Summary: Touching, absolutely touching!
Review: I loved this book; it touched my inner core and not many books do. I especially appreciated the author's "voice." It almost felt like she was sitting next to me simply telling the story. What an amazing gift of writing. I loved the way she occassionally would add after describing something surreal, "believe it if you want. This truely happened this way." At the next meeting I will recommend it for our bookclub even though it is a very different kind of book than we ordinarily read. Nevertheless, I expect that everyone will enjoy it.

Review: EXPECTING ADAM is an extraordinary book, wise, witty, and intensely human. It would have to be enormously helpful and encouraging to parents of a Down Syndrome child, but it would be a pity if it weren't read by others. Highly thought-provoking.

Review: Martha Beck is truely a gifted woman. She has a wonderful child and a talent in telling her story. I have a child with Down syndrome and had similar experiences during my pregnancy. As a woman searching for magic in my own life, the book warmed my heart. Martha Beck is a very talented writer, I searched Amazon for any other titles because her writing talent impressed me so much. Everyone with or without children should read this book, it will warm your heart and make you glad to be alive in this sometimes miraculous world. Review: I love this book. I got it because I am considering a special needs adoption and I came across it by accident. Buying this book was not a mistake -- it's one of the most wonderful stories. Martha Beck renders such a magnificent portrayal of what mothers go through when something is wrong with their kid in an area that other kids are considered "normal." Also, it is a spiritual journey and one that will make you think again about how you view reality. I couldn't put this book down and had to keep reading. Not just to find out how the story unfolded, but to see what would unfold in myself as I read. I recommend this book to all mothers, all parents. It is also pure inspiration for anyone coping with any kind of personal limitations, no matter what they are.
