attempts of their mother.

Even though this book is the middle in ther series, i was able to read it without having read its predecessor "the bachelor". It stands alone but does introduce the other two brothers and make you want to read their stories too.

The Playboy is about the middle brother Rick- a cop who thinks he can avoid marriage now that his younger brother has gotten married. He meets Kendall- a young commitment phobic woman who is fleeing her own wedding. Both are independent and fighting their feelings but of course end up together.

This book is great summer reading- lightweight and fun and makes you eager to read the whole trilogy

Summary: The Playboy
Review: This is my favorite of the Chandler brother books. Rick is a policman, the middle brother, and someone who wants to stick to one place. Kendall is spontanious, and can't live in one place for a long period of time. The connection between the two is very strong; however, past marrages, jealous teachers, and little sisters all stand in the way. I've read this story countless times, and new things surprise me every time I pick it up. It is cleverly written, and I would recomend it to anyone.

Summary: Inspirational Drivel
Review: This is the kind of book that inspires me. As I read, I think to myself, "I can't believe this got published. I could write something better than this!" Thus inspired that some day I could become a published author. After all, that's how Kay Hooper got started!
The plot was okay, but I found the writing simple and repetitious. The characters were shallow and predictable.
